Flexible with robust features and helpful support
Pros and Cons
  • "The pricing is fine."
  • "If we could have a mass deployment option using Acronis, that would be helpful."

What is our primary use case?

We have it in a trial there. It includes all the features. We have tested them in our lab setups.

We're proposing it as an option for workspace backups and recovery.

What is most valuable?

I like the backup features. We can add a layer on top of that which includes security features. That is very unique. Mainly, the backup software includes only the backup. This includes not only backup but also security features.

It is easy to set up.

The product is stable.

Scaling is possible.

The pricing is fine.

Support has been helpful.

It's very flexible based on the size of the offering. For example, ifwe have three customer requirements, we can customize the Acronis solution according to their requirement by adding the advanced packages.

What needs improvement?

The problem we face is competition. For the backup competition, we have Commvault, Veritas, Arcserve, and that kind of competition. The customers in Sri Lanka are mainly looking at Gartner records. Since Acronis is very new to the market, we can't compare it with those data center backup solutions, as they lead the way and get all the coverage. That's the main issue we are having. Apart from that, the feature set is very unique. We'd like it if Acronis Backup could focus a little bit on brand awareness in marketing.

If they can manage something like an STCM, or something that does mass deployment for software into the Cyber Protect console, it would be great. If we could have a mass deployment option using Acronis, that would be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

Acronis has been added to the product portfolio recently. It's new to me. I have been working with it for six months or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a very stable solution. In some customer environments, we have some Windows security issues and errors and so forth and so on. However, that is based on the environment, not on the product. In general, the Acronis product is very good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scaling was something we wanted; it was a customer requirement. What was needed was for the end-user to recover what they wanted instantly without using the admin console and by only using their agent UI. We found it could scale well.

How are customer service and support?

Their support is very good. I usually get in contact with one of the engineers, so when we have questions or troubles with the production and the customer environment, he helps us a lot.

That said, when we do POCs, we can't open support tickets. We have to go to a PO to open support tickets. We have to call the contact engineer to get any help. It's limited, the ability to raise a ticket when you are in the POC. For example, in the first month when we were conducting the POC, w couldn't reach the support. We had to call and mail.

Still, for the most part, support is helpful. Every time we called the engineers, they responded to us and helped us.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

It is straightforward to set up and very user-friendly. The cloud solution is very simple as is the on-premise. There's not very much complexity. The only thing there is that may be tricky is we need to use a backup gateway. We need Acronis cyberinfrastructure when we want something like non-internet connectivity users to do a backup or something like that. Therefore, when we have a use case like that, we have to do cyberinfrastructure. Apart from that, the on-premise and cloud deployment are user-friendly. Anyone can easily configure and use it.

I'd rate the entire process a four out of five in terms of ease of deployment. It only takes about half an hour to set up. You install the management server and then install the agent on the machine. Then, with the use cases we are trying, it takes a bit of time. We tried to back up mailboxes, and we tried to back up workstations. It takes time to do this part. However, the actual setting up didn't take any time.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't handle the pricing aspect. Our product manager deals with that. That said, when talking with them, my understanding is the pricing is good.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

If I was to compare this product with Veritas, Druva, or Azure, the main difference I see is that those products only include the backup functionality. What Acronis provides is much more than that. It provides backup, management, and security, as well as vulnerability management and patch management, and a little bit of DLP. They include many packages. It adds an extra layer to the offering.

What other advice do I have?

We're a partner.

We are using the latest version of the solution. I have installed the agent from the cyber console and updated it to the latest version.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Easy to set up and deploy with helpful technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The performance has been fine so far."
  • "The product would be better if they offered more integration capabilities."

What is our primary use case?

The most important use case is to backup notebooks and other environments of the completed image and to back up global environment imaging and you can leverage the backup when you are making a migration as well.

What is most valuable?

The solution is stable. The performance has been fine so far.

We found the installation process to be pretty simple. You don't need a huge team to implement it. Just one person is fine.

Technical support is great.

What needs improvement?

I don't find the product to be overly scalable.

The product would be better if they offered more integration capabilities.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used this solution for this year and the previous year as well. In total, we've likely used it for four or five years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We've found the stability to be very good. The solution is reliable and offers nice performance. There aren't bugs. It's not glitchy. I don't find that it crashes or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product isn't very scalable. It's an aspect they could improve upon. Right now, it's limited.

We have six to seven customers using the solution. There might even be a few more in some special environments.

How are customer service and support?

The support has been great. they don't need to be faster. They're very helpful and responsive, and we're satisfied overall. We find having them to be very important.

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementation was not complex or difficult. It was very easy, very straightforward.

The deployment itself only takes about an hour or so. It's not a long and drawn-out process.

You only need one person - an admin - for the deployment and maintenance tasks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay a yearly licensing fee. There are no additional costs to the standard license and fees.

What other advice do I have?

