What is our primary use case?

The solution can be used for family or small offices.

What is most valuable?

The solution is reliable. It has high technology and security. The solution’s network security and management features are among the best in the world, along with Palo Alto.

What needs improvement?

The product must be made cloud-based.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for more than ten years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool is stable. I rate the stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is suitable for enterprises. We have around 80 customers.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is very good. Cisco provides certifications. All users should have good knowledge of how to deploy Cisco products.

It was easy to install the product.

The tool provides good value for money. It has good functionality, security, technology, and stability. It provides very good service.

Cost effective and good for small businesses but not flexible in terms of configuration
Pros and Cons
  • "For a home or small business, the solution offers a very good web interface."
  • "It would be ideal if they could do more configurations and offer more flexibility. Right now, it's not flexible at all."

What is most valuable?

The solution is a very good cost-effective product. It has the reputation of a Cisco system, however, it's provided at a much smaller price.

For a home or small business, the solution offers a very good web interface.

What needs improvement?

We've realized that the solution is a very different product from other larger Cisco offerings, even though it's sort-of marketed as a cost-effective alternative for those that need something smaller.

It would be ideal if they could do more configurations and offer more flexibility. Right now, it's not flexible at all.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been working with the solution for about seven or eight years at this point. It's been quite a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. That's not a problem. It doesn't have bugs or glitches or suffer from crashes. It's pretty reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

As far as I understand it, the solution isn't too scalable. The hardware isn't really intended to expand out. It works well for a home or small business, however, it's not really acceptable for a large-scale enterprise.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We only really work with Cisco. However, we are currently looking for alternatives.

That said, it's rare we move off of Cisco and work with another company.

What other advice do I have?

We're a reseller. We work almost exclusively with Cisco.

We are also working with Cisco in providing networking, wireless, WiFi, and everything related to them that works within security. We don't work with Meraki, however. We prefer standard networking devices. We're not comfortable with cloud administration.

We work with small businesses and small firewalls when we use this product and we only really use this particular solution on a few of our projects.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate the solution at a seven.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Good pricing and performance, but offers no support in Iran
Pros and Cons
  • "The pricing of the solution is very good. It works well within our network."
  • "If possible, we'd like to see support in our country, but it will be difficult as we are located in Iran."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution because of it's relatively cheaper price (as compared to other options).

What is most valuable?

The pricing of the solution is very good. It works well within our network.

What needs improvement?

There isn't anything negative to point out about the solution. Like all Cisco products, it's very good.

If possible, we'd like to see support in our country, but it will be difficult as we are located in Iran.

The solution doesn't have rich features and only offers a small support for expander products and protocols.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Cisco products for about ten years and Cisco Linksys ethernet switches for about four or five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is very good. We've never had any issues. There are issues, however, with the Cisco firewall in the network. It may cause crashes, but the Lynksys solution has worked very well.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is not scalable in a larger organization network; we prefer to use Cisco Catalyst Ethernet Switches for enterprise-level organizations. For smaller organizations, because of the price, Cisco Lynksys is a better choice.

How are customer service and technical support?

We're located in Iran, and therefore don't have access to technical support for this or any other enterprise solution provider.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy.

Deployment times vary and are dependant on design options. However,  when I want to implement a basic installation and configuration, it does not take long. I can set up and run Cisco Ethernet solution in less than 10 minutes.

What about the implementation team?

We handle the implementation ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

All of our Cisco products are on-premises deployment models.

I'd recommend the solution for those who are price-conscious and those who are looking for good performance.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

A lot of things can be better with these types of devices, however, it depends on Cisco's policies. These types of products could support more features and protocols in the future. Cisco could work to improve these types of products, by enhancing performance and other related items.

Easy to install, but the stability and technical support could be improve
Pros and Cons
  • "Overall, they have a good quality product."
  • "It's no longer stable, the Wi-Fi on this device is no longer stable."

What is our primary use case?

We use Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches as our WiFi access point.

What is most valuable?

Overall, they have a good quality product.

What needs improvement?

When we first installed it, it was very stable, and everything worked fine. After a few years, it begins to become unstable.

We started having problems with the access points after about five or six years.

Users are unable to connect to Wi-Fi and it must be restarted on a regular basis. Because the Wi-Fi occasionally goes out and then comes back on. There are several issues like this. It's no longer stable, the Wi-Fi on this device is no longer stable.

The technical support could be improved. They are not very responsive.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches for four or five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

After a few years, it is no longer stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 10 to 15 users in our company.

How are customer service and support?

I contacted technical support, but they were unable to assist me.

I was talking to someone when help was suddenly disconnected. I attempted to connect again without any assistance.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. There are a few settings inside.

You don't require a technical team, you have to understand the basics, and the abbreviations to deal with it.

What about the implementation team?

You can do the installation yourself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is no license required.

What other advice do I have?

With what I have experienced in the last two months, I would not recommend using this solution.

It should be working, as a trend name that is well-known, it should be better. I would Cisco Linksys Ethernet Switches a four out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A good product that is stable and has a lot of demand
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable and good product."
  • "It should be cheaper. We need a better price from Cisco. Its initial setup and support should also be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We sell Cisco switches and routers. In unmanaged switches, we sell Linksys. In India, there are only a few models available in Linksys. Nowadays, they are only selling Wi-Fi routers and switches in the name of Linksys. Other products are available under the brand name Cisco.

We are using Cisco products for the core banking sector. We are using Linksys products in educational institutes and small enterprises because Linksys products are cheaper than Cisco switches.

What is most valuable?

It is a stable and good product.

What needs improvement?

It should be cheaper. We need a better price from Cisco.

Its initial setup and support should also be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been selling Linksys switches for the past 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable.

How are customer service and technical support?

Cisco's live support is not so good in India. It takes too much time. When you send a mail to Cisco or you go for live support, it takes a lot of time to get support from Cisco. They should be faster as well as more knowledgeable and customer friendly.

How was the initial setup?

It is never easy to add a Cisco switch because they only come with a command-line interface. Cisco switches are using the command-line interface because of security reasons, which is okay and not a problem, but they are not easy to install.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is costly. Because of its pricing, customers are not ready to buy Cisco solutions, and they are going for other brands.

What other advice do I have?

In India, 50% of customers are using Cisco, and the remaining 50% of customers use other products. We will keep on using this solution because it has a never-ending demand from our customers.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. It is a stable product.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
