What is most valuable?

One of the nicest things is that parts of it are highly intuitive. For instance, black-listing, white-listing, and things of that nature are very… more»

How has it helped my organization?

What needs improvement?

We find bugs, just like anyone else. We bring them to Cisco's attention. If there was one area I would like to see improved it might be having… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We were using Proofpoint and then we switched to Cisco. As I mentioned above, reportability was one of the main reasons we switched, but the… more»

What other advice do I have?

In retrospect, I would probably want to talk to someone like myself. I'm now using Cisco security appliances and I can see how someone like me in… more»

How has it helped my organization?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If you consider Cisco's price with the Dell, you will definitely lose with Cisco. But Cisco has a major area of equipment… more»

What is most valuable?

A good feature of Cisco Catalyst is that it records crash log files which can be used to literally identify the cause of a crash because they have a lot of information. And Cisco… more»

What needs improvement?

Currently, Catalyst is completely proprietary with Cisco. They should have programmability options, through open-source controllers. Also, some features, are very complex to… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Generally, Cisco Catalyst would be relatively expensive compared to the competition, it would be on the expensive side. But I am not involved in the commercial part.

What other advice do I have?

I would give this solution an eight out of 10. To get to a 10, it should become more open-source friendly, more customizable, easy to configure, and less complex in terms of the… more»

What is most valuable?

* Most of same old ASA 5520 config could be used for the new 5516-X model. The ASDM interface is improved and can also be configured to the Firepower settings. * I am used to the ASA… more»

How has it helped my organization?

It works better through specs than our old ASA 5520. It seems to perform the same functionality unless you buy the additional threat protection licenses, so this is a disappointment… more»

What needs improvement?

* It is confusing to have two management interfaces, e.g., ASDM and Firepower Management Center. It would be nice to have a Windows program instead of a virtual appliance for the… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

ASA pricing seems high compared to other firewalls, such as the Sophos XG models. The licensing features are getting more complicated. These should be simplified.

What is most valuable?

The flexibility is its most valuable feature; the ability to quickly deploy a number of help machines. It is not constrained by what we want to do.

How has it helped my organization?

We are in the architecting phase. We are looking at it being more agile in our deployed headquarters. We are in the testing and deployment phase.

What needs improvement?

The product's disadvantage is that it is not necessarily open as I would like it to be. The main platform has some closed features that I would… more»

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. I would advise someone considering this solution not to enable it with MAC. They are going to be in a very bad state after enabling this… more»

What needs improvement?

I would like it to be easier to manage the server, create VMs, and manage the VMs on the client.