I'd advise other users that, if you're making a backup with Acronis, you always ensure you do a double backup.

I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies. It offers an excellent level of service. We are satisfied with them.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications.
Pros and Cons
  • "Consistency and reliability. The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications. While not 100%, it is a very reliable backup solution."
  • "I needed tech support to straighten out an issue with cloud backup. I have troubleshooting to do with failed backups."

How has it helped my organization?

I use the same backup software provider across all my clients. This means I only have to stay on top of manage interface and workflow. In that aspect, it's reliable.

What is most valuable?

Consistency and reliability. The interface is easy to understand and consistent across applications. While not 100%, it is a very reliable backup solution.

It makes a full image of the hard drive. If a hard drive fails, all we do is recover to another hard drive. We just pop in the hard drive and that's very fast as well. Speed and the ease in which we recover full hard drives are valuable features.

What needs improvement?

I needed tech support to straighten out an issue with cloud backup. I have troubleshooting to do with failed backups.

[Click Here for FREE Trial of Acronis Backup. See Why It Gets 5-Star Reviews.]

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There were no stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There were no scalability issues, although my biggest client has a relatively small-scale backup system.

How are customer service and technical support?

I would give technical support a rating of 8/10. They are very good, quick to access, quick for remote to server, and quick to troubleshoot. Sometimes they are a little slow in understanding the exact issue, but they eventually get it and resolve it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Symantec. We switched because they had a bad user interface and it was very difficult to use. I left Symantec years ago for Acronis. The only other backup I encountered was the one included with Windows Server OS.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was somewhat straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

What other advice do I have?

Go for it!

Effective instant restore, helpful ransomware protection, and sufficient documentation available
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of Acronis Backup are instant restore, antivirus, and ransomware protection. Additionally, the documentation is good."
  • "Acronis Backup can improve on the virtualization backups because they are not as good as Veeam Backup."

What is our primary use case?

Acronis Backup is a solution to backup data.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of Acronis Backup are instant restore, antivirus, and ransomware protection. Additionally, the documentation is good.

What needs improvement?

Acronis Backup can improve on the virtualization backups because they are not as good as Veeam Backup.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Acronis Backup for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Acronis Backup is highly reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of Acronis Backup has been good. We suggest to our customers it can be done easily.

We recommend Acronis Backup to SMB and education customers.

How are customer service and support?

Acronis Backup support could improve. The chat support that they have available is slow, they are not responsive. This is a problem when we have a critical issue the support is not readily available.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Veritas but we have found Acronis Backup easier to use.

How was the initial setup?

Acronis Backup's initial setup is simple.

What about the implementation team?

If we have any issues with the implementation our vendor partner will assist us.

The maintenance of the solution does not require a large team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The current subscription model of Acronis Backup compared to other backup solutions is not costly.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Acronis Backup a ten out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Speedy performance and good archiving capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the fact that you can archive backups quite easily and minimize the amount of space you're using."
  • "It could have a better ability to manage backups over a longer period."

What is our primary use case?

I use this product to back up files and data across our LAN. I'm doing a new backup every month, and you can archive these monthly backups.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the fact that you can archive backups quite easily and minimize the amount of space you're using. I do full backups about once a month and differential ones most days. The fact is that it's very easy to cut out the middle ones and just keep the last differential, thus reducing the space usage.

It comes with a few extra tools that I use from time to time, such as a disk-clone utility.

The backup process is reasonably speedy. It finished the backup in a reasonable amount of time, ready to work the next day.

What needs improvement?

This solution would not scale well in a large environment.

It could have a better ability to manage backups over a longer period.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Acronis Backup for approximately five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not experienced any problems with performance or stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I haven't used it in a large environment but certainly, it works well enough in the environment that we have here. We have approximately six users. It is not the type of product that would be well-suited for a large environment.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with Arcserve and another backup solution.

For a smaller environment, which is what we have now, Acronis is fine.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay a yearly subscription fee and the pricing is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anybody who is considering Acronis is that it's a good product and fairly easy to keep up to date.

With respect to compatibility, with backups, you can usually read from version to version. Perhaps it has the ability to merge backups, which would be helpful when trying to manage backups over long periods.

In general, I am pretty satisfied with this product. I can't think of anything that I've needed that it doesn't have.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

User-friendly, plenty of features, and stable
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has all the features I need and user friendly."
  • "The solution could be better if some of the features were more in-depth."

What is our primary use case?

I have found the solution good only for desktop environments for backups. We use it for cloning.

What is most valuable?

The solution has all the features I need and user friendly.

What needs improvement?

The solution could be better if some of the features were more in-depth.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Acronis Backup for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

How are customer service and support?

I have never needed to contact the support of Acronis.

How was the initial setup?

The installation was not a problem for me, it was straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a license required to use this solution and it is inexpensive. However, it is an old license.

