Is stable and scalable, and has good technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "I'd rate Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client at nine out of ten for scalability."
  • "Complicated scenarios are difficult to deploy. On a scale from one to ten, with one being the most difficult, I'd give a rating of between two and three for the initial setup."

What is our primary use case?

We use Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for posture, that is, checking the security tools on the endpoint desktop, such as the antivirals or the Windows firewall, and the version of the operating system.

What is most valuable?

I have found the posture function to be the most useful feature.

What needs improvement?

The clientless posture can be improved or enhanced. The deployment of upgrades can be improved as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with it for more than 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'd rate the stability at eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'd rate Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client at nine out of ten for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

Cisco's technical support is the best, and I would rate them at ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Complicated scenarios are difficult to deploy. On a scale from one to ten, with one being the most difficult, I'd give a rating of between two and three for the initial setup.

We used Microsoft SCCM to deploy the agent, which was already deployed at the customer's organization. We had two to three team members who worked on the deployment, and the deployment took three months.

We provide 24/7 maintenance of the solution to our customers depending on the SLAs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We are in the North African region, and Cisco products are expensive for us. On a scale from one to ten with one being very affordable and ten being expensive, I'd rate the price at eight.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would give Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client an eight out of ten.

Seamless connectivity that is scalable to thousands of users
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution provides seamless connectivity to the VPN without delay."
  • "The solution should not rely on tokens from the mobile application for logins."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to connect to a VPN for remote work.

What is most valuable?

The solution provides seamless connectivity to the VPN without delay when you have a good internet connection.

What needs improvement?

The solution should not rely on tokens from the mobile application for logins. If you don't have your phone handy, you can't log in. Email notifications or another single sign-in method would resolve this issue.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable with no technical issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable to a wide range of users. Our company has 3,000 users and many worked remotely during Covid without any issues.

How are customer service and support?

Our internal IT support team handles most issues but the solution's technical support is good when needed.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The solution was implemented in-house.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

When researching options, it is important to assess compatibility, the number of users, and the time it takes to implement a solution.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Good encryption and accessibility with a simple setup
Pros and Cons
  • "You can use it from anywhere."
  • "If you're just turning on your laptop, it should connect automatically without keying in the credentials."

What is our primary use case?

We need Client software installed on our laptop. The Client has to be configured with the VPN server IP address. When it connects, it will provide a private IP address. It will ask for the location, and credentials will be checked on the server if the server is created with the Active Directory. It will check if you are authorized. If you are, you will be authenticated, and you will get connected to the VPN.

What is most valuable?

The best feature is the Cisco IPsec. That is the encryption. It's providing integrity for your data.

You can use it from anywhere. You just need to have the Internet. That is the best part, the availability.

The initial setup is very simple.

It is a stable solution.

You can scale the product.

What needs improvement?

Every time you need to key in the credentials, it'll generate an OTP, and you need to check the OTP and need to key in the OTP. It's work to connect to VPN. That could be improved.

If you're just turning on your laptop, it should connect automatically without keying in the credentials. There should be an option to right-click and enable the VPN to connect. There might be some inherent risk, however, there must be a way to have it easier and to connect while keeping the process safe.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for around three or four years at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Based on my experience, the solution has been stable. It doesn't crash or freeze. There are no bugs or glitches. It is reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cisco AnyConnect can be configured on the Cisco ASR or VPN Concentrator. There, you can have multiple contacts you can create. It is scalable.

More than 1,000 people use the solution currently.

How are customer service and support?

I have never been in contact with a Cisco engineer.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is easy to set up. It's not complex or difficult. Configuring it and everything might only take about one to two hours.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We do have to pay a yearly licensing fee. I am unsure of the exact costs.

What other advice do I have?

We are a Cisco gold partner.

I'm not really sure which version of the solution we're using.

It is a good option for people. I would recommend the product.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Reliable, quick to set up, and easy to connect remotely
Pros and Cons
  • "The dashboard and interface are fine."
  • "More frequent updates would be ideal."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to access my servers at work. It's for connection to my VPN servers.

What is most valuable?

The product makes it easy to connect remotely to machines that are remote.

The initial setup is straightforward.

The solution is stable.

The dashboard and interface are fine.

I don't have any issues with the level of security on offer.

