With good integration and collaboration capabilities, the tool also provides scalability
Pros and Cons
  • "We didn't face any problems with the product's scalability. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
  • "It takes me time to adapt to the new improvements in the product, and they don't add too much value for me. I would prefer Microsoft Teams to reduce their frequent updates."

What is our primary use case?

In my organization, we use Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for collaboration purposes. Microsoft Teams is the best collaboration platform since everything is integrated with the product. Most of the users of Microsoft in our organization are familiar with its technologies, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, making it easy for the end users to use SharePoint and Teams.

What is most valuable?

SharePoint is not really good for us. Microsoft Teams is integrated with email, and we are also using a team for collaboration because we work in a university where we have to collaborate with the students, making it an okay solution for us.

What needs improvement?

The room for improvement needed in Microsoft Teams depends on what you are looking for and your uses of the product.

Honestly, I would like not to see any improvements because all these improvements normally I don't use. It takes me only time to adapt to the new improvements in the product, and they don't add too much value for me. I would prefer Microsoft Teams to reduce their frequent updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have experience with Microsoft Teams. I work at the university, and we are just a consultant for some companies.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product's stability is decent. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. I don't have any complaints about its stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We didn't face any problems with the product's scalability. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

In our workplace, we have 250 employees and 3,000 students who use Microsoft Teams.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously had our own solution, but we had a problem with the staff and other people in general, and eventually, it became too expensive for us. It was hard for us to find a system engineer or integrator. We decided to move to the cloud because it was impossible for us to manage such a relatively huge system considering that every year, we had about 600 to 700 students coming in, for whom we had to do the integration processes.

How was the initial setup?

The setup phase of Microsoft Teams was easy.

The setup phase was completed in a couple of minutes because we have a good infrastructure, so we had no problem integrating the product with other solutions.

I am not involved in the deployment since it is covered under the services we get from Microsoft.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

I can't speak on the steps involved in the deployment process since my company gets an expert from outside to do the deployment and integration for us.

We have two people, including one developer and one system administrator, for the deployment and maintenance of the solution. We don't really have any problems with the deployment and maintenance because everything is on the cloud.

What about the implementation team?

Our organization used Microsoft's services in the cloud for deployment purposes since it is much cheaper and easier for us than to have our own infrastructure for deployment. In short, we didn't do the deployment in-house.

What was our ROI?

For my organization, we are okay with the ROI that the product provides.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The government takes care of the licenses with Microsoft and all the other legal stuff since we are a state university. The prices are much lower when the government negotiates with Microsoft rather than when we do it ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

I would definitely recommend the solution to those planning to use it.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Simple to use, priced well, but integration could improve
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is that it is easy to use."
  • "Microsoft Teams could improve the integration with Outlook because most of us are not using the last version of Outlook and it causes some issues."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for training and meetings.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is that it is easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams could improve the integration with Outlook because most of us are not using the last version of Outlook and it causes some issues.

In the next release of Microsoft Teams, they should make the mobile application easier to manage. Additionally, they should add more features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a stable solution. However, we have to turn it off and reconnect sometimes.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a scalable solution. We have more than 600 users using this solution, from all levels in my organization. We have no problem with all our users using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

I have not contacted the support from Microsoft. We have our own internal support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used other solutions, such as Bridge and an internal application. Microsoft Teams is the easiest to use.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation of Microsoft Teams is easy on the laptop but sometimes we are facing some difficulties with the phone.

I rate the initial setup of Microsoft Teams a three out of five.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams is priced less than other solutions, such as Bridge.

I rate the price of Microsoft Teams a four out of five.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Microsoft Teams a seven out of ten.

Has a team sharing feature for remote access and document collaboration during calls and meetings
Pros and Cons
  • "Team sharing is really cool. It's great to have remote access, document sharing, and collaboration during calls and meetings."
  • "In future releases, short voice messages would be useful."

What is our primary use case?

