Pros and Cons
  • "What I like most about Cisco AnyConnect VPN is its reliability and stability."
  • "One improvement could be ensuring better backward compatibility."

How has it helped my organization?

Cisco AnyConnect is valuable for our organization as it secures remote access to resources, enabling colleagues to work from anywhere. Its importance grew during the shift to more remote work, like during COVID.

What is most valuable?

As an end user, what I like most about Cisco AnyConnect VPN is its reliability and stability.

What needs improvement?

One improvement could be ensuring better backward compatibility. Occasionally, I have faced issues where older versions didn't work seamlessly with the latest VPN version, requiring a downgrade for compatibility. Otherwise, the auto-setup feature is convenient, and speed/resource usage hasn't been a problem.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cisco AnyConnect VPN for several years, depending on the projects I'm involved in.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability of the solution as a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We haven't had any scalability issues with Cisco AnyConnect VPN. Five people use it at our company. The usage of Cisco AnyConnect varies with projects – sometimes more, sometimes less.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used OpenVPN alongside AnyConnect for the past two years.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward and took me about ten minutes to deploy the solution. The deployment process for Cisco AnyConnect is straightforward. I downloaded it from the organization's homepage, following the provided version and manuals. Configuration files and information are usually sent through a separate channel for security. Once downloaded, I set it up, and it has been running on my PC since, without any hassle. No team is needed for deployment and maintenance. The instructions are clear, and it is not a large or complex task.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Cisco AnyConnect VPN to others. Overall, I would rate the solution as a nine out of ten.

A reliable, easy to configure and stable solution with excellent SSL security
Pros and Cons
  • "It is reliable and easy to configure, and the Cisco Firewall can last for many years."
  • "It would be good to have some improvements to the quality of service."

What is our primary use case?

We use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to connect to the office network from the general internet. So whenever anybody works remotely, it is used to connect to the office network.

How has it helped my organization?

Compared to other products, it is reliable and easy to configure, and the Cisco Firewall can last for many years.

What is most valuable?

It is a reliable solution, and the users face no problems or errors. It also connects quickly, and the SSL security is excellent.

What needs improvement?

I wouldn't want anything to be improved per se. It is reliable without any errors, and the configuration is easy. However, when different configurations need to be completed, we need to get in touch with Cisco Technical Assistance Center because we don't have enough documentation on the website.

In terms of additional features, it would be good to have some improvements to the quality of service. For example, if somebody on your VPN wants to have a Google meeting or WebEx call, they should be given priority traffic.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Almost everyone at our organization uses Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, so about 200 to 300 users.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is very good.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I would rate the setup process a six out of ten. It was manual work, and though the configuration was easy, we still needed to understand it. But overall, It was a fair experience.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding cost, we had to purchase the Cisco CON-SNT and AnyConnect licenses separately. We purchased a three-year package because it was comparatively cheaper than the one-year package.

It costs around 80,000 Indian rupees for a hundred licenses, so approximately $1,020 USD. I rate the price a six out of ten, but we get value for the price.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this product a nine out of ten.

High performance, simple initial setup, and reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is the consistency, I have not had any issues with the performance."
  • "When using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client when my laptop goes into sleep mode the VPN wants me to enter the password again. I should not have to enter the information again. If the laptop is on and it is not switched off, the password should be in the VPN saved and secured."

What is our primary use case?

I use the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client on my laptop to connect to the VPN.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is the consistency, I have not had any issues with the performance.

What needs improvement?

When using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client when my laptop goes into sleep mode the VPN wants me to enter the password again. I should not have to enter the information again. If the laptop is on and it is not switched off, the password should be in the VPN saved and secured.

In the next release, the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client should add fingerprint login authentication. Many of my other applications have it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for approximately one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client has been stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the solution has been good. Everyone in the organization is using the solution and we have not had any issues.

We have approximately 2,000 people in my organization that use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used the support from Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used other solution because the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client works very well.

How was the initial setup?

The setup of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client was easy, it did not take a lot of time, approximately one hour.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others that a VPN is necessary because data should be secured. We all lose. A VPN is advised and I have not had any problems with this solution and I did not have the need to try another one.

I would recommend Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to others.

I rate Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client an eight out of ten.