What needs improvement?

They should do more updates regularly. More frequent updates would be ideal.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used the solution maybe for 10 years or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the product is great. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not quite sure about the scalability part. It's just a client tool that I use on my machine. It's not really necessary to scale per se.

Maybe 500 people are using the product.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. It's straightforward and not overly difficult or complex.

The setup is very quick. It doesn't take more than two minutes.

The solution is supported by our help desk, which is comprised of about three people.

What about the implementation team?

I was able to handle the initial setup myself. I didn't need any outside assistance. I didn't use consultants or integrators.

What was our ROI?

I have not witnessed an ROI while using this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't handle the licensing aspect. I can't speak to the costs involved.

What other advice do I have?

I'm unsure of which version of the solution we are on. My understanding is that it is the most recent version.

I'd recommend this solution to others. It seems like a good product. I'd rate it eight out of ten.

Reliable, easy to set up, and has helpful technical support services
Pros and Cons
  • "Technical support is always helpful."
  • "If there's any cloud version available, instead of on-premise, that would be ideal."

What is our primary use case?

It's for mobile users accessing corporate resources from the internet.

What is most valuable?

For some with a client list, you don't have to prepare any client beforehand. You just access the URL and you can download it, so that's easy. It doesn't require any prep on the client's end which makes implementation faster. It's an easy initial setup.

Technical support is always helpful.

It's stable.

The solution has the potential to scale.

What needs improvement?

If there's any cloud version available, instead of on-premise, that would be ideal. That's one thing that could be helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've had a few cases over the last five years

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't received any complaints about this solution. We haven't had a word of many bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze on clients. It is reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution can scale to a certain point. Up to 500, companies should be okay. After that, we may run into problems. That's our product design. That's maybe not have something to do with the product itself.

Typically, our clients get licenses for 20 to 30 people. All levels of an organization can have access to the product. Anyone can use it.

How are customer service and support?

We provide technical support to our clients.

In terms of us reaching out to support, it's rare that I get disappointed with Cisco tech. They are quite responsive and knowledgeable as well.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementation process is simple.

The size of the deployment depends on the amount of personnel you'll need, however, in our experience, we've only ever needed one or two people to deploy it.

After we get an order from the customer, they have some admin work to be done, which takes probably up to two weeks or three weeks. After three weeks, we have the project manager and the engineer assigned to the opportunity. Then, it might take up to ten days.

Maintenance is minimal. We may only need one or two people to handle maintenance. We don't have many issues with the solution.

What about the implementation team?

We provide assistance to our clients in terms of setting the solution up.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing usually involves a yearly contract. I don't have any details in terms of what the exact pricing is, exactly.

The pricing is all-inclusive. You don't need to concern yourself with add-on costs.

What other advice do I have?

We are a partner. We sell to and implement for our customers.

We tend to use the latest version that we have on our server. It may not be the latest in the market, however, our engineering team chooses the best software for our service, so it's the latest on our server. The difference is that it may not be the latest in the market.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

Excellent performance and connection; it always works and is simple to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of this solution is that it works all of the time."
  • "It should autodetect or monitor it, when I am in the office it goes to the network in the office, or when I'm not at the office, it automatically activates my VPN connection."

What is our primary use case?

We use the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client in our home office for our VPN connections.

When we are working remotely, we click on the VPN, and nothing more.

What is most valuable?

Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client works well, we don't have any issues with it.

The most valuable feature of this solution is that it works all of the time.

In terms of speed, it depends on the bandwidth of the system rather than being an issue with Cisco. It's more of a bandwidth limitation issue.

What needs improvement?

I would like that it automatically detects when I'm not on the corporate network, it would automatically connect to the VPN. I don't want to have to click the button anymore. It should autodetect or monitor it, when I am in the office it goes to the network in the office, or when I'm not at the office, it automatically activates my VPN connection.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the company and using the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for five years.

I have never updated this solution myself, our IT department updates our solutions. I am not aware which version we are using at the moment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is excellent. It works all of the time. I have not had any issues with the stability of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I am not familiar with the scalability of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. It is handled by our IT department.

This solution is used by everyone in our organization who owns a laptop. We have many thousands of users.

I'm not in the IT Department, so I'm not sure how many people have this tool on their laptops, but I believe everyone does.

