What is our primary use case?

I am a project manager and have been working on projects for UiPath with some of their clients. I was using the most recent version with our internal developers. The project was managed using Azure DevOps.

The teams I worked with would average between four and seven team members. It requires a couple of developers, a BA, a project manager and a scrum master.

UiPath is used for a variety of purposes such as, invoicing, automating, scanning documents, data collection, and data driven type of applications. There are more than one use case depending on what the client was trying to accomplish through automation. They were automating repetitive steps. We had commercial uses, government uses, financial services and investing uses. 

What is most valuable?

The features of UiPath that I find most valuable was working with Abbyy scanning. We created some unique ways to work around any document that couldn't be scanned. It was very flexible. Whatever bug that was produced during use test cases, user acceptance testing, was very flexible. We did not find anything that could not be fixed. There was always a workaround or a way to create another process that could be automated.

Flexibility and the adaptability are very good with UiPath.

UiPath is always upgrading and fixing their product.

What needs improvement?

For me, the only improvement needed is how to manage the actual project. This does not have anything to do with the solution itself, it's about managing customer's expectations.

UiPath could improve on how it works with the project management process and flow. 

I would like to see UiPath add an RPA that handles project management. I would  like to see the solution do as much as possible. There are so many turning wheels on a project that is complex.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution itself is stable. The challenging part is the developers themselves. It's still a new industry. People are still learning and sometimes people miss things.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are no problems with the solution scaling.

How are customer service and support?

UiPath's technical support is very responsive. The customer service desk is really good. I was impressed with how fast and capable they were.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup depends on the project. The deployment goes from simple to complex. I have taken a few courses, so the setup is very easy.

We require a couple of people for deployment  and maintenance of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is affordable. It depends on if you are looking for some capabilities from time to time. 

What other advice do I have?

My advice to anyone looking to implement UiPath in their organization would be to really take a look at what processes do the organization have that are highly repetitive and manual and  provide value. 

This application is best for high value projects or high value initiatives. Automating something that doesn't matter is not worth it. Take a really hard look at the ROI of what you want to automate and see if it  makes sense, and focus on  the ones that generate the most ROI and value. 

UiPath will handle the rest and do a very good job.

I would rate UiPath a 10 out of 10. Where the industry is at right  now, there is plenty of growth. Everyone is trying to better, but where we are at right now, UiPath is at the top. Having seen UiPath work on projects, the flexibility that it allows developers to fix bugs among other things, makes it a 10.

What is our primary use case?

We did some POCs and we did some implementations.

How has it helped my organization?

We used the solution for incident management with ServiceNow.

We were able to find a lot of bottlenecks and have been able to automate a few tasks with UiPath. We are looking for inefficiencies suitable for automation.

For example, we have some supply chain use cases and can automate some procurement tasks.

It's been a game changer for our organization. Having to remove manual processes has optimized areas. Slowly and gradually, there have been very marked improvements in processes overall.

What is most valuable?

The conformance capability is very good. We can find which processes are compliant or non-compliant.

We like the root cause analysis and we can use it to take a deep dive into the tasks.

The process explorer is quite useful in differentiation and looking at multiple variants. We can drill down with good granularity.

Benchmarking is very good. If I have processes for accounts receivable, I can set the benchmarks and look at the accounts and look at projections based on currency, country, et cetera.

It's great for streamlining processes. You must have an understanding of the domain, for example, if it is in the financial realm. If you do, it is easy. The solution can help you set up processes. You just need to come in with the right insights.

The end-to-end visibility of the process mining dashboard is quite good. There are not many areas that are not visible. We can see everything, and we can customize our KPIs as needed, which helps. It helps us build on a more granular level. If we have a good domain that has a nice process with frequent execution and lots of data created, we can visualize everything and find hidden issues to further refine our processes.

We can turn raw into actionable data. We only need the activity to start our work and analysis. It's very plug-and-play as well. Everything has its own connector. We can connect our tool to SAP or Oracle, et cetera. Data is not obstructed. It can be consumed by the tool or the application itself.