User-friendly, robust, and easy to use in any environment
Pros and Cons
  • "The tool is user-friendly, robust and easy to use in any environment."
  • "The security of the product has certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company for our clients so that they can connect to their data center or SharePoint devices. Whatever servers are put into the DMZ cannot be directly accessed in our company's environment by anyone, so we need to give such people a readily available account, which should be on the VPN, following which the certificate should be generated, and then they can then log in to our environment.

What needs improvement?

The security of the product has certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for seven to eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Considering the VPN part of the tool, I rate the product's stability as eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

If Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client was the best in terms of scalability, then I don't know why there are other solutions with similar offerings in the market. There are pros and cons attached to every solution.

In my company's environment, there are around 3,000 people using VPN connections.

The product is regularly used in my company.

How are customer service and support?

For the last three years, I have not opened any tickets with the product's support. I just deploy the tool, take care of the architecture and do the installation of the devices. Once the setup has been done, I am moved to another project. I don't work in operations.

How was the initial setup?

The product's setup phase depends on the kind of use cases for which a person wants to use it. In general, the setup process is not very critical, but you need to create a VPN rule so that you know who can access the tool and what the limitations are, after which the potential users of the product can get access to it.

For the product's deployment phase, users need to be created for a steady account, and then ensure that the VPN gets created, after which the company needs to give certain permissions to the users, following which we need to share with them the URLs and everything.

The solution is deployed on an on-premises model.

I need two to four staff members in my company to handle the deployment and maintenance phases.

What was our ROI?

The value derived from the use of the product stems from the fact that the setup phase is easy. When you connect with Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, you get to know how your VPNs are connected in your environment. If there are any failures in the VPNs, the tool provides a clear message stating why it failed. The tool is user-friendly, robust and easy to use in any environment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My company has a three-year or a four-year license. In scenarios attached to a solution where the product may be reaching an end-of-support or end-of-life phase, Cisco provides OS support in such environments. If you are in a scenario where the product has reached the end-of-life phase, Cisco should be paid some extra money in addition to the standard licensing fees.

What other advice do I have?

The product improves my company's remote work security because it has lots of security options. We have all the logs of what others are accessing while also having details like where they are accessing, which IP addresses they are using, and from which country they are operating, so we know everything about the users.

The product supports MFA during the tool's deployment in our company. My company has an OTP-based MFA.

I like the support that the tool provides for the devices, which are meant for routing and switching purposes mostly. The tool is very pretty good when it comes to the security part. The tool is truly into the network and security parts.

The VPN capabilities of the product have enhanced certain capabilities in our company since it allows us to track everything related to the outside world. Anyone from the outside cannot directly access our company's environment. The VPN capabilities of the product ensure that there are fewer chances of attacks on our environment.

The network visibility provided by Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is good. Ultimately, the tool's algorithms for the network, along with the calculation part, are good. Cisco's products and support are good. The tool is user-friendly enough for people to understand it very well.

The product generally offers good support to its users. If anyone gets stuck with the product, then they can use Google to find the solution to the issue and use some of the information for survival purposes in a particular environment. If you just Google about Cisco devices, you can get a lot of information. The product is also easy to implement.

Speaking about how I assess the impact of Cisco on your company's network performance, I would say that the product provides us with details, and the time when we click on the client or the application of the solution that is installed in our environment, it gives details in its logs like how much GB of data is being downloaded and where all the company's systems are connected along with the connection area. Even the details of the IP with which the company's systems are connected are given in the solution.

I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Offers good stability, easy to use and good support
Pros and Cons
  • "For our company's needs, AnyConnect is sufficient and very easy to use."
  • "All Cisco equipment tends to be expensive compared to newer options from other vendors."

What is our primary use case?

We use AnyConnect in several ways. Like integrated with our firewall, like host checking, permission-based access, and time-based access controls.

How has it helped my organization?

For our company's needs, AnyConnect is sufficient and very easy to use.

What is most valuable?

What needs improvement?

All Cisco equipment tends to be expensive compared to newer options from other vendors.

Moreover, there are some limitations, like the AnyConnect not being supported on all platforms. For example, it doesn't work with some Android versions. We don't use those features, but it's something to consider.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for about two years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's been stable for us. I would rate the stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. There are around 100 end users using this solution.

The current setup is sufficient for our needs. So, we are not planning to increase the further usage.

How are customer service and support?