I use it for meeting prospects, current calls, and also for some apps like workflow and notes. It has been quite useful, and I find the tools and functionalities great.

What is most valuable?

Team sharing is really cool. It's great to have remote access, document sharing, and collaboration during calls and meetings. These features are excellent, and I haven't found them in other tools.

What needs improvement?

In future releases, short voice messages would be useful. Sometimes, when people are in other meetings, it would be great to leave a voice message if they're not reachable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for the past four years. We use the latest version because it generally gets updated through backend policies.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. I would rate the stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are around 500 to 600 users in my organization using this solution.

What about the implementation team?

The setup is usually done by the IT people in the organization. As an end user, we just start using the features and the product.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My advice is that Microsoft Teams is not just a tool for meetings. It offers additional features and add-on apps like WebBooks, Azure, task planner, and more. Updates are regularly provided, and you can even use Excel tools on the go.

Overall, I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. If a tool provides everything I need without any issues, then it deserves the highest score. That's why I'm giving it a nine.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used Google Meet, Skype (the older version), and WebEx for meetings and webinars. But Microsoft Teams is quite advanced and has a lot of features.

If I compare it with Google Meet, Google Meet doesn't offer remote sessions. That is the main disadvantage compared to Google Meet.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

A reliable communication and collaboration platform with remote control tools
Pros and Cons
  • "Everything is valuable, such as the chats, the calls, and the file sharing."
  • "The remote control needs some improvement."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case of Microsoft Teams is for internal and external communication. We also use it for chatting, team calls, screen sharing and remote control.

What is most valuable?

Everything is valuable, such as the chats, the calls, and the file sharing.

What needs improvement?

The remote control needs some improvement. I feel Zoom is much better than Teams, especially in remote controlling.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Mircosoft Teams for more than five years as an end user.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

As for the stability, I never faced an issue with Microsoft Teams. I might have faced an issue with Teams just once in my career, but I haven't seen any issues apart from that, I never saw any issue.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have never had issues with Mircosoft Teams. However, the IT guys handle the scalability. A lot of users in our organization use Microsoft Teams. More than 6,000 users use the solution in our organization.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is deployed on-premises for larger enterprises, but I think it is on the cloud as well.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is a bit more than moderately expensive. That's why the low-scale enterprises, not the mid-range, choose Slack and all these open-source tools.

What other advice do I have?

I am happy using Microsoft Teams and I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Great for internal communications, available on mobile and PC, and easy to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long."
  • "The desktop and mobile apps are quite different."

What is our primary use case?

Teams is mostly for internal purposes. We use it to communicate between our company with colleagues. Instead of sending emails all the time, we have Teams just to send documents or communicate for anything, even creating groups.

What is most valuable?

It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long.

You can either use it on your phone or on your PC.

You can make phone and video calls.

It makes it easy to communicate with colleagues.

What needs improvement?

One time the product was basically freezing. I couldn't send a message to my colleague for some reason. I had to restart the PC or restart my phone for some reason. I don't know why it was buggy. Maybe it was overloaded or something.

The desktop and mobile apps are quite different. They should work to make both virtually the same.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have had an issue in the past with it being buggy and freezing. I had to restart my devices to get it going again.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Everybody in our organization uses the solution. It’s on every PC in the company. It’s, give or take, a bit less than 100 people.

How are customer service and support?

Usually, I contact my IT team to share any issues. I haven't used the support from Microsoft Teams. Usually, it doesn't have that many issues. It's just straightforward.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I’ve also used Slack.

Teams can be used as an internal tool, whereas Slack might be considered more public. We are able to share internal documentation more effectively with Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is effortless and straightforward. It’s not complex at all.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't know how much it costs. That’s not an area I am involved in.

What other advice do I have?

I’m not sure which version of the solution we’re using.

It’s good to use it internally with colleagues. You do not have to share anything with external organizations. It gives you basically the advantage of not having any external partners or anything. It's just for internal purposes with nothing to communicate with other partners. It’s a great internal tool.

I’d rate the solution nine out of ten.