We're able to remove bottlenecks from all kinds of processes. If I have a high level of activity, I can easily automate it. I can send notifications or reminders so that bottlenecks fall away.

Its overall transparency has been great for our end-to-end processes. We can easily visualize everything both for the technical team and business users. We can customize dashboards, for example, for business users. Everyone can see their area easily and understand what is going on at all times.

The solution integrates well with other systems and applications. However, it does depend on the data and where I am grabbing the data. It integrates well with ServiceNow using an API. We can also transform the data.

It empowers employee decision-making. It helps them locate bottlenecks and remediate items. The automation can be done by the business user. They don't need a technical person to come in and make a fix. Everyone is working on streamlining the process.

It's helped free up staff time for other projects. Initially, it's been 15% to 20%. Over time, we're hoping it will be 40%.

It has reduced our total cost of ownership. I'm not sure of the exact number around that, however.

Using the solution with the finance and logistics domains. These are areas that could have a very good impact.

What needs improvement?

We still need to explore how to integrate the solution into various domains. It looks promising across the board.

We have used technical support on the data side. If we, for example, have a job that doesn't run in time, we'd reach out as required. We help our clients troubleshoot as needed as well.

I used Celonis for process mining based on the complexity or behavior of the use case. 

We've also previously used Excel as a way to manage processes. 

How was the initial setup?

I was involved in the deployment. It is a bit complex. 

The number of people required for the deployment varies, depending on the size. Typically, we need five to six people. 

The solution requires maintenance. We have two people that are maintaining it. 

What about the implementation team?

We provide implementation services to customers. We also work as consultants. 

What was our ROI?

We have definitely seen an ROI. There are multiple partners working in process mining. The competition is very high and it's helped a lot.

It took us about six months to achieve time to value.  

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is decent.

We did not look at other options before choosing this solution. 

What other advice do I have?

Streamlining processes with automation is cost-effective. However, it is not for those looking to achieve a short-term goal. This is a long-term play. If you invest some time with the tool, you'll receive a very good ROI. There's so much data, it takes a while to really see the value. 

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten. 

I'd advise new users to understand the process first. Do a lot of brainstorming and understand each and every aspect of the business. It will help with building out. I'd also advise doing a POC first to see if you are going down the right path or not.

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution as a POC in the automotive and financial industries. I use it as an RPA for process mining.

We did two POCs. The first was about repairing vehicles. The second was in a bank environment. That was related to having different branches being able to check customers.

What is most valuable?

So far, the solution has been effective in helping us automate and streamline. In the case of the financial POC, it helped with sharing and gathering documentation.

The process learning feature inside the wider suite is helpful. It helps with integrating and using, for example, AI features related to process mining. It helps customers expand their digital transformation journey.

The personal learning tools are good.

It's good as a tool to help streamline processes. In one of our POCs, we were able to illustrate to the client how easy the product was to work with. We obtained this goal.

End-to-end visibility is achieved through dashboards. They provide templates. You can personalize those templates and create dashboards with your own views to help maintain visibility. Other products do offer out-of-the-box views that are pretty standard.

UiPath can help remove bottlenecks in a wide range of processes. We can go in and analyze. UiPath can guide us during that process and help us observe issues in an easier way. It has a specific view where you can put features side by side for activity, duration, and frequency to see what can move faster.

The solution has task management capabilities. The product is inside a bigger suite that can do more things. There's task management, for example. There's, of course, process mining analysis. After that, there's the ability to build RPA. The bigger picture would be to have these three factions integrated. However, we've started with process mining. 

What needs improvement?

It's not very easy to turn raw data into actionable information. You have to prepare your data before uploading. In the pn-premises version, it would often take four hours to prepare a configuration for a single process. Today, you can do that faster. However, you have to create files with various templates - and you have to use specific formats. It all has to be extremely specific, right down to specific log names and column orders. It's a constraint.

The end-to-end visibility could be made more clear. I can't see a specific view frequency or activity frequency.