We haven't needed to contact them. We have enough internal expertise and resources to handle any issues ourselves. Plus, when we deployed with Cisco technical support assistance, the guys were very customer-friendly and helpful. They always answered our questions and provided maximum upfront support.

How was the initial setup?

It's a moderately complex installation and configuration process, not overly complicated.

The time depends on the specific features and stages involved, like designing, implementing, and configuring.

For a full deployment with access for 100 users, it might take around a week. A basic configuration and installation could be done within two days.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the deployment ourselves. We have the expertise necessary for Cisco AnyConnect solutions. We've deployed AnyConnect on-premises.

We have a team of two engineers and three technicians who manage the deployment and maintenance of Cisco AnyConnect.

What was our ROI?

It can connect users from anywhere and at anytime.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay yearly licenses.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We're actually considering deploying a different firewall due to its cost-effectiveness and feature set, providing similar functionalities like load balancing and routing protocols at a more competitive price.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten. It's been within our budget, a reliable and valuable tool for our company. If it wasn't in our budget, we would have opted for a different solution.

Easy to use, stable, has no connectivity issues, and allows users to work from home
Pros and Cons
  • "What I like most about Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is that it's easy to use, and that is its main advantage. You can use it without the need for any setup because it's centrally pre-installed, so you just need to log in with your username and password. I didn't experience any problems with the solution in terms of losing connectivity. It works very well every time."
  • "In terms of areas for improvement in Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, from my point of view, the solution works well and right now I don't see the need to improve it. Probably a better user interface could be created for Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, but its core is VPN creation, and that works well, though I'm not a VPN specialist, and I'm not an expert on how to create a VPN, how the VPN gateway works, how it's implemented, and what's the architecture behind it. A two-factor authentication feature was recently added to the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. In the past, you only needed to log in with your username and password, but now, there's a token, and the user interface for that token isn't that good. That's another area for improvement. Cisco should also make the two-factor authentication better in the solution. What I'd like added to the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client in its next release is a better two-factor authentication, in particular, the validity of the code being shorter because sometimes when I get the code and I add it to the client, it's invalid, though I'm unsure if it's centrally set up that way or if its a characteristic of the product. Making the interface of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client more user-friendly is also what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution."

What is our primary use case?

I'm using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for my home office, and for me, that's the only usage scenario for it.

How has it helped my organization?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client has improved my organization because it enables your home office or remote working, and it's a key product based on the current situation where remote working or working from home is necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

What is most valuable?

What I like most about Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is that it's easy to use, and that is its main advantage. You can use it without the need for any setup because it's centrally pre-installed, so you just need to log in with your username and password. I didn't experience any problems with the solution in terms of losing connectivity. It works very well every time.

What needs improvement?

In terms of areas for improvement in Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, from my point of view, the solution works well and right now I don't see the need to improve it.

Making the interface of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client more user-friendly is also what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for eight years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client seems to be a stable solution because I didn't experience any instability from it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not sure how scalable the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is because I'm only an end-user and not an administrator.

How are customer service and support?

I'm unable to evaluate technical support for the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client because I've never used support for it as I had no problems with the product.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

A solution was used before going with the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, but I forgot the name of the previous solution. I'm not exactly sure of the reason behind choosing Cisco, but it could be because the older solution was a little bit complicated in terms of its licensing policy.

How was the initial setup?

In terms of setting up the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, there's no need to install it in my case because it's pre-installed centrally as part of the package my company has. My team didn't waste any time on the installation because you can use it right out of the box.

In my company, the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client was pre-installed and pre-configured.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't have any information about the licensing costs of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client because normal users like me don't know the pricing information.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I didn't evaluate other options over Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client because as an end-user, I don't have any impact in terms of product evaluation.

What other advice do I have?

I'm currently using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client, in particular, just for standard installation on workstations in my company.

In terms of the version of the solution I'm using, it's version 4.9, but I don't have any influence on which version of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to use because it's centrally installed in the company via the system management center, but I suppose it's been updated.

My company has about three thousand five hundred users of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Almost everybody uses it to work from home, for example, developers, security consultants, etc. My company is a telecommunication and IT company, so just about everybody works with computers, works from home, and needs Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

The solution is maintained by the central end-user support team, particularly two or three people.

Currently, there's no plan to increase the usage of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client because my company has been reorganizing and letting go of some positions, and this means there's no need to increase the number of users of the solution.

