Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"This solution is very scalable.""Data deduplication is one feature I found to be the most valuable in the tool...Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The most valuable feature is how it simplifies the management of the SAN.""The most valuable feature is its speed.""What I like most about this solution, is the speed, resiliency and scalability.""The most valuable features are the replication of data and the continuous snapshot that we can take from the disc.""The initial setup was very straightforward and very quick. It was up and running in our data center within 24 hours of receiving it.""Most of the problems that we had in the past with the performance in IOPS have disappeared. It has been a great improvement for our customers' services."

"The most valuable aspect is the use of solid-state storage drives instead of spinning drives.""Built-in snapshot support gives us SAN-side functionality most other platforms would have had us license separately.""The ratio between the physical storage and the storage we use is very high.""The most valuable feature is definitely the always-on data deduplication.""The increased performance is many times above our previous array performance in all metrics. Integration with vSphere features is also a definite plus.""Data reduction and snapshot abilities: Smaller footprint in the datacenter (lower cost for power, cooling, etc.).""Inline compression""Scale out is a differentiator for them, especially in the enterprise market. It's key for a lot of customers."

More Kaminario K2 [EOL] Pros →

"We have been able to scale up to ten VM storages and 500 VMs through a single pane of glass.""Its speed has been absolutely fantastic.""It has easy setup, easy administration, and no LUNs!""It is great for finding problems where VMs are hogging all the performance.""Upgrades are super easy and can be done during business hours without interruptions in production.""Support from our vendor and Tintri are brilliant. They have always answered all of our questions promptly.""Web GUI for maintenance and resource monitoring purposes is easy to use.""You can control resources on a per VM basis to ensure that contention in resources does not hamper performance."

More Tintri VMstore Pros →

Cons
"The GUI could improve, it could be more intuitive. There is hidden functionality.""There's always an opportunity for new feature functionality.""I want to learn more about command line usage which I have not explored much yet. However, there are many automated solutions for repetitive tasks. I would like to see additional features like performance monitoring, configuring of alerts, and the customization of alert thresholds in the next release.""We do have an issue with the vCenter integration. Pure Storage says it has a lot of free space, but vCenter says its completely full. This is because their dedupes are saved as space, but Vcenter still detects the disk as completely full. So, we do have an issue with that.""The one major gripe I have is that there is no snapshotting enabled by default on the SAN.""I would like to see support for NVMe, end-to-end.""The problem is that we can only make a few groups, around five or six groups. I like groups and we need a lot of them. We had to put all the information in only a few groups and cannot make a more detailed separation of them.""The 3PAR SSD arrays that we have are still failing a lot so even though we're under warranty, we still have to get someone out and usually have someone troubleshoot so that usually adds onto the cost. With Pure, we've had a disc fail and we pop it out and you pop it in and it's good to go."

More Pure Storage FlashArray Cons →

"I would like to see them work with Cisco, so it comes off the FIs, instead of having to go through my 10-gig network.""Access to technical support should be improved for our region. Technical support is good, but they're very hard to access.""Improved scale and budget planning with flexibility of the solution for budget needs and efficiency for growth with the great optimization ratio due to the nature of our use.""A single pane of glass to monitor/manage multiple arrays would be helpful.""I think it should have better performance with small files. With big data, its performance is top notch, but it is difficult to load small files.""I'm hoping to see Active Directory integration. Right now, you still have to use a local admin account to log in and manage everything.""I would like to see LDAP for the management panel; I've been notified they might be currently working on it.""I would like them to improve the look of the product’s external casing and shelves."

More Kaminario K2 [EOL] Cons →

"The Tintri OS and GlobalCenter software do a great job of showing you troubled VMs, however it still could be a bit more helpful in diagnosing the issues.""The biggest area for improvement, and there has been some roadmap work in this area already, is cloud integration... Tintri has been investing in this area and I'm sure will continue to, but cloud integration has been the biggest area that we've been crossing our fingers and hoping for quick development around.""I would like to be able to add more storage capacity to our 2 units down the road with out buying an additional seprate array.""I would love more insight into each virtual machine statistic.""Active/active cluster between two Tintris on Hyper-V cluster.""I think with the world soon becoming only SSD, possibly NVMe, and 3D Xpoint. It would make sense for Tintri to drop the hybrid array down the line.""The Tintri Analytics site is excellent for long-term trending, but more data would be great.""Technical support is an area where we had several issues, and it was hard to get some support in a specific case we had. I'm not very satisfied with them."

    Overview

Pure Storage FlashArray is the world’s first enterprise-class storage array that runs exclusively on the nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) protocol for memory access and storage. It represents a totally state-of-the-art type of storage technology. It offers users shared accelerated storage that delivers cutting-edge features in the realms of performance, simplicity, and consolidation. Pure Storage is fresh and modern today and will be for the next decade. Without forklift upgrades or planned downtime, Pure Storage takes the work out of storage ownership and delivers unprecedented customer satisfaction.

Pure Storage FlashArray is built with simplicity and reliability in mind. The solution can be implemented and optimized in hours, as opposed to other similar solutions that can take days. It has no moving parts, which removes areas where it could potentially be vulnerable to suffering errors. It is highly stable and gives users the ability to manage system shutdowns in a way that  prevents data loss.

    Benefits of Pure Storage FlashArray

Some of the benefits of using Pure Storage FlashArray include:

    • A much higher level of speed than similar pieces of technology. Pure Storage FlashArray maximizes the speed at which data can be transferred while at the same time minimizing system latencies that might slow the transfer down. Additionally, it offers users quick memory read and data access speeds.

    • A higher bang for your buck in terms of the storage capabilities you get for the money you pay. They are smaller in size than more standard storage technologies, but they offer flash memory, which enables users to store larger amounts of data than the current standard.

    Reviews from Real Users

Pure Storage FlashArray is a highly effective piece of storage technology which stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its overall robustness and the value that it offers by way of its reliability and ease of use. It provides users with many valuable features that allow them to maximize what they can do with this solution. Pure Storage FlashArray’s reliability and ease of use make it a highly valuable solution.

PeerSpot user Prabakaran K., a technical consultant at Injazat Data Systems, notes the robustness of this solution when he writes, "FlashArray has many valuable features. It's very user-friendly and it has high availability, so there is comparatively less downtime. During maintenance, there is no shutdown procedure, so you can directly power off the Array and manage the shutdown process without any data loss, which is a unique feature. Managing replication and data migration is also very easy."

PeerSpot user Jason D., a cloud solutions architect at a tech services company, notes three features that make this solution valuable when he writes, "We've had different types of storage, and three things of this solution are valuable. The first one is its outstanding performance. The second one is its stability. In the about three years that we've had it, we've had component failures, but we never had a service interruption or any data loss. The third one, which is really critical, is that it is super easy to use in terms of provisioning, storage, and managing the arrays. I'm able to maintain a multi-site environment with a couple of dozen arrays with a single mid-level storage admin."

Kaminario K2 is the world’s only storage solution that delivers the predictability needed to handle the highly unpredictable world of modern businesses. This highly flexible all flash storage platform allows customers to cost-effectively scale capacity and performance to support their ever-changing business –seamlessly, on-demand and with no disruptions.
