Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"What I like about this solution, is that it is easy to configure.""The feature that I like most is the versatility.""It's in English, so its exceptional qualities make the control environment more flexible, easier, more stable, and easy to recover after issues.""The stability is the most valuable aspect of this solution. IBM is the most powerful and stable platform.""The most valuable feature is the flexibility in terms of managing the hardware resources such as RAM, CPU, and the network.""The case fileserver on the web server is the most valuable feature.""It's scalable. Whenever we buy another product other than hardware, it's easily integrated into the virtualization software that we download."

"It has solid performance and provides data locality.""It is a good solution and it is easy to work on their platform.""It consolidates our servers, and improves our electricity consumption and cooling as well.""The most valuable feature would be the ease of deployment. That is the most significant feature for me because I've worked with multiple vendors and it's always been very complicated to install the software and get everything running.""Best features are around data locality, compression, and deduplication.""The fact that there is only one interface to deploy a complete solution for maximum storage is fantastic.""I definitely find the reduced power consumption very valuable.""The most valuable features are its ease of use and its good performance."

Cons
"The program has very limited solutions for the virtualization of containers""Any improvements that can be made in the interface will go a long way to helping us work better.""I would like for IBM to be more focuses on the cloud.""To make it a ten, I would like for them to add automation and configuration tools in order to help use the manager.""The interface is not user-friendly in places, so it could use some improvement.""The performance should be improved.""If it could actually virtualize the entire platform it might be better. If you're having more than one virtualization technology, maybe there's a way to actually have less - one technology to run the data center and maybe one special virtualization for power. If it integrated with other platforms more effectively it might be better."

"I would like to see a fuller integration with the public cloud. It would help the user enter the hybrid cloud infrastructure.""As of now, Acropolis and VMware cannot talk to each other. Until we have some kind of interface, it would be much better for Nutanix if they built an interface which can talk. Otherwise, if I have a VMware stack and I already have a Nutanix stack, I create containers, I create clusters on VMware, I create clusters on Nutanix. All of these clusters cannot talk to each other. Then it has to be then subverted as a parallel execution. What happens then is that I have to work in two different environments within my data center. Practically, they are two different data centers but physically and logically, they are one. If they cannot talk to each other that creates a lot of issues. That is something which Nutanix has to develop because for Nutanix it is very simple. For example, Oracle is using a function called GoldenGate. They have a feature called GoldenGate which allows them to talk to various different environments which must really help.""If we can have certified compatibility with other companies, such as Oracle, then it would let us know that they function correctly together.""The GUI for this solution needs improvement.""If they can simplify the software slightly for the installation, that would make all the difference.""We could always use a performance upgrade, or simplified management.""They have offered some new features that I have not deployed so I assume that these issues might have been addressed already, but, at my time there was a networking problem.""One thing I've noticed is that, when you do a shift from VMware to Nutanix, it opens the setup of the VM that's currently running. If people from another site double click on it, it opens the VM instead of the setup of the unit. So I would suggest that this could perhaps be switched. That is so far the only change I would like. I would like it if they could fix the instance where you double click on a VM and it opens the VM instead of the setup. That's the only thing that's a major bother to me."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"The price varies from case to case and you have to negotiate it for every project."

More IBM PowerVM Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Their technical support is really good. They have been very helpful.""There are a lot of features included with Nutanix that cost a lot with other companies.""They should lower the price. If they did they would fall into a more competitive market because the price does scare a lot of potential customers away when they get the quote.""Pricing varies greatly between license and editions.""Our licensing fee on the total setup up was about R900 000.""I think it's cheaper than VMware in terms of cost.""AHV is free! This is a great feature that should be taken advantage of.""The licensing costs are a bit expensive but when you compare the features, it's reasonable."
