For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for approximately three years. The solution is deployed on-premises.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable, and we have not experienced any issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is said to be scalable, but we haven't gotten the solution to a point where we can scale it per the requirement. So, I wouldn't know whether it's genuinely scalable yet. Currently, less than 20 people are using this solution in our organization.

How are customer service and support?

We have had a good experience with customer service and support because they are resourceful and helpful. I rate the support team eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Broadcom but switched because the license for this solution was more affordable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward. However, it took a few hours to deploy the solution.

What about the implementation team?

Implementation was done in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I cannot comment on pricing and licensing as I don't have access to that information.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I am unsure if other options were evaluated.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. The solution is good but can be improved by including validation exports for XPath. I recommend this solution to people considering it.

User friendly, very stable and light on consumption ,with a competitive price
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the user-friendly system and development of the service-oriented architecture."
  • "I would like to see them bring back a feature, from earlier versions, that was very useful in debugging and finding issues."

What is most valuable?

I like the user-friendly system and development of the service-oriented architecture. The minimum hardware and installation requirements are great.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see the clustering feature written with a proper connection to WSO2 Enterprise Integrator servers. If a tool was available for developing some special interfaces and this tool could be through a wizard on the web interface itself, that would be helpful. I would like to see them bring back a feature, from early versions, that was very useful in debugging and finding issues.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using WSO2 Enterprise Integrator for the past four years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have made several initial tests on it and we have never had an issue with the stability of the system. It is very stable and light on consumption in terms of memory and CPU.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is not strong. If you want to scale it you have to install multiple servers.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support provides proper support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The setup was straightforward and simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

WSO2 Enterprise Integrator may cost you about twenty-five thousand dollars annually per year compared to IBM Cloud Pak, which would cost you around one million dollars.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did compare it to other solutions. There is a big difference when you look at IBM Cloud Pak. Ease of use, maintenance, and cost are better with WSO2 Enterprise Integrator.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate WSO2 Enterprise Integrator an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to set up, open-source, and works well with legacy systems
Pros and Cons
  • "It was mostly easy to set up the product."
  • "The integration capabilities need to be improved."

What is our primary use case?

I was using the solution for integration purposes.

What is most valuable?

It was mostly easy to set up the product.

We liked that the product was offered as an open-source solution.

It can likely scale well.

The solution is stable.

It's generally easy to use and works well with legacy systems.

What needs improvement?

The integration capabilities need to be improved. We hope to see better integration in the future.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. We found the product to be free of bugs or glitches. It did not crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not sure how many people ultimately used the solution in our organization.

I'm not familiar with how scalable the product would be. I did not attempt to scale the product. However, it likely can scale a bit.

How are customer service and support?

I never had to reach out to technical support. I do not know how helpful or responsive they would be.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different product.

How was the initial setup?

We found it difficult to handle integration. Other than that, it was easy. It only takes a few minutes to set up. It's very quick.

We did not have to worry about maintenance while we used it.

What about the implementation team?

We did not need any assistance with the setup process. We handled the setup ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is open-source and free to use.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options from different vendors.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not sure which version of the solution we're using.

I'd recommend the product to others. It was issue free while I used it.

If you have a legacy system, you can use this product. It is really, really easy.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten overall.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Reliable and offered an open-source option but support was never that helpful
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution basically conforms to our standards."
  • "One of the reasons that we are looking for a replacement is their way of defining integration. The language of the XML structures that I use to describe the integrations are not that standard, and it's not easy to find people who are familiar with this approach."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution to access external services or expose our internal services to outside entities.

What is most valuable?

The solution basically conforms to our standards.

It used to be or was available as open source. I'm not sure about this right now.

It is a stable product.

My understanding is the solution can scale.

What needs improvement?

I don't know the whole history since I'm relatively new to the organization; however, the product that we use needs to be supported effectively. And for some time, we had paid for support, and yet we are not satisfied with the quality of service. Therefore, we just stopped using the service and the support, and now the product is being retired, as I understand.

One of the reasons that we are looking for a replacement is their way of defining integration. The language of the XML structures that I use to describe the integrations are not that standard, and it's not easy to find people who are familiar with this approach. Standardization of the programming on the configuration language would be an advantage.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for over five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We haven't had issues with stability in any way. There haven't been bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution has served our purposes, and we've never had issues in terms of scale. Therefore, I would assume scaling is fine.

How are customer service and support?

We've found support, which we need to pay for, was generally lacking in the level of service we expected. It's a major contributor to why we are moving away from the product.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are currently looking for a replacement for WSO2.

How was the initial setup?

I was not present at the company when it was implemented. I can't speak to how easy or difficult the process was.

Maintenace can be an issue sometimes as the support hasn't been great. With a lack of external support, we can run into issues.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm not aware of the exact pricing. That was not in my scope of work.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the most current update of the product.

I'd advise new users to evaluate the features of the product versus the requirements and to make sure that this is a good fit before committing to the product.