What other advice do I have?

I would not recommend this solution to others.

I rate Acronis Backup an eight out of ten.

A user-friendly backup and disaster recovery solution with a useful image creation feature
Pros and Cons
  • "It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately."
  • "It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10."

What is our primary use case?

My clients use it for disaster recovery events. Because of the ERP systems they have, these types of events need a space in the cloud to work immediately and recover the capacity for people to work in the company.

What is most valuable?

It's a good solution that's very easy to use. Acronis has two valuable features. The first one is creating images, and the other is starting virtual machines in the cloud so the client can work immediately.

Another valuable feature is that you could have all the information in the cloud. When you need to start working with a machine, you can do it. This is a very valuable option for our clients.

What needs improvement?

It would be better if they made it easier to obtain images for laptops and desktops. It isn't easy right now to have many different types of desktop computers. This is because Microsoft is changing a lot of things in Windows 10.

Sometimes the computers don't work well, and you need a lot of time to recover the users' information. It's also difficult to get the users' laptops to work with this because Windows can crash in some models, and it takes time to recover all the information.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Acronis Backup for three years or more.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable solution. We've had little problems, but it's with the WAN connection because the client doesn't have enough bandwidth. It wasn't a problem with Acronis, and it was a problem with the client.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a scalable solution. We have medium-sized companies as clients. For example, some have 60 users, and another has 100 users.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In Ecuador, a lot of people use Veeam Backup, Arcserve, and Veritas. The government also uses Data Protector from HP. Acronis is very easy and a new way to get backups or any kind of images or information. But Arcserve is a local solution that you need to install in a server and create jobs from another server. Acronis is a cloud solution, but with Arcserve, you need a server to install it. It's a very different way to use this application.

It's difficult to recover from tapes because of certain data center solutions in Ecuador that use UDX. It's like a hard disk that you can connect to a USB port, and you can get all the information. But when it falls on the floor, you can lose all the information in other types of hard disks. But the capacity is not much, just around three or four terabytes. But it's a good solution to use with some clients because they don't have a lot of space in their servers and this capacity is enough to recover old information.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. You just connect the USB port to the server, and it'll see another logical drive. If you use software like GFI Backup, you can program replica backups or have other types of information copied in this logical drive.

You need one person who is the main IT employee and another person who helps the IT Manager maintain this solution.

What about the implementation team?

We implement this solution for our clients.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You pay for what you use in the cloud. If you don't start the virtual machine in the cloud, you only pay for the information stored there. But when you start the virtual machine, another pricing model is activated.

What other advice do I have?

I would tell potential users that Acronis has more solutions for different environments. You can get information from servers that don't use Windows and use other operating systems like Linux and Ubuntu. You can recover it in the cloud, and you can start a virtual machine. You can synchronize information. You've got a lot of features that the other solutions require you to install locally. It's very easy to use.

Technical support really isn't necessary in many cases because it's very intuitive, and it's not complex to resolve problems. If you want to get more information, you can find it on the Acronis site or the internet. You can resolve most of the little problems on your own.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Acronis Backup a ten.

Well balanced, very flexible, and very easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The licensing model is very good."
  • "The solution could use a single sign-on integration that can default to the admin dashboard. Right now, it's only username and password. If you had had an additional two-factor authentication, this would be beneficial for me."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution as backup and recovery.

What is most valuable?

The product is very easy to use.

It's quite stable.

The solution is very flexible.

Its feature set is well balanced.

The initial setup is very straightforward and the deployment is very fast.

The licensing model is very good.

What needs improvement?

The solution is on-premises and therefore is not very scalable.

The solution already covers all of the requirements I need. I don't recall missing a feature or capability.

The solution could use a single sign-on integration that can default to the admin dashboard. Right now, it's only username and password. If you had had an additional two-factor authentication, this would be beneficial for me.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been uisng the solution for 12 years. It's been over a decade at this point. We have quite a bit of experience with it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the product is very good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution isn't scalable. It's a set size as an on-premises device.

On an administrative level, three people are on the solution.

We do not plan to increase usage. Using this solution is a bit of a special case within the company.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Our company mostly uses Veam. Only I am using Acronis within our organization.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not overly complex or difficult. It's easy and very straightforward.

The deployment is fast. It only takes about 20 minutes or so.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the implementation myself. I did not need the assistance of an implementor or consultant.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a one-time purchase of the product. After that, users only have to pay renewals on maintenance and support. I like the licensing model.

You are paying for very good value. Everything is well balanced. For me, in this case, the pricing is justified. It's worth the price tag.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the latest version of the solution.

I'm responsible for fast and dedicated, fair infrastructure, which is on-premise. I'm using Acronis for Windows 10 and in the company, I'm using the Acronis for ESXi to make backups for virtual machines.

I'd rate this solution at a nine out of ten. We've been very pleased with the capabilities.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
