Increases reliability, flexibility, availability and reduces administrative time

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use of this solution is to host business-critical applications in the cloud for customers.

Pros and Cons

  • "We get storage access without the need for more human monitoring of those resources."
  • "The large hardware components may be difficult to fit into some standard racks."

What other advice do I have?

On a scale of one to ten, I would say this product is a nine. I think it does what it promises and support is decent. The only drawback I find is the size of the components. They never told us that the hardware has a large form factor and we were barely able to squeeze it into our older racks. Storage is a critical piece of our business and, with a small team like the one that we have, Nimble ends up being a pretty good system that fits our need while lowering administrative needs. For anyone considering this solution seriously, I would suggest you do your research with other competitors out…

Enables us to have have a multitude of environments without having to worry about having spaces deployed

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for NAS and SAN.

Pros and Cons

  • "Multi-protocol is the most valuable feature for us. It does everything in one system: sifts, EBES, ISCSI, and fiber channel. Other systems don't do all that."
  • "The procurement process could be improved. It takes a long time for us to receive stuff. The product is good. It's not the product, it's just that it takes forever to get it. It's not our reseller's problem; it's usually held up at NetApp."

What other advice do I have?

I think it fits a multitude of needs. For someone who doesn't know how to provision storage, it gives you, SIPS and NAS storage. NAS storage gives you a SAN protocol so you can provision ISCSI fiber channel one, depending on what you're using it for. It's basically an all-in-one solution. It does everything for you. I would rate this solution as nine out of ten. There have been a few times we've seen buggy releases on some of the ONTAP software upgrades. Nine is good, though. I never get a ten when we get our reviews. If you get a ten, there's no room for improvement. Nine gives you room to…

Plug-and-play; the ease of use and proactive tech support are key for us

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for VM storage in a private cloud model. The main motivations we had to run VMware on Pure were the simplicity and cost. We're using the M70 R2.

Pros and Cons

  • "We also use VMware integrations developed by Pure, their plugins in our vCenter environment. They help by allowing our non-technical operations teams to deploy new data stores and resize data stores without me having to involve myself all the time to do those simple tasks."
  • "If they could make it cheaper, that would be something."

What other advice do I have?

Like I tell everybody else that I deal with, if you want to focus your time on doing more valuable things for your company, and you deal with storage on a day-to-day basis like I do, the best thing you can do is put Pure in your environment. It really is set-it-and-forget-it. I've come from the days of VMAXs where you're sitting there tweaking and turning knobs all the time to try to make sure that your storage environment is tip-top. With this, you literally plug it in, connect it and serve it, and then it does everything else itself. I get to focus my time on doing other things that are more…
