I am a network engineer and work primarily on Cisco products, including the Catalyst Switches.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the ease of configuring a switch. It gives you a lot of control.

The community support is good.

I am satisfied with the documentation that is provided by Cisco.

What needs improvement?

Reducing the price would be an improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Cisco Catalyst switches for the past year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is definitely stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would say that this product is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I have never used the Cisco technical support. The community support is pretty good and there are a lot of resources available online.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have not used networking products by another vendor.

How was the initial setup?

Catalyst switches are pretty easy to install. It takes between 20 and 30 minutes per switch.

What about the implementation team?

I am the only person who is maintaining the switches.

What other advice do I have?

This is a product that works find and I definitely recommend it. Interface-wise, it is pretty straightforward and I haven't had any issues with it.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

    What is our primary use case?

    Our primary use is LAN and WAN links for our enterprise network. 

    Cisco Catalyst is used to connect all our WAN links to a central data center. 

    How has it helped my organization?

    • Low maintenance and very stable; not much of a problem. 
    • It helps keep our network connections in a healthy state. 

    What is most valuable?

    • VLAN
    • Routing capabilities and security features 
    • It can easily be enabled and used as need dictates. 

    For how long have I used the solution?

    One to three years.

    What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    It has a very high cost, but understandably, due to its very good quality. This is the reason why some customers opt to buy cheaper brands with same/similar features.

    I find their system throughput and Cisco support very useful.

    What needs improvement?

    The price can definitely be lower. I also think that a Combi Port should be added to the next release.

    I have been using Cisco Catalyst Switches for about two years.

    They're quite stable. Our Cisco Catalyst Switches have been working for many years.

    Cisco Catalyst Switches are very scalable.

    Technical support is great. 

    How was the initial setup?

    The initial setup is easy.

    What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

    The price can definitely be lower. I think the quality is much higher than the other LANs, but the price must be lower on this.

    What other advice do I have?

    On a scale from one to ten, I would give Cisco Catalyst Switches an eight.