Performance checking could be improved. I'm not sure if this is due to the fact that they are gradually migrating old features from on-premises to the new cloud version. 

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using the cloud version of the solution four months ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've never noticed any stability issues. 

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I've never attempted to scale the solution. 

How are customer service and support?

I haven't really dealt with support other than to ask about alert modules or the availability of specific alerts. That said, general support was very quick to answer and clear in their response.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I'm also familiar with IBM Process Mining and that tool is easier to use from a technical perspective. It's easier to create processes and upload logs via the UI faster. 

How was the initial setup?

I'm not directly involved in the deployment process. I'm on the cloud version, I'm not sure if much maintenance is needed. 

What other advice do I have?

I haven't attempted to integrate the solution with other products just yet. I'm only using it and uploading it manually. I'm interested in integrating in the future. We're still in the POC phase. Generally speaking, one of its biggest advantages is the possibility of integration with features within the greater ecosystem.

The product overall is good. It has enough views for analyzing processes, yet there are still no distinctive capabilities or features to pay attention to. That's just in relation to my own personal processes at this time. 

In the end, streamlining processes with automation will be cost-effective. A big part of our work is to help the client understand the processes and to show them, if they are working in the wrong way, how they can fix it and save money. By improving processes, customers ultimately will cut costs. You have to sync and streamline before you throw money in.

I'd advise people to be careful about the input of data. Sometimes, specific forms or structures are needed.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

UiPath Process Mining needs system development and capabilities for designers. UiPath Process Mining is not easy for everyday users. UiPath Process Mining requires system development skills which means you still need special development training for all the developers. This will make it easier to use out of the box.

I have been using UiPath Process Mining for about a year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath Process Mining stability depends on the design. For example, handling and expecting user behavior that is robust. Robust systems we can develop, but in some cases, there can be unexpected behavior or time out because of the size of files. Overall there are no problems with stability for me.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

You need to start from a small, interesting group, then scale up involving the top management individuals to help them understand. I think starting small is better for the RPA.

I think the desktop version limited can be scalable in the future, maybe going to the cloud would make it easy. it's more reasonable instead of the hundred, two hundred desktop version RP. Maybe change in the next upgrade to the cloud-native version of the RP.

How are customer service and support?

In most cases, we use our internal developer experience.

How was the initial setup?

UiPath Process Mining starting from the PD comprehensive case is complicated. There is not so much benefit for the RPA solutions. UiPath Process Mining should be simple and straightforward. 

What was our ROI?

From the task reduction point of view, I think a lot like maybe 0.3 year or less, we can get the returns, but actually, task reduction and reduction are different. We see cost savings from task reduction. The PL actual headcount reduction is a different issue.

What other advice do I have?

 I would rate UiPath Process Mining a nine out of ten.

What is our primary use case?

We have deployed UiPath Process Mining mostly in banking systems. There are a lot of banks that we work with that do reconciliation, invoicing processes, and loan applications. We use UiPath Process Minings to automate in these areas.

We use UiPath Process Mining in many areas of our organization, such as our back office, HR, and payroll teams. 

In India, the banks forbid the use of cloud solutions.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of UiPath Process Mining are the ease of use, it's provided us with good indicators of which processes can be automated. There are lots of non-value-add activities which are being done that have helped us identify. If we apply lead principles we are receiving a lot of benefits without automating. You are actually getting a lot of benefits even without automating.

We have automated 50 percent of our known processes which is good.

What needs improvement?

UiPath Process Mining could improve by limiting the number of updates.

I have been using UiPath Process Mining for approximately two years.

What is our primary use case?

Here are two use cases: one involves a customer with an insurance domain. They had multiple underwriting claims, loss prevention, members, or teams, and they were doing manual filing of the documents or correspondence. We automated the document filing system using UiPath. We had users send the documents to a particular email box with a particular subject line. Then, we had the UiPath robot automatically read those email subject lines and automatically file into SharePoint online.

