Fabulous range of features not available elsewhere
Pros and Cons
  • "Has some great features not available elsewhere."
  • "The solution lacks DLP."

What is our primary use case?

We are users of this solution and I'm a system administrator and lead manager of the Kaspersky EDR solution in my company.

What is most valuable?

In my opinion Kaspersky is the best product on the market. It's very easy to handle, user-friendly and they provide a lot of features that are difficult to find in other endpoint solutions.  Kaspersky provides great features and endpoint protection.

What needs improvement?

The only problem we have with the solution is that DLP is not a part of it. It's particularly relevant for those working in financial markets, especially in Pakistan where it's deployed in banks. DLP would make EDR a complete package. The lack of DLP is the main reason that our company is moving away from Kaspersky EDR.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable and I haven't faced any issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable. We have approximately 300 users in the company.

How are customer service and support?

We've had many interactions with technical support. We use the online Kaspersky company portal to raise tickets, and the staff are very knowledgeable technically and very professional. In so many ways, and so many queries I was in coordination with them directly. The email support is also very good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very simple and there were no issues with deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Kaspersky offers a very budget-friendly licensing model that is a complete package and is suitable for small, medium or enterprise organizations. McAfee, for example, has a much more costly license.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I've looked at other solutions including McAfee and most offer the same level of endpoint protection. Kaspersky provides additional features that other products don't have.

What other advice do I have?

I'm very satisfied with this product overall and I rate it 10 out of 10.

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution for users, servers, and services that we have implemented in our company.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the reports.

There are no issues with this solution. However, we would like to have better strategic information. We currently have tactical, and it's hard to make strategic decisions based on what it delivers.

In addition, we have about 600 users using this solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for over four years. It is deployed on-premises.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the technical support a six out of ten because the support depends on the type of contract we have. We have a special contract, so we just need to submit a case and get a response within 24 hours.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our licensing costs are annual.

What other advice do I have?

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementation process is easy and very straightforward. It's not overly complex. It only takes one to two days to handle the complete deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm not sure about how the licensing works. It may be per user. I'm not certain.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not sure which version of the solution we're using. I don't have that information.

I'm not directly using this Kaspersky solution. The other team is managing the solution, and that's why I don't have much personal experience. I do not manage it directly.

I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies.

I'd rate the product seven out of ten.

Their products are generally effective in guessing attacks or thwarting different types of unknown malicious techniques
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Kaspersky EDR is its simplicity. The console is easy to use and not very complex."
  • "Kaspersky EDR currently has limited OS support. They only focus on Windows Server and Windows. Kaspersky recently released a Linux version, but it's rudimentary. It does not have any advanced features available on Windows platforms. They should increase their footprint on the Linux side and support other operating systems on the market, like MacOS."

What is our primary use case?

Kaspersky EDR is a targeted solution that collects telemetry and forensics data as well as end-to-end IoCs. It does not use any signatures.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Kaspersky EDR is its simplicity. The console is easy to use and not very complex.

What needs improvement?

Kaspersky EDR currently has limited OS support. They only focus on Windows Server and Windows. Kaspersky recently released a Linux version, but it's rudimentary. It does not have any advanced features available on Windows platforms. They should increase their footprint on the Linux side and support other operating systems on the market, like MacOS.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky EDR for about four or five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Performance is one area where Kaspersky has room for improvement. The solution must be fast when it's acquiring telemetry data because the attack surface is unforgiving. The solution must be extremely fast with a high response time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Kaspersky is scalable, but it lacks built-in high availability and disaster recovery. Currently, you need a third-party solution to provide high availability.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Kaspersky support eight out of 10. We have never had any serious issues with their support. They take some time to respond, but they always provide the best solution.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Kaspersky isn't straightforward, but their guide is good. The documentation is fairly well-defined, so we just need to follow that. At the same time, it isn't easy because sometimes there are errors. I rate Kaspersky EDR six out of 10 for ease of installation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The license is competitive. Pricing is another Kaspersky advantage.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

There is a lot of competition in the EDR category. As resellers in the industry for so long, we're aware of the various products to choose from. Kaspersky's strong point is detection. They have a huge threat intelligence and R&D team. Their threat detection is among the industry's best. Their products are generally effective in guessing attacks or detecting different types of unknown malicious techniques.  They also have a great sandbox with their EDR solution.

Their weakness is performance, but detection is one of the best in the industry, if not the best. Kaspersky is always at the top of any third-party analysis of EDR products.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response eight out of 10.

We have a three-year license. It was initially very reasonably priced but we are based in Pakistan and we are not doing well against the dollar so the price has increased significantly.

What other advice do I have?

I've recommended this solution to many colleagues. I think Kaspersky is a reliable and stable solution.

I rate this solution nine out of 10.