I'd rate the solution five out of ten, basically in the middle. I wasn't involved with the tool from the very beginning, and now we are moving away from it. I may not be the best source of information on the intricacies of the product itself.

Customizable, with good pricing and a good interface
Pros and Cons
  • "The installation process is easy."
  • "The customization can be a bit difficult."

What is our primary use case?

We basically use the solution for the connectors. There are some legacy platforms and the WSO2 provides a good amount of connectors. I'm able to integrate this quickly with those third-party platforms. There are some big mediations that are also required.

What is most valuable?

The link tool is good.

There is a good GUI tool where you can define all your requirements. It is very easy to use.

We are still exploring the entire solution. There are so many solutions, ESB solutions, and we are still learning.

The interface is very good.

The dashboard is excellent.

The reporting of the solution is very good.

The installation process is easy.

The pricing is okay.

We've found the technical support to be good so far.

The solution can scale well.

What needs improvement?

I will need some time to reflect on improvements as we are still exploring the product. Maybe in another two or three months, I'd have more insights.

The customization can be a bit difficult.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've only been using the solution for a month. It hasn't been that long just yet.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is very good. there are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze from what I have seen so far. It's reliable and the performance has been good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. It's possible to expand it if you need to.

How are customer service and technical support?

We haven't had any issues with the technical support. They seem to be helpful and responsive. We're satisfied with the level of service we are provided so far.

How was the initial setup?

On this solution, the installation is easy, however, customization, mostly due to the fact that there will be a good amount of customization and mediations, requires expertise. If the people who are implementing the solution have the right set of expertise they will be able to do it. If a novice user is attempting an implementation, they will need some training first.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is an open-source version, however, we have a subscription. Direct technical support is available when you are on a subscription plan. In the open-source version, you have community-level support where you will get support from the community.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We've also, as per the customer requirement, looked at Mule. We are comparing these two solutions together.

What other advice do I have?

We are a partner with the company.

We always use on-premises deployments as we only work with on-prem.

While I am still exploring the solution, I've so far been pretty satisfied with it. I'd rate it at a nine out of ten so far.

From my experience so far, I would recommend the solution to other users and companies. It's very customizable and the support is there if you need help. Of course, we are still in the design phase, and it is still early.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Stable and reliable solution with straightforward setup; great tech support provided

What is our primary use case?

We are using it for our enterprise customers.

What is most valuable?

The connectors feature has been the most valuable for us. The built-in connectors help with quick connectivity to the platforms. We are using this for both our banking and insurance clients.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see easier customizations in the new WSO2 Enterprise Integrator versions. Most of the issues we run into with the WSO2 Enterprise Integrator deal with customizations.

Another problem that we run into is that our clients, which are mostly in government, do not want to put analytics on the cloud. So, I would like to see an on-premise analytics solution. In the last town hall call, they said they plan on introducing it in the future.

The analytics has to be part of this or otherwise we will have to use an ELK or something similar.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using WSO2 Enterprise Integrator for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

WSO2 Enterprise Integrator is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

WSO2 Enterprise Integrator is a scalable product.

How are customer service and support?

They have a support portal where we can log a ticket and get good support from them. We get it directly from the OEM. It's a real good one.

Whenever we log a ticket, their team comes over or calls and analyzes the problem jointly with us. They provide good support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward. WSO2 Enterprise Integrator is not a complex piece of software. It's simple to handle and easy to manage.

We can deploy it in a day's time. We have done major deployments, so it doesn't take much time for us.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is reasonable, it's not costly. I think it's open source.

What other advice do I have?

Future users should keep in mind that they will need at least a little bit of guidance from an API manager. It is not likely that they will be able to just install and handle it directly. They will need some bit of guidance and support.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Good integration between systems and strong stability
Pros and Cons
  • "The stability is excellent."
  • "There are a lot of security settings that when you apply you have to re-apply again every time you modify a setting. It is something that really needs to be enhanced."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for integration between core banking and other systems.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution provides a way to communicate with unknown software with standard flexibility. Normally, we did not have good service integration with multiple systems and it provided this functionality, which is good.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect of the solution is the integration between core banking and other systems.

What needs improvement?

There are a lot of security settings that when you apply you have to re-apply again every time you modify a setting. It is something that really needs to be enhanced.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is excellent.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I wasn't able to check the scalability or test it very well previously, but I just tried it for about 1,000 transactions per minute, for testing, that it runs smoothly with no issue. We typically have a lower amount of transactions than that. Its use is not extensive.

How are customer service and technical support?

We haven't used technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't previously use another solution. I was on the search for an open-source solution in order to have the ability to change or amend settings.

How was the initial setup?

The latest version remains very complex, although it's going to wizard. The information is very easy for handling the integration. The initial version we used had some complications but it's handled now. The deployment didn't take more than an hour. We only needed two people to implement the solution - an admin and a developer. For maintenance, we only need the admin.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the implementation ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

We don't use the cloud version; we have our own servers.

I would rate this solution eight out of ten.
