Fair pricing, great support and useful automation
Pros and Cons
  • "Automation is definitely my favorite feature as it makes our lives so much easier."
  • "Monday.com is always upgrading its features. I struggle to keep up with it all as I am not a tech expert."

What is our primary use case?

I run a laser treatments business and use Monday.com to keep all my important information together in one place.

How has it helped my organization?

I run a laser treatments business and use monday.com to keep all my important information together in one place.

What is most valuable?

Automation is definitely my favorite feature as it makes our lives so much easier. Also, being able to create a hiring process on Monday.com which links a form to our website has definitely helped us a lot.

What needs improvement?

Monday.com is always upgrading its features. I struggle to keep up with it all as I am not a tech expert. However, if I had to pick an area that could be improved it would be the user-friendliness of the platform compared to other similar apps.

Great automation, excellent board linking, and helpful communication features
Pros and Cons
  • "Automation is definitely a favorite of mine."
  • "Sometimes the limit of parts on a board (500 units) can inhibit growth."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com as our primary tracking tool. We have developed several boards to help track progress from sales to employee training and reviews. We have found that dashboard views to be most helpful in giving our staff a visual into the progress of their performance. The ability to communicate back and forth as well as house files essential to the boards right on Monday is priceless to the continuation of managing our projects. That is why we primarily use this as a tracking tool. We can communicate progress and chat in real-time all while looking at the same information.

How has it helped my organization?

It has really given us a level of communication on a central platform that far exceeds what we have endured in the past. We are able to get all pertinent personnel information in a real-time manner which is key with the bulk of employees on the go or in different states. We have collaborated with our joint ventures too by using boards in a shareable manner to give them a window into the progress of the projects we are currently progressing on. It has given us a way to present items inside and outside our corporation with another layer of professionalism by using views as charts, et cetera.

What is most valuable?

Automation is definitely a favorite of mine. I use it to create efficiency in moving items to groups as well as triggering reminders to coworkers. This area of Monday.com alone has helped keep me on track with tasks as well as giving me a level of security in knowing that if I put the automation in place I can go about my day, focusing on other priorities and not having to remember all of my tasks.

I also really find the linking of boards to stream information across worth its weight in gold as we navigate anywhere from tool tracking and logging to Gantt charts which we share with customers outside of Monday.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes the limit of parts on a board (500 units) can inhibit growth. I have used multiple boards to achieve things that I had hoped to do on with one due to this limit.

Also, there needs to be an implementation of a better way to time track in order to use Monday as a payroll tracking system for employees. A clear clock in and clock out that can track up to 1/4 hours would be useful. This improvement to the time tracking would be what I would most like to see come out on a future release. It would definitely bridge so many gaps that lack in the accounting software that we use on a daily basis.

For how long have I used the solution?

Our company has been using the product for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Monday.com is very stable overall. I have only experienced a few downtimes in all the years we have used it. I can say we use it right along with our accounting software and email every day.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am impressed with the scalability options I have seen so far.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been great. I mentioned earlier about the part item limitations; I reached out and the team was very responsive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not have another tool like this previously.

How was the initial setup?

If you have a basic knowledge of software, the initial set up is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

I was not part of the initial setup, however, believe it was through a vendor team.

What was our ROI?

I would estimate it was less than 6 months until we saw an ROI. Knowing what you want is the key. The next step is just getting your employees to buy-in. Once that happens, they can see the value very quickly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If I talk about Monday I encourage people to use the Pro Plan. The lower plans are a good place to start, however, what you gain on a Pro Plan is where I believe you get the most bang for your buck.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have heard of other tools and some of our employees like Microsoft Teams, however, I feel that Monday is superior in the manner it can work with Teams and other platforms to provide a more complete service.

What other advice do I have?

If I were a private business consultant, I would recommend Monday.com all day long as a no-nonsense solution to improve any business. The capabilities are unmatched by the price point given by Monday.com.

Gives high-level visibility, helps with task management, and has helpful status boxes
Pros and Cons
  • "Being able to see the physical status of a single team without having to drill down to the task level is very valuable."
  • "I wish the Time Tracking features were a little more robust."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday primarily as a task/project manager. Some boards are simple "to-do" punch lists. Some boards are for full-team collaborations on product and packaging design. Within our Monday account, a product is researched, pitched, briefed, concepted, reviewed, revised, submitted for a quote, sent to mass production, checked for quality control, launched, marketed, and supported into its future. We maintain due dates, assign responsibilities within larger tasks, critique and punch up creative material, record budgets, and utilize automation to move tasks between teams and internal processes.

