Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution's technical support was great...The initial setup of HPE OneView was easy.""Easy to add servers and get them monitored and manageable.""We also have the 3PAR and the GUI is almost the same. So the recognition is very good.""We could literally swap out a piece of hardware, slide one back into the chassis, and immediately - about three reboots later - it was identical. We didn't have to worry about configuring it, we didn't have to spend any time getting anything into place. It came back and it healed the environment almost immediately.""Gives the business interfaces to view real-time pictures of IT business services.""Administration-wise it's going to be easier. More smooth and more flexible.""The solution's initial setup process was easy...The technical support is good...It is a stable product, and we will use it for a long time.""The initial setup is easy."

"It's easy to spin up VMs and makes cluster maintenance easy, especially with the LCM (Life Cycle Manager) that is built-in. That helps do installs of AHV or even ESXi. You can also upgrade the AOS software that runs the Nutanix clusters. And you can upgrade the firmware, which is nice.""The solution is a high-performance platform that effectively handles three-layered issues like SA and network fiber cables.""Nutanix Prism offers web scaling, which facilitates easy scaling.""Nutanix Prism's dashboard is very simple, and you don't need much knowledge to use it.""Nutanix Insights... does analytics on resource usage for all virtual machines to determine if they are using the allocated resources efficiently or if they are wasting them. It gives us insights into which virtual machines are using the resources over the past months or weeks or days, and which ones are not using them. That way, we can rearrange resource usage for the virtual machines.""I am very satisfied with the technical support.""Prism's best features include the single point of failure (SPOF) and ease of implementation.""It also does a good job when it comes to optimizing performance with machine learning and AI. It's able to identify the VMs that are constrained and not constrained, and which ones are "bully" or not. It gives you a recommendation based on your usage. It learns your user environment."

Cons
"The network configuration part of HPE OneView needs improvement. The solution has way too many features, and there's a need for proper configuration indicators to be put in place.""Sometimes the interface can be a little confusing, sometimes the error messages can be very cryptic, as far as what's actually going on.""Use it, but do not think it is going into the clouds, because it is not. There is room for improvement.""We've had issues, for example, with RAM.""Technical support is not very good. The engineers do not know a lot about the product, even when asked simplistic questions.""I think HPE could make more user-friendly interfaces, exclude Java and move to an HTML5 platform, make more detailed documentation, and lower the price.""It needs more reporting capabilities.""The tool doesn't send automated alerts via email...We should be able to receive notification emails when a server or hardware issue arises, which would be helpful if someone is unavailable in the office."

More HPE OneView Cons →

"The cost is a negative aspect.""Nutanix Prism can be more stable because it's not as stable as VMware.""The stability has room for improvement.""The pricing could be improved.""I would like more insights about virtual machines. It would be helpful to have more detailed information about resource allocation and usage, so we can distribute resources and reassign them more efficiently.""One problem I faced when creating a VM and adding a hard disk to is that Nutanix Prism did not allow me to reduce that VM's hard disk.""There are some things that you can only do via the command line. Over the years that I've been using Nutanix, they've slowly integrated those into Prism, but they're still trying to catch up with a solution that has been around longer, like VMware.""The solution does not support creating hybrid disc clusters."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "HPE had some other solutions, but they were actually quite expensive to buy. So, when OneView came along, it was kind of reasonable in terms of price for licenses, etc."
  • "Use it. It is free."
  • "I am happy with the price."
  • "HPE could lower the price."
  • "I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high."
  • "The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses."
  • "Synergy does not require iLO licenses but servers and enclosures must be purchased."
  • "This license cost for OneView was $3,000 USD."

  • "A lot of my customers complain about the price of renewals, so I think that this can be improved."
  • "Compared to VMware, the price of this solution is great."
  • "Nutanix Prism is priced better than some of the competing solutions."
  • "This product is cheaper than using VMware."
  • "The license we bought for Nutanix Prism is perpetual, so once you have it, you can keep on using it. It's a three-year license that's paid one time. The license we have covers the three-node cluster."
  • "The license for Prism is costlier than other VMs."
  • "We have spent a lot of money on the Nutanix solution with Prism. Yet, for this amount of money we could be buying high-end storage with a lot of IOPS and bandwidth, even more than with Nutanix."
  • "Nutanix have bundles for pricing. On a single bundle, we get everything including vSAN or VMware and there are no additional costs. It is just a single license that is needed."
