We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"They have the ability, since they have a very big R&D team, to create an upgrade for any feature or patch very easily.""The HTTP features for security are very good. We use all of the regular features.""Huawei Ethernet switches are easy to use and can be managed using either the GUI or via the command-line.""The most valuable feature is the audit systems. I also like that it can synchronize on the alternate configuration of products together at the same time.""Pricing-wise, Huawei is quite good.""The technical documentation available is very good. The technical support for the customer is also good - I would give it 8 out of 10.""When you buy a switch from Huawei, the switches come along with a lot of features that you do not need to pay extra money for.""The CLI syntax."

"We have found this solution is quite robust and there are a lot of features in a small device.""The flexible IP firewall and IP network address translation make it very easy to give access to internal services.""The best part about MikroTik Routers is the price.""We're very happy with what we are getting out of the solution in general. The features are good. They're comparable to other brands such as Cisco and HP.""The solution offers very good multi-routing.""We make use of a script that will automatically re-route traffic when connections are slow.""We have not had any downtime with it. It has been a solid performer that way.""This solution is easy to configure and it's very flexible."

Cons
"The interoperability of the devices, in general, on the Huawei switches is not good and is known to be not good. Maybe they can improve this a bit.""The GUI could be improved. It could be much more adaptable.""One of the problems with Huawei is that when you receive a product quote from one of the vendors, you cannot get prices from the other ones because they register your request with Huawei.""In the next release, I would like to see an increase in the performance of DDoS protection systems against all kinds of attack packets.""There needs to be more documentation. If they opened up a bit and shared more information and maybe allowed for YouTube videos about their products and how to work them, it would benefit the users quite a bit.""The availability and the speed of the firmware updates are the only things wrong with Huawei. There are some vulnerabilities on the hardware.""The technical support is a bit difficult to work with if you don't speak Mandarin.""The knowledge base needs to be improved and expanded."

"In the Israeli market, we are in need of Hebrew support.""I would like to see a cluster feature added, where multiple devices can be configured and managed as one. One is in a standby state while the other is active, and if one fails then the other takes over.""The biggest thing that needs improvement is the support.""The solution's website isn't that good. When I go to it, I can't find what I'm looking for. However, if I go to a third party's website, I can easily find the information.""The solution needs to improve its security firewalls and mirror that of, for example, Sophos, or FortiGate.""The manageability of the web-based UI needs to be improved.""It is slow, old and unfriendly.""The batch management could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The exact pricing varies based on how many units you purchase.""Huawei comes with a lot of features out of the box that you have to pay extra for with other products. They do charge extra in the licensing for certain additional features.""The price of Huawei ethernet switches is cheap.""The product is competitively priced in its market.""It's a reasonable price, cheaper than some other vendors.""The price is one of the only issues I have regarding this solution.""The switch came as part of a package bundle that includes internet service.""Compared to other brands, I think that the price is quite fair."

More Huawei Ethernet Switches Pricing and Cost Advice »

"In our last project, we used two hundred units and the price was approximately 500 Shekels ($140 USD).""There is no licensing fee in addition to the hardware, but we do pay an annual fee for support.""This product is cheaper than competing products by other vendors.""There are not any external or hidden costs.""The price-performance is great.""MikroTik is very cost-effective and quite good for the price. It performs very well. For one of our customers, the existing setup comprises Cisco Catalyst switches, and it is about 10 to 15 years old. We're looking into upgrading in a cost-effective way to get the performance and yet still be at par with the quality and expectations that customers have from Cisco. Price-wise, Cisco is really expensive, and customers are expecting something different than Cisco so that they can save on IT costs. They don't have the same budget that they had before when they installed Cisco products. That's why they're looking for a solution that can provide performance and features without too much money or investment. We're looking at some alternative brands, such as NETGEAR and MikroTik, to support our proposal.""The main reason we use this solution is for the price — it's very cheap.""Pricing is not an issue."