How has it helped my organization?

We moved from Asana to Monday in 2018. We needed a task management solution that would fit the varied internal processes of our business. Some teams and tasks are pure creative, some pure logistics. Everyone has different KPIs that matter to them.

Monday allowed us to customize a unique board full of targeted information for each team and process while keeping all team members on the same shared platform. We value teams across functions being able to stay attuned to each other's work. It creates accountability and reduces siloing.

What is most valuable?

Big Picture: Being able to add and subtract columns from a board. We see only what we want to see, and it's there, top-level, at a glance. Being able to see the physical status of a single team without having to drill down to the task level is very valuable.

Small Picture: The status boxes are super impactful. The changing colors are visually distinct and powerful, but the wild amount of customization they offer for different contexts, and even being able to comment directly on a changed status adds a ton of clarity to a team's progress (or lack thereof).

What needs improvement?

I wish the Time Tracking features were a little more robust. We are interested in replacing Toggl with Monday's in-built time tracking features so that we can consolidate more of our internal software into Monday, but the time tracking features aren't quite there yet.

For example, if a task is assigned to multiple people, and User One tracks two hours while User Two tracks three hours, Monday's reporting through their dashboard will show that both users tracked five hours, and it looks like ten hours were spent in total. Since so many of our processes are in collaboration, this feature as it stands is pretty useless to us and forces us to use an external piece of software to handle it (and we don't particularly like Toggl's reporting).

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for just over four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is dependable. Over the course of four years, Monday has been down in a way that affected our workflow fewer times than I can count on both my hands.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We went from small to mid-size while using Monday. It has plenty of features that would allow it to scale with us further, including important permissions and visibility features. We also have dedicated ways to section off content, reorganize by importance, and place boards into folders.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is speedy and professional. Thorough. Responsive. We haven't had an issue go unresolved. In the earlier days of the service, some of our limitations were eventually remedied with feature updates.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Asana. At the time we were simply pricing out alternatives, as our team had grown into a new pricing bracket with Asana, Monday was priced competitively for our size. We were given a two-week test drive of Monday and then understood that it wasn't simply a cheaper option. It was a more flexible option for our business.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was complex. We needed a champion to get set up and moved over from Asana and understand any new limitations. It was not something we could just toss to any/every employee and expect success. However, the documentation and help files are very clear and kept up to date. It's easy to pick up and learn.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented through an in-house team.

What was our ROI?

Monday is a big part of our entire product lifecycle, and we're launching hundreds of products a year. The price tag starts to look pretty miniscule.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

To a complete novice, Monday 'feels' a little more complex than competitors and 'feels' a little overwhelming. You'll need a champion or two in your workplace to learn the ins and outs and set up boards to a baseline configuration. That said, once folks are comfortable and customizing it to their needs, it really starts to sing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated a few other services of varying levels of complexity, Basecamp and Trello amongst them. Some raw time-tracking and to-do list software that would've required additional administration, some fuller-service options.

Cost effective with great Slack integrations and useful color coding
Pros and Cons
  • "With multiple team members working on multiple fast-moving briefs, tasks, and projects - often remotely and in different timezones - Monday.com has become our reliable source of truth to oversee and manage everything that's going on."
  • "The marketing notification emails from Monday.com are really poor and of little value to the user."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com to efficiently manage marketing briefs, projects, teams, and marketing deadlines.

Marketing Managers will submit a brief to the platform and indicate the resourcing requirements. The brief will then be assigned to one or several members of the creative studio team who specialize in delivering work across video, design, copy, and production.

With a hybrid team that works both remotely and in the office - and sometimes in different time zones - it allows us to manage multiple projects across consumer, PR, B2B, and partner marketing.

How has it helped my organization?

With multiple team members working on multiple fast-moving briefs, tasks, and projects - often remotely and in different timezones - Monday.com has become our reliable source of truth to oversee and manage everything that's going on.

It enables us to work fast and manage internal resources and a huge volume of marketing deliverables and external deadlines more easily and efficiently. It's easy to log into the platform anywhere with an internet connection meaning it's always available to check and keep updated on what's going on and what needs to happen.

What is most valuable?

The Slack integration is fantastic for working in a fast-paced environment. It's the quickest way to read, follow and respond to project updates and prevents important updates from being missed, whereas before the Slack integration these updates could easily be missed on the Monday.com platform.

The ability to see who has viewed an update or comment on Monday.com is really helpful when it comes to trusting that work is in hand, or suggesting that something needs chasing.