The second use case involves creating new policies in an underwriting system or renewing the older policies in the system automatically. The robot will read the Excel file in a particular structure and will create new policies or renew the existing policies in the underwriting system automatically, building on certain key business rules. The successes or exceptions will be reported to the business.

How has it helped my organization?

By automating the document filing system for our customer with an insurance domain, we were able to save them eight to nine years of individual-person-effort with regard to filing. We have saved them almost 1800- to 2000-person days of work.

Also, there was a team that used to key in the data for delegated underwriting authorities to create the policies or renew the policies. However, with the success rate we have achieved with UiPath, we have been able to bring down those efforts as well so that our customer can utilize that team in other valuable activities.

What is most valuable?

UiPath has a low code or development.

Also, the Orchestrator module is very effective because it allows me to schedule the jobs in a particular manner without interrupting any processes so that it can automatically handle it.

The UiPath libraries or classes in which the flows are maintained are very effective. UiPath has a very meaningful or powerful parameter-driven approach such as the flows approach. So, you can customize the flows as required, and you can use that for further business processes as well.

A rich use of libraries and reusable assets can be created in UiPath, which is quite significant.

What needs improvement?

One key aspect is how UiPath in itself can provide certain views of where an exception has occurred. If UiPath can identify where it has gone wrong and try to identify the bottleneck value, which are more machine learning in AI, it would be great.

If they can strengthen that core area as well as in the business processes side, not as a separate module but within the current RPM module itself, it will be really helpful. If they can bring AI and ML algorithms within it, it will be great.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with UiPath Process Mining for almost three years.

We have a hybrid cloud process.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

If you have implemented it correctly with detailed requirements, refinement, and correct processes and standards, then it will be very stable.

Our processes are running for the last few years in a very stable manner without any major concerns or failures in production. This has increased our credibility with our customers as well regarding the stability of UiPath Process Mining.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath Process Mining is scalable, but it is key that you identify the right use cases to implement STEM. If you have to convert a lot of complex manual interventions into an automated process, then things may be really difficult to scale. However, if you have a process that is very rule-driven, then it would be quite scalable. So, the scalability depends on the complexity of the business process.

How are customer service and support?

We received adequate support, but sometimes the turn around time to get into a particular root cause was high. So, I would rate technical support at eight out of ten on a scale from one to ten.

How was the initial setup?

Deployment is very quick in the case of RPA, and it takes less than five minutes. It's very effective.

We have certain standardized checklists, guidelines, and best practices, which we recommend all the team members go through at the start of the project. They follow STEM. Similarly, we take care of STEM during deployment checklists and then book preparation as well, so that the deployments are quite quick and easy for the release management team.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it through an in-house team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a standard licensing fee, which is charged for the products, but it is very module-driven and depends on your utilization or your team size. Compared to that of other providers, the cost is average or below average. So, from a pricing perspective, it's not very high.

For example, let's say you are developing a new process that has to be a fully automated process without any manual intervention. You will then need to buy a robot, a studio, which you have to use for development, and an Orchestrator to deploy that bot. You will also need one non-production license for your test environment.

So, there will be three to four different products that you have to plug together and buy as a package, but each will have its own individual licensing cost. When you have to scale, you can scale as many licenses as you need to for development and for running the bots in production.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Blue Prism and Automation Anywhere.

What other advice do I have?

There are two key things: one is to collaborate with the right UiPath partner. The second is to identify the right toolkit that will help you to get the ROI, especially when you want quick benefits or want to build confidence with the business.

I recommend that you have all use cases backlogged and then discuss these items with the stakeholders, business process owners, and business stakeholders. Then, get everything vetted by an implementation partner. Also, discuss with UiPath if required and then implement the processes.

On a scale from one to ten, I would rate UiPath Process Mining at nine.

What is our primary use case?

At my company, we use UiPath for almost everything, and not just process mining, which is what we call the discovery part of what we do. Our main use of UiPath Process Mining is as a tool within the field of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) that helps us with automating processes for our customers, where we will often also use UiPath Studio.

