We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The main features of this solution are that it is easy to use, intuitive, and user-friendly. When I retrieve the data from the database it is in a very raw form, then when I use the Oracle Report Builder it has advanced intelligence features to allow me to view and make changes to the data easily.""It is easy to create a report quickly. It does not take much time to create an ad hoc report.""The most valuable feature is the openness of the solution. It helps us integrate some of our clients.""The most valuable features are the lexical parameters and distribution.""Provides good data visualization features, and provides a lot of visualization reports from various data sources.""The performance can issue queries to work in the Oracle database in Oracle's native language. There are a lot of visualizations which suit our business.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...The solution's initial setup was straightforward.""The most valuable feature of Oracle OBIEE is its ability to handle large volumes of data and provide traditional BI functionalities that developers can easily understand."

"Pentaho Business Analytics' best features include the ease of developing data flows and the wide range of options to connect to databases, including those on the cloud.""Pentaho is an analytics platform that can be used when an organization has a lot of big data storage systems already installed and needs to manage and analyze that data. It has a specific use case for unstructured data, such as documents, and needs to be able to search and analyze it.""The most valuable feature of Pentaho is the Tableau report.""I use the BI Server, CDE Dashboards, Saiku, and Kettle, because these tools are very good and highly experienced.""Easy to use components to create the job.""We were able to install it without any assistance from tech support.""The initial setup is pretty straightforward."

"The solution scales extremely well.""The most valuable feature of Salesforce Einstein Analytics is the reporting tools.""The way Salesforce Einstein Analytics is structured in terms of the work assignments and the user profile is very good.""The tool is a cloud-based solution capable of integrating any kind of data in the world.""Tableau CRM is a very capable solution. It is easy to use, user-friendly, and integrates well.""It is a comprehensive solution. It has everything in it. I can easily find what I need.""It's scalable.""Transparency is the most valuable feature of this solution."

Cons
"I would like to see Machine Learning included in this solution.""I find I prefer Oracle OAC over OBIEE. It's more advanced, has artificial intelligence, and there's more that we can do with it in general. OBIEE is lacking features.""n the beginning it had it's stability issues, but it became stable.""The performance could improve and in a future release, they could provide more virtualization options.""Even though we have a feature to enable the physical query to be seen in the log, in case of any issues, it is challenging to debug and see or identify where is the issue. For example, we designed the OBIEE repository and deployed it into the server, and we are now accessing and creating a report. For some reason, if the report is not working as expected, it is very difficult to identify the issue. We have a feature to see the physical query that is being generated in the central OBIEE server. I feel that this feature should have been available at the repository level so that while designing the repository, we can select the presentation columns and the query it is going to create. This will avoid the additional task of deploying a feature into the server and then testing the report. It will also make the implementation process friendly if, while designing the repository, we can see: How is a feature working? Are any of the presentation columns selected? How is the query being generated? Which query is being generated? Are any joints used? What kind of joints are used? Having this kind of information will make Oracle OBIEE more powerful and developer-friendly.""Setup and migration are very complex. Technically, Oracle accessory is extremely complex. These days, the industry demands a kind of Excel analysis, which is very easy to install, set up, and it's very developer-friendly as well as end-user friendly. OBIEE lacks all those features.""There could be better integration with other solutions, such as Microsoft Office.""It's not so flexible to do BI reporting directly from the data source without models. It is not that agile."

More Oracle OBIEE Cons →

"Version control would be a good addition.""Deployment is not simple. It is not simple because we are dealing with a lot of data; we are dealing with a lot of storage. So, it's not a simple process.""Pentaho, at the general level, should greatly improve the easy construction of its dashboards and easy integration of information from different sources without technical user intervention.""Another concern is that Pentaho is not customizable or interactive.""Logging capability is needed.""Pentaho Business Analytics' user interface is outdated.""We did not achieve the ROI. The work delivered to users had lesser value than the subscription cost.""The repository should be improved."

More Pentaho Business Analytics Cons →

"If I could improve Tableau CRM I would make it as powerful as Tableau. Tableau CRM is more integrated and it's on the web, but it has less functionality. It is lacking functionality at this time.""Better pricing would make it available to more users and we would likely use it more broadly within the organization.""The price of Salesforce Einstein Analytics is quite a bit expensive for the region of Mexico. I think the price of the product could be better.""I would advise others not to customize because they rolled out the newer versions, which are every six months. There had to be some significant testing and verification that happened. It is important to have a strong third-party provider that is very experienced. We used Deloitte, but we evaluated Accenture, KPMG, and IBM, but we decided on Deloitte and that was a good decision for us. Having a partner who has a center of excellence or experts that could give you a lot of the tips that they've learned could jumpstart your deployment and stick to the standards.""They have a lot of opportunity to improve BI tools. With Einstein Analytics, we have a very minimal scope.""They can provide more end-user customizations. There should be the possibility for the end-users to change some elements in the interface. I have a way of doing my job. My colleague may have his own way of doing his job. If I ask for a change, it'll change for everyone. It'll be good to have some end-user personalizations. I can't see many in Salesforce right now.""There are some offerings like Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud that have very useful online learning options. There need to be more avenues for self-learning with this particular solution. That would be useful.""The product is natively integrated into the Salesforce ecosystem. You also need a CRM license. It should be more flexible with other platforms."

    Reviews from Real Users

Sandeep V., Process System Engineer at a comms service provider, tells us, “This solution is very easy for people who are building ad-hoc things. It's an enterprise solution so it can be deployed for a lot of users. There are some great new features that come with the 12c like data visualization, desktop BI Publisher, automation, and interactive dashboards. The product has good features. “

A user who is a CEO at a consultancy relates, “The most valuable feature is the visualization. The data warehousing, data storage, and data wrangling are all features that are in there, and it's one of the better products out there. A good thing is that for large datasets, it's very stable, especially when you have an Oracle database.”

A user who is a Principal Business Intelligence Architect at a computer software company suggests, "It is very biased towards Oracle infrastructure. One of the major red flags we have at the moment against Oracle is that it doesn't support deployment on other cloud providers. We're quite heavily vested in AWS as our infrastructure, and Oracle is yet to formally support deploying on those virtual infrastructure instances. That's quite disappointing, and it also cuts them out of over 70% of the market."

Pentaho is an open source business intelligence company that provides a wide range of tools to help their customers better manage their businesses. These tools include data integration software, mining tools, dashboard applications, online analytical processing options, and more.

Pentaho has two product categories: There is the standard enterprise version. This is the product that comes directly from Pentaho itself with all of the benefits, features, and programs that come along with a paid application such us analysis services, dashboard design, and interactive reporting.

The alternative is an open source version, which the public is permitted to add to and tweak the product. This solution has its advantages, aside from the fact that it is free, in that there are many more people working on the project to improve its quality and breadth of functionality.