Being able to use colors to separate different types of projects is also really helpful from a user-friendly/UX perspective.

What needs improvement?

The marketing notification emails from Monday.com are really poor and of little value to the user.

For example, I get an email notifying me that "a team member has started on your item" which is meaningless information to me without actually opening up the Monday.com platform, which takes time and creates a slow and clunky process.

A new feature that gives studio teams the ability to upload creative content so reviews and feedback processes could also be managed on the platform would be really helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for 2.5 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is reliable and rarely buggy.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The ROI would be hard to measure.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is cost-effective.

Great dashboards, helpful templates, and makes it easy to assign team members to tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "Monday.com has provided a centralized and easy-to-use area for my team to store all of our information and collaborate together."
  • "It would be nice to have more customization around the documents, such as different title headings, fonts, etc."

What is our primary use case?

I'm a part of our talent team, so we utilize Monday.com for scheduling candidate interviews, housing important information around our best practices, as well as housing data and metrics.

We have also used it for process documentation, organizational documentation, and collaboration.

We have utilized the forms feature for being able to collect information from team members, candidates, etc. We are a team of about 15, and it's been really nice being able to have one centralized area for us to work from.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has provided a centralized and easy-to-use area for my team to store all of our information and collaborate together. It's much easier than having to use multiple platforms. We really appreciate the customizable nature of dashboards, and it's really been a game-changer when it does come to housing documentation on our team.

Previously, we only used Google Drive, however, it was somewhat limiting since we really only used Google Docs. With Monday.com, we're able to have information stored in different formats, which is also helpful for different learning styles on our team.

What is most valuable?

My team has found the dashboards, subitems, assigning team members, and documents to be most valuable for what we do.

We don't tend to use the templates that are included in Monday.com, however, it's really nice to have flexibility over how we house our information and are able to use the platform.

The one piece that has been extremely useful is the form feature. My team has been able to use that to get candidate information and schedule interviews without as much of the back and forth through emails.

What needs improvement?

I honestly can't think of much off the top of my head—Monday.com has pretty much everything that my team would need to use on a day-to-day basis. Something that might be interesting to see in the future is having sub-items within sub-items so our team can be more granular with things.

It would be nice to have more customization around the documents, such as different title headings, fonts, etc. Just having more we can do with creating documents so we don't have to switch between Monday.com and Google Docs would be great.

For how long have I used the solution?

My team has been using Monday.com for over a year now.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use a different solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's worth the cost and it's honestly pretty user-friendly and easy to learn.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

Easy for management of multiple projects with automatic deadline reminders and helpful support
Pros and Cons
  • "With the work boards easy to convert to Gantt charts, valuable time is saved when preparing for project meetings."
  • "I would like to see Monday.com create a Work Package Template which could be created and adjusted as per each project but could also be amended via an app on site should this be required."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to manage, oversee, and collate various projects within the telecom, security and IT sectors. The projects are of a great variety and contain many stages. I assign and delegate tasks to all project stakeholders inclusive of deadline dates. When managing multiple projects of no less than 15 at any one time, this software is great to get an overview of where you are and what deadlines are upcoming. With the work boards easy to convert to Gantt charts, this saves valuable time when preparing for project meetings

How has it helped my organization?

With setting up different users and tasks for each project stakeholder, when managing multiple projects the work overview board creates a clear list of what tasks are required from each stakeholder and when they are needed by. This is not only on the actual date. It is for future dates ahead as well.

Since bringing in Monday.com and using this for all projects, all stakeholders know their roles and responsibilities - meaning that projects now run in a timely manner and are very rarely overrun.

When working away from the office, the speech bubble for updates makes it easier to receive updates rather than via email.

What is most valuable?

The fact we are able to set automatic deadline reminders means that we will never forget a task that could delay the project and break various project tolerances.

With the work boards easy to convert to Gantt charts, valuable time is saved when preparing for project meetings.

Extracting individual work boards to send to each client to give them an overview and update of the status of their project saves valuable time creating individual RAID Logs.

It's vital when you are managing multiple different projects at any one time.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see Monday.com create a Work Package Template which could be created and adjusted as per each project but could also be amended via an app on site should this be required.

In addition, it would be good to have a signature field that clients could either sign via the app or email. This could be then utilized to sign off any jobs or acceptance once the project has been completed.

We'd like software for all elements of project management including sign-off in one central place without the need for an additional subscription - that would be perfect.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There have been a few outages, however, it is quickly fixed.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Adding a signature field would fulfill my needs in terms of scale.

How are customer service and support?

The product offers excellent customer service.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy.

