We performed a comparison between Denodo and Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It is a very stable solution."
"It allows a lot of traceability and you can decide what data you want to collect"
"The most valuable features are query optimization and the single language independence from the sources we're using to catch data."
"While we may not be using all the features of Denodo at this time, we have found the data virtualization features to be very useful in helping us connect our data sources together, bringing all our data into one platform."
"The most valuable aspects of this solution are the short time frame in which you can deliver and connect."
"Denodo makes it easy to export data as a service or data link to other services."
"It is easy to virtualize data using the solution."
"In general, it's good for us to make tests so we can scout the data."
"The CAEM is very useful in its modularity and portability."
"The installation of the client ODI Studio is easy."
"It is an ETL tool, which does the extract, transform, and load."
"The most valuable features of ODI are the ease of development, you can have a template, and you can onboard transfer very quickly. There's a lot of knowledge modules available that we can use. If you want to connect, for example, a Sibyl, SQL, Oracle, or different products, we don't have to develop them from scratch. They are available, but if it's not, we can go into the marketplace and see if there's a connector there. Having the connector available reduces the amount of hard work needed. We only have to put the inputs and outputs. In some of the products, we use there is already integration available for ODI, which is helpful."
"The initial setup is easy."
"Besides loading data, we do most of our transformations in ODI."
"I do not have to maintain a separate ETL instance. I can change the SQL when something is not performing correctly."
"All our systems can be widely integrated by ODI, such as transactional systems, our data warehouses, and B2B integration."
"There are a couple of areas that can be improved in Denodo. From a stability point of view, sometimes we see issues in the data management functionality. This only happens now and then, however, and usually takes place when we add in our own customization."
"We would like this solution to be more universally user-friendly. At present it is really only aimed at IT specialists."
"Denodo has some difficulty supporting large numbers of records."
"It would be beneficial to make sure that the team that will be using Denodo has some kind of training on how to use the product at least a month beforehand, and there could even be some kind of feedback or Q&A sessions to go along with the training. If Denodo were able to provide this kind of training, it would be very helpful to users in insurance and banking companies because the staff are typically older and not always technically-minded."
"Tasks such as conversion of a date format or conversion of a number format that can be done in a very easy way in different languages, like SQL or Oracle, are not so easy to do in Denodo. For example, if you want to convert a date from one format to another, in Oracle it's pretty easy; in Denodo, however, it requires so many lines of code. Simple things that can be done very quickly in other database languages require more lines of code in Denodo."
"The solution should have its own acceleration technology."
"Denodo can improve usage management-related aspects. If you deal with the mini views, it gets stuck. The performance is very slow when we go with a large number of views and high volume."
"User-specific security at the column and row levels needs to be improved. Instead of applying security at every individual level, it would be better if it were at the group or tier level. It will save a lot of time."
"Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is already good as a solution. Still, it needs some editing of its preview package, or if the package is upgraded, that will make Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) even better."
"ODI could improve by being more user-friendly. Informatica, which is also an ETL tool, similar to ODI, but Informatica is very user-friendly, easy to use, and simple to integrate, compared to ODI. ODI has many features, put them all together, and sometimes we get confused about which ones to use, which ones not to use."
"In our company, we haven't tried consuming services from IoT in our company yet, and I would like to know if the solution will support IoT services in the next release."
"The tool should improve its pricing. It prevents the application of Oracle ODI on small and medium projects in countries like Croatia, Germany, or the US. While there are no technological obstacles to using it, the high price makes it unfeasible for projects with smaller budgets."
"The solution lacks some functions and features."
"An area for improvement in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is real-time integration. Currently, my company has a workaround to implement real-time integration, an area on which Oracle must focus more. Real-time integration should be easier in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). Another area for improvement in Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is integration with more publishers and subscribers rather than just database integrations."
"If there was an add-on tool to hide the performance issues and solve them for me, then I might be interested in that as it would provide me value."
"We used a third party to do the implementation of ODI."
