We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"AlgoSec has significantly enhanced our troubleshooting capabilities. We can quickly pinpoint the causes of routing issues and conduct traffic simulations to identify potential problems.""It helps us to streamline our firewall rules, identify risks, and provide better visibility. This product has significantly saved the time and human efforts in creating and deploying firewall rules. It is now easier for our cybersecurity team to analyze firewalls rules and ACLs, using them in a more efficient manner.""Firewall Analyzer and AppViz are the most important features because they provide a lot of information regarding network segmentation. For us, this is a valuable input in order to provide network segmentation for various applications that we have developed in-house or that we bought from vendors. Our network is not properly segmented right now, but we plan to do it using AlgoSec. This is the most important feature for us right now.""ABF is application-centric. which helps to track changes in the application from day one.""It is helpful in improving the security and compliance of our environment. We can optimize our environment by improving the rules that are not used or are duplicated. FireFlow is useful in creating and implementing new rules. It allows us to automate rules implementation and have more control over the rules.""The most valuable features for us are the functionality it provides for our two main use cases: planning firewall changes and traffic simulation queries.""AlgoSec gives us a high level of confidence that our ACLs and our risk components are actually in line with our expectations. Because we run a lot of our firewalls as an internal change control boundary, we rely on them heavily to segregate vendor networks. It gives us a high level of confidence that those third-party networks that ride on the backbone are segregated and appropriately defined.""Reporting helps us with deliverables, areas of focus for improvement, and much more."

"The role-based access controls give us granular control over what features to present to a customer, and the integration into FortiAnalyzer is the most valuable feature.""The documentation has been satisfactory.""It does a little bit better than some of the other products health-wise and updates-wise. It is really clear that a firewall is getting the signature updates in this timeframe. In some of the other products, usually, you have to go a couple of screens in to see that, but not so much in this product.""From a scalability perspective, I found the solution to be completely fine...The solution's technical support is absolutely fine.""The most valuable feature of this solution is application control.""The customer likes it for the graphs, the dynamics and the reporting functionality it offers.""I am very comfortable with it, including it's reporting on threats and through its activities.""The firewall and site-blocking features are valuable."

Cons
"I would like an intelligent tuner where it could help update rules with the application ID.""The interface is more on the complex side.""Our experience with support has been inconsistent. Sometimes, support is fast and clean; other times, not so much. Occasionally, they have taken a while to respond or provided an inadequate workaround instead of a solution.""We have a fairly complex routing environment that AlgoSec struggled with having dual routers and first hop routing protocols. The initial period when we were doing an installation with their support desk was fairly challenging.""It would be nice to have a good tool for network map discovery in the GUI to make it more user-friendly.""It would be very helpful to have a direct link to the relevant firewall policy embedded within reports when there are warnings or risks indicated.""It seems that AlgoSec created a VSYS (Virtual system) for each virtual router name, even though our firewall has only a single VSYS.""The risk matrix implementation is not easy from an Excel file, so it would be nice to have a solution for creating it directly within the web interface."

More AlgoSec Cons →

"There can be defects in Fortinet FortiPortal when functioning at high temperatures.""It's useful for us but if it had more educational reporting, it would good. It's not necessarily lacking but it's an area that could get better.""Fortinet FortiPortal could improve by providing a learning portal and better security.""The product must have in-built SD-WAN connectivity.""Fingerprint access security would improve this solution.""The solution is more expensive than other products.""I find their logging a little bit trickier to manage. The logging of events is broken up into a lot of different categories. Instead of breaking up my logs into several different places, I personally like to have all the events in one spot and then filter them down. In particular, I find that troubleshooting on Fortinet takes a little bit longer just because of those functional breakups in the logs.""So if it's more than a thousand, there could be some scalability issues. It becomes more complex as you go."