I would recommend the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to others looking into implementing it because, in my experience, it works very well and seems to be stable. I have no problems with the product. The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is easy to use, so I'm recommending it to others.

I'm rating the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client ten out of ten.

My company is not a partner of Cisco. My company is a customer and doesn't sell the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to customers.

Secure, easy to set up, and offers good connectivity
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is very easy."
  • "I haven't found there are any shortcomings in the product. For how I use it, it works well."

What is our primary use case?

We are using the solution to accommodate working from home. We need to connect with our office server so that we can use the work network. This allows us to connect each team member from their personal computer. We also use a firewall to provide a set of rules that the organization chooses in terms of access. We use AnyConnect to connect everyone to the office server and the services.

What is most valuable?

It's great that this product is providing a virtual cloud-based service. With it, we have some servers in some other places, and we are able to connect with our local network provider. We are able to connect to those office servers and that's important to me.

The initial setup is very easy.

The solution is stable.

You get up to 12 hours of connectivity in one session.

It will not allow anybody to use my credentials to access my machine. There's two-factor authentification and good security.

What needs improvement?

I haven't found there are any shortcomings in the product. For how I use it, it works well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for about four and a half years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a stable product. I have a good connection. In India, we have 200 to 300 Mbps and that seems fine. It offers up to 12 hours of connectivity in one go.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not aware of the scalability. It's not an aspect of the product I've tested.

There are more than 5,000 people in my company right now. That's in India and around the world. About 50% of the people are doing work from home. Therefore, a good number of people are using this product regularly.

How are customer service and support?

We have our own support in the company that we can reach out to if we have issues. We do not directly contact Cisco. My understanding is they have a good, strong backup team and a second team that can provide installations.

How was the initial setup?

It is simple to set up the product. It's not overly complex or difficult for me.

In this particular organization, it came pre-installed. However, I had installed it. That was at another company. I just got the application and installed it on my local server, and used the documentation provided to handle the process.

It took about 15 to 20 minutes to deploy the product. It's very fast.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You do need to pay to use the service. However, I don't deal with payments or licensing. I can't speak to the exact price.

What other advice do I have?

We're a customer and end-user.

I'd recommend the product. It's quite secure, and Cisco provides good services. If you need to connect on a regular basis to your organization, AnyCOnnect is quite useful. The VPN on AnyConnect is easily modified. Nobody will be able to look into your system if you are using AnyConnect. It's better than any free options on the market.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. The current technology is very good.

Good posturing and great web interface but needs to be easier to implement
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to scale."
  • "We'd like the product to be cheaper."

What is our primary use case?

We have around 500 employees working all over Qatar as well as outside - in India and Egypt. And they use to connect to our corporate network with this product.

What is most valuable?

The posturing is working well.

We have network access control. It's nice to have and easy to manage and easy to add routes, et cetera. We can easily add the route over the VPN whenever we have a new network.

The setup was simple with a little bit of assistance.

It is easy to scale.

The solution is stable.

It has a good web interface.

What needs improvement?

Initially, we had an issue with the posturing, however, now it's improved. A lot of improvement can happen on this still as well. Right now, the posturing that we can do is only over the Windows update. We are considering the services. We cannot assess whether that particular update is installed or not.

The implementation can be difficult and time-consuming without help.

We'd like the product to be cheaper.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for maybe two and a half years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable so as long as we don't have any restart happening or any power interruptions.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale. You simply add licenses. It's easy.

We have about 500 users on the solution.

How are customer service and support?

We request support from a local vendor many times. We have not lately used Cisco. The vendor is quite good. However, they are very busy, however. If we ask them for immediate support, we cannot get them. That's likely due to the fact that they're the only good technical vendor for Cisco here in Qatar.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are using Cisco AnyConnect as well as OpenVPN.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was easy. We had vendor support. The vendor support was good. The local vendor was good here.

We spent around a week finalizing the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

We have a local partner or local vendor here in Qatar. They helped us with the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

You are charged per user, unlike, for example, Fortinet. With FortiClient, you can add as much as you want.

I can't speak to the exact cost, however. We have a procurement team that handles that.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer and end-user.

We recently updated the solution maybe three months ago. We are on the newest version.

It's a good solution. That said, considering the current market, it's a bit more costly than other solutions.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten. I'd rate it higher if the implementation was easier and the cost was lower.
