We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The agentless architecture has minimized our software footprint at the client level.""It has helped us to provide comprehensive data protection with high recovery rates and a malware scanning feature.""I have found all the features useful in the solution.""The solution has been very stable."

More Asigra Pros →

"SPIR is Instant Recovery for Spectrum Protect. It sends snapshots using space efficiently and blocking backups to the Spectrum Protect server. It provisions the snapshot from the backup server to the same or new server near instantly.""The best part of this solution is that it just works.""Its incremental forever approach is valuable, so we don't have to load tapes to do a restore.""Our customers have come to trust IBM.""We work very closely together with IBM using their Support Center, but we have a strong contact in their development teams, and we have dedicated people from IBM working with us.""Because of the flexible parameters, everything can be fine-tuned to the customers’ needs in their environment.""The business value comes from the capability to overcome data losses.""Disk-based implementation of a data protection solution for multiple sites is a better fit for my complex data protection needs."

More IBM Spectrum Protect Pros →

"A full-featured data protection solution that is reliable and stable.""The most valuable feature of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is its ease of use. Additionally, it does backups of all of the things we need, such as OS, files, and databases.""The solution offers a very straightforward deployment. You click, click, click and it's done. There's not much configuration to do.""Virtual snapshots that offer incremental backups.""The tool has enough documentation; you don't need to contact the support team.""The solution is scalable and can be fitted for any customer.""Using this tool, we can easily backup and restore or recover the data for PCs and mobiles in case of system crashes.""This solution is very stable and has good support available online."

Cons
"They should improve the malware scanning capabilities, extending it to protect cloud application data.""The management could be a bit better."

More Asigra Cons →

"The product should be improved to save more space.""Scalability is poor. As you get to bigger environments, this is where our gaps have been introduced. As we have grown over the past couple of years, the gaps have become more apparent.""The licensing isn't very clear. They should work to simply or clarify the cost structure.""IBM Spectrum Protect could be improved by making the installation easier. Once it's implemented, it's okay. IBM started lagging behind when things started moving to storage and cloud-based solutions. Even though they've recently released updates that give cloud-based protection, personally, I still believe they are not up to par with the likes of Rubrik. The entire product is a little bit clumsy because they have co-joined two different products, so it's complex. Even from a sales/explaining to people what it does point of view, it's complex. Whereas, if you take more current products, it's a single box solution. You reel it in, you fire it up, you do a couple of points and clicks, and off you go, whereas the IBM system is seriously complex. There's a lot of training involved and it's a massively difficult product to sell at this point in time.""There have been some sizing issues now, and we are dealing with those.""Replication services would be nice. If these could be enhanced to be always on so multiple storage backup services could be added as a cluster pool. This would provide a better availability service.""The usability of IBM Spectrum Protect could be improved, specifically additional features to the product in the operations center. Additional reporting facilities and stronger reporting tools such as build dashboards would be beneficial.""Although I am not a technical user, I would say the cloud integration features could be improved."

More IBM Spectrum Protect Cons →

"Not particularly user friendly.""An area that needs improvement is data validation. We currently use another product that gives us immediate validation, information about when the last backup was, and no risk of corruption happening. TSM in IBM Spectrum is not mature so that you can validate on the spot.""The administration needs to be improved and made simpler to use.""I think the graphical reports are a shortcoming of the tool since it fails to provide my company with what we want in terms of reporting. Due to the product's inability to take care of its reporting part, we have to use third-party software.""IBM Spectrum Protect Plus could improve by adding SAP Rena.""The tool needs to increase the number of threats.""The Gui interface and usability are not so friendly and easy.""Their first level of support can be improved. Often they are too junior to understand the issues we are having, and it takes too much time to get from them to the next level of support, which is what we actually need."