What about the implementation team?

I created and installed the solution myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is expensive yet worth it.

We did look at Smartsheet as well.

Great integrations and automation with helpful project tracking capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "Integrations with Slack and integrations as a whole are wonderful."
  • "My Work cannot be connected to specific line items in boards or subtasks, and therefore it is currently causing a gap in communication with our team."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution as a CRM, track project progress, and keep client notes all in one place. We also use My Work to keep track of everyone's day-to-day at the company and ensure that all deadlines are met. This was a big step for us to implement.

We also use dashboards to track our most important numbers, which are revenue and sales. We also use personal to-do lists and communicate internally as a team. Half of our team is virtual, so Monday.com has been our source of communication as a whole for the entire company, which is awesome.

How has it helped my organization?

The product has been amazing.

Now we can see our client data and sort by column with the data that is most important to us as a business. We can run reports with real data that allow us to take decision on a higher level. We can now also track per person their book of business, how much revenue they are managing as a whole, and, based on column data, we can run reports.

As a company we operate on quarterly goals, so we have a board that is just to track these goals and their progress. We can run reports and it has been really great.

What is most valuable?

Integrations with Slack and integrations as a whole are wonderful. We want to use Monday.com as our source of truth. We also use automation and think it's great. When we were looking for a project management software during our sales process, Monday.com really stood out because of these features.

We want to be efficient and this software has allowed us to do that. The insights tabs are also amazing. Again, we can run reports on those and make higher-level decisions and see data per person on specific metrics.

What needs improvement?

The solution offers more integration features with Hubspot and more options to connect within boards. We love using My Work, however, there are also limited capabilities within boards. My Work cannot be connected to specific line items in boards or subtasks, and therefore it is currently causing a gap in communication with our team.

An area that can be explored, similar to Salesforce, is a task board for each client. I'm not sure that this will be ideal for everyone. However, in our case, we use Monday.com as both our CRM and project management software.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for over a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is great.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is great.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not work with a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was good.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the solution's set up in-house.

What was our ROI?

We've seen a 3X ROI.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did look at Salesforce and Hubspot (we have Hubspot right now - just as another source).

What other advice do I have?

We have more capabilities to send email templates within each task. We have workflows and we would love to have white-labeling services since we have client-facing boards and they are confused as to what is monday.com. That is just not user-friendly for our clients.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Easy to set up and offers a good project overview but needs templates
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is easy."
  • "The solution really needs to offer templates."

What is our primary use case?

It's a basic system for me to keep tracking what is happening in my project at a high level. If I don't know and want to go in deep and check exactly what is happening, I use Monday as an overall picture for my monthly projects, let's say.

What is most valuable?

It's great for providing a general overview of projects in one snapshot.

The initial setup is easy.

It's quite a stable product.

What needs improvement?

Monday has a lot of space, let's say, for improvement. Especially when you create a new board. The board is like a new project; it's called "board". When you create a new board, you add everything manually. It doesn't come with a template by default. If you want to change the status of your task, you should change it manually. Even changing the date is manual. If you have an update on the project, or if the project closed or went away, all the dates are added manually. This is time-consuming if you are comparing it with Jira. In Jira, when you open a task, the date is read automatically, which is easier. On Monday I need to add it manually.

The solution really needs to offer templates. That would be very helpful.

I'd like to be able to add different panels under the same project. For example, at the moment I can create groups, which is fine, however, all of them include the same columns. I cannot have them in group one, five columns, and in group two, three columns due to the fact that it's under the same project, under the same board.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used Monday only for the last couple of months. It's been four or five months now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product has been stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 15 people on our team using the solution.

How are customer service and support?

I've never had the need to contact Monday's technical support team and therefore cannot comment on how they are to deal with.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also work with Jira.

How was the initial setup?

I found the initial setup to be simple and straightforward. It's easy. It's not complex.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My understanding is that it is open-source. There is a standard installation fee, however, in regards to users, it's free.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not sure of which version of the solution I'm using.

I'd advise a new user to try to create a few projects as an example before you create a real one. It's a little bit complicated and I'm not aware if there's a manual to read or find out how to properly do the setup of a project. If a new user tries to create a few examples before they start, it will help them get comfortable with Monday.

I would rate the solution six out of ten. I'm always comparing. Monday and Jira are both for project management solutions. Comparing it with Jira, Monday doesn't have as many features or abilities. It's a very basic program. You cannot create Casper flows or create automated approval or check the availability of your team based on your resources. It gives you an overall picture, the high-level picture, of your tasks and that is basically it.