How are customer service and support?

I have never contacted technical support. There is no need. We go to our internal IT support first. There is a clear boundary between the user in the company and any further assistance.

How was the initial setup?

It is included in the standard software package. I didn't need to install it. The IT department generates the default configuration of the laptop. In the end, it was already there and fully configured.

What about the implementation team?

We have an internal IT department. Like in any company, it's an email help desk. I am not aware of how many people are in the IT support team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not aware of the pricing.

What other advice do I have?

As an end-user, it's good, I would rate Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client a nine out of ten.

Plenty of functionality, integrates with Active Directory, and highly scalable
Pros and Cons
  • "Some of the main features of the solution are it has the ability to integrate with our Active Directory to allow each user to have one less password to have to remember and it has great functionality."
  • "The support could be more proactive in their recommendations. I noticed that the Cisco support agents tend to leave customers to do what they need to do in many ways, and you can choose how you want to do it. However, it would be great if they could proactively be involved in best practices and let other customers know how most people are doing it."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to controls the VPN tunnel between people outside connected to the internet into the office network. This is done by prompting them for a username and password for security.

What is most valuable?

Some of the main features of the solution are it has the ability to integrate with our Active Directory to allow each user to have one less password to have to remember and it has great functionality.

What needs improvement?

There is one very specific improvement that could be done regarding users logging in. When a user logs in with an expired password we did not know that the password reset function would prompt them for a new password and this system was able to be deployed on this solution. For 10 years, every 30 days, the salespeople who did not want to go inside and reset their password at the 29-day mark, would call me up and have me reset their password for them to gain access. Additionally, it would be beneficial to have at the level that I am at, the ability to sign in to this solution before you log in to the Windows environment without having to upgrade the license. This should be included in the full packages.

Alternatively, when Cisco notices customers do not have this feature turned on they could call up its customers and inform them they do not have it turned on and could walk them through how to do it. It turned out to be just two lines of code to accomplish the task. In our case, during any of the interactions with Cisco over the years, they could have just mentioned to us this feature that would have real value-added to your employees. We do have a CCNA in-house and he did not realize that he could turn that feature on very easily. The white paper was probably available, but since our network administrator did not know about it, he never suggested setting it up.

In an upcoming release, there should be better reporting capabilities, this is something that is available in premium packages, or if you were to get a Cisco ISE. Essentially, the upgraded reporting shows a live version of what is going on, but it does not show you historical information unless you hook it up to a SCIM, Cisco ISE, or Cisco ACS. This should be included in all packages and you should not have to upgrade or purchase other solutions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for approximately 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

When it comes to the stability of the solution it is stable, functional, and it just works.

We plan to increase our usage when our employee base increases.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability of the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client a ten out of 10.

Currently, on a day-to-day basis, there are approximately 85 users using the solution but we have 221 registered users that could use it at any given time.

How are customer service and technical support?

The support could be more proactive in their recommendations. I noticed that the Cisco support agents tend to leave customers to do what they need to do in many ways, and you can choose how you want to do it. However, it would be great if they could proactively be involved in best practices and let other customers know how most people are doing it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously we had a standard Cisco VPN client, but it was not as functional as it did not have the ability to tie into the Active Directory.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was pretty simple. However, we did have onboarding support assist us with it. Our network administrator at the beginning of an install will always call Cisco support to get the expert on the phone. They provided us with white papers on how to do the setup allowing any setup moving forward is done correctly the first time. We did also purchase the premium support, for which there was no additional fee for the installation guideance.

What about the implementation team?

Our in-house team did the implementation with their premium support tech agent on the line through a WebEx. The during of the implementation took approximately two hours.

We have a network administrator to do any maintenance that is required for the solution, but once we set it up, there really was no maintenance needed. However, we did attach an SSL to link it and set up a DNS entry to allow our users the ability to go to a specific entry instead of just typing in the IP address with the enhanced security.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay for an annual subscription. Additionally to the subscription, we thought in order to connect this solution to the Active Directory we had to purchase a Cisco ACS, Access Control System. It turns out we did not actually need it.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to those wanting to implement this solution is you could purchase the license for this solution and set it up with your ASA directly without having to purchase a Cisco ACS.

I rate Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