A major example of the work we do with UiPath includes automating management information systems for reporting purposes. So if we have to make a few reports, we will go with UiPath to create them. We have also used it for reconciliation, or what we used to call reconciliation until more recently. That is reconciliation between two banks, for instance. We also use UiPath for claims processing, LC (Letter of Credit) issuance, and more.

To date, our services company has automated over 200 processes for our customers using UiPath, all of which has been done by a team that spans over 65 professionals.

What is most valuable?

For us, the most important feature of UiPath Process Mining is something called Document Understanding. We have found it to be extremely valuable, given that the current situation we have right now is that it's not just pure automation of manual and repetitive tasks. What we're doing is more along the lines of what you could call "intelligent" automation. Document Understanding plays a great role in this type of process automation because it helps us in automating the reading of documents better and, therefore, helps to automate intelligence for our customers.

UiPath also has a certain dashboard called Insights that comes as a package where you can have analytics about how well the processes have performed. For example, if an automated process that runs at night stops midway for some reason, you can check the analytics to see why it stopped. It's a very beautiful analytics dashboard, too.

What needs improvement?

Document Understanding can read up to a certain amount of accuracy. While I understand that they have already started working to improve that accuracy right now, I think the accuracy is still only around 85-90%. I would call that our main problem with UiPath currently.

Then, in terms of process mining as a procedure, it only helps in terms of whatever processes have already been digitized. In this sense, what we find lacking is that at times when the file is a photograph, let's say a JPEG file, then because of its file type, UiPath's Document Understanding does not read it.

So we'll have a situation where people scan their documents in (or take a photo of the document) and send them across in an image file and not something like PDF, and in that case Document Understanding isn't very helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using UiPath for the last four and a half years now. 

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is extremely stable. The processes which we automated a few years back are still running pretty well. As long as the processes do not change, it continues running the way it is.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. This is one of the aspects which lots of our type of customers look at. When people choose between various automation tools, they always look at the scalability part of it, and UiPath can be scaled up very quickly, especially when it comes to how many bots you can have and how many processes can be performed inside a single bot.

As for staff, we have 65 people working with it right now because we are a service provider. When we get additional customers, we need to have enough people who can start work with those customers right away. For example, we have a pretty big order right now from the Middle East, and we will require about 10-12 people who need to get started on this job. So we simply hired them and scaled up to match the demand.

Even though we have had opportunities to go along with Automation Anywhere and others, we have stuck with UiPath for the last four and a half years because of how easy it is to scale and implement. Because of this, I foresee that we will be with this product for the next several years at least.

How are customer service and support?

They have a 24/7 support service. And if I have a problem in implementing a particular solution, or I have a question which I need answered while I'm automating some processes, they usually reply within one to two hours. If it is extremely complex, I have seen them set up meetings to see how the solution is being automated and they will then provide solutions for it.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was exceptionally straightforward. UiPath can be set up in barely two or three days, and we do it for our customers often. The deployment also includes Orchestrator. Orchestrator is the most complex of all, and it can be done in approximately three to four days' time.

What was our ROI?

One of the reasons why we chose UiPath is because it is a very stable tool and asset. So the main part of our promise to customers is the return on investment. Of course, you can only get return on investment with a tool like UiPath when you have proper processes. Both the tool and the appropriate processes are essential ingredients to get return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our licensing for UiPath Process Mining, and the various tools such as Studio Orchestrator, is all paid for on an annual basis.

However, with the Document Understanding feature, the licensing is per page. So if we're going to read some 20,000-30,000 pages, that becomes one separate licensing stack.

What other advice do I have?

I can definitely vouch for the product. It's extremely good and the R&D is very well done. Their product strategy is also very much on-point, as they keep improving the product year after year. For instance, when we started with it in 2017, UiPath was only able to do most things manually, but now they've got into artificial intelligence and machine learning and their product is able to read and do things that are completely changing process automation.

I would rate UiPath Process Mining a seven out of ten.
