We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The tool is a hosting platform that we can leverage to open servers. We can use it to build databases. We use cost management and high-performance capabilities of the tool.""The most valuable features are load balancers, databases, and S3 buckets.""The most valuable features of Amazon AWS are the high level of capabilities, cloud-native environment, developer-friendly, intuitive interface, and automation. The solution overall is easy to learn from the resources available.""The most valuable features I have found are the Database Migration Service (DMS) for monitoring the host and routing, Route 53, and EC2 tools. The DMS is not available in any other solution that I am aware of. They have a very flexible and professional solution.""AWS is stable.""The availability is good, you can get any service you need immediately.""It's quite stable and scalable. The price is good as well.""It streamlines tasks like table creation and data loading into Redshift, making the process more efficient and manageable."

More Amazon AWS Pros →

"The most valuable feature is the ease with which you can create a phishing server and use it.""The solution is very stable.""The user interface is nice, and it is very easy to use. Anyone can use it.""I like Kubernetes integration.""It's been a good choice for us for some services. We generally have several deployments. For instance, for some static Angular applications, it was a clear choice to run them on Cloudflare, which performs very well in this context. All the assets go on DigitalOcean.""The customer support team are very responsive.""The solution is easy to set up.""The most outstanding aspect of DigitalOcean is its user interface and ease of use. Compared to more complex solutions, such as AWS, DigitalOcean's platform is highly intuitive and user-friendly."

More DigitalOcean Pros →

"The most valuable features of Google Firebase are its database, noSQL database, file storage, authentication, and notifications.""If you are selling an app with extensive Firebase use, costs may go up.""This solution supports our real time database. We also use it for AB testing and for its Google Cloud functions. We make use of Crashlytics and reporting on details.""Google Analytics for Firebase is the best feature of the solution.""Google Firebase is one I like a lot because it gives us a little bit more power and accessibility when it comes to publishing apps a lot quicker and for the needs that we have.""We're able to use the solution in several processes.""It's stable.""I love Firebase's notifications, crash analytics, and bug tracking. It gives you detailed reporting about app usage and users."

Cons
"AWS could be more scalable.""In terms of additional features we'd like to see, the one thing that comes to mind is better integration with Oracle. We have a lot of Oracle databases, and there is no other option to either migrate to PaaS, stay on-prem, or use Oracle Private Cloud.""The technical support should be better than what is on offer right now.""The technical support can take longer than expected sometimes. They could improve on this.""One problem is that the AWS public cloud doesn't have shared storage capabilities. The second thing is the cloud performance versus on-prem.""In terms of technical features, I don't see anything missing. The only two points in favor of other providers are the price and local support. The main problem that we see here in Brazil is the price. It is much more expensive than any other cloud provider. Their local support can also be better. We get more support from some of the other providers here in Brazil as compared to AWS.""The customization could improve. However, it depends on the customization needed.""While AWS often is at the top of my list to recommend to people, I always have to tell them, "Hey, you got to be careful because if they don't like you, they can shut you down in a heartbeat. And they can kill an entire company by doing that.""

More Amazon AWS Cons →

"We found the solution to be a bit expensive.""I would like to see an automation feature added to send emails out using the open-source solution.""I think something needs to be done in terms of technical support.""I would like to see improvements to the logging and user interface. The verification process could be more streamlined.""The technical support for this solution could be improved.""The issue with DigitalOcean is primarily the latency. So, when you have a mixed system with some components staying here, and then we encounter network latency, it's not optimal. Our""Other solutions are proving the monitoring feature, like AWS having GuardDuty and SAP having services for logs and monitoring. DigitalOcean doesn’t have any other benefits.""The solution could improve by having integration with GitHub."

More DigitalOcean Cons →

"Google Firebase should add extra functionality to do global delete and updates across your database.""They have discontinued some very valuable features, including the Firebase UI that I used to log in.""I rate the support from Google Firebase a four out of five.""The solution needs to offer capabilities to work offline. Like Firestore, we should be able to do insertion, updating, and deletion offline.""The cold start-up of the cloud function needs to speed up. For me personally, I'm not experienced in anything there, however, I've just read online it's a problem.""Firebase's real-time information isn't technically real-time. It takes a while to upload user activity into the app. It's not as fast as Datadog, the other solution we use.""Integrations and extensions offered by the product are quite limited presently.""We had some compatibility issues with Elixir."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Be careful with your consumption, especially when you are testing things. Costs can creep up on you relatively fast, without even noticing."
  • "AWS is scalable depending on your needs so pricing is dependant on what you use."
  • "It is decently priced. The competition is also bringing its own cloud offerings, such as from Oracle."
  • "When we shifted the load to AWS we paid a high cost as the mail stores were hosted on EBS. The storage cost drastically reduced after moving to S3."
  • "If you can plan capacity for one or three years, you can use the upfront payment option which allows you to save up to 50%."
  • "One of the best thing in Amazon AWS is you are billed for the service you use."
  • "We are reducing costs year-over-year."
  • "Much faster than other solutions at a super low cost."
  • More Amazon AWS Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The program is cheaper than others."
  • "This is a pay as you go solution. There is no license and it is usage based."
  • "There is no licensing fee but there is a subscription cost based on how much RAM and storage you require."
  • "The price of DigitalOcean could be lower. It is expensive. it's higher than other solutions available in the market. We pay approximately $20 to $25 a month to use the solution. The price we pay is for the shared CPU option."
  • "The solution provides the cheapest cloud in comparison to the other cloud solutions."
  • "The pricing is cheap."
  • "I would rate DigitalOcean's pricing a six out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is very expensive."
  • More DigitalOcean Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "They have a free tier that will cover most projects. For more intensive use, you pay as you use it, but the price is very cheap."
  • "It is not easy to calculate the cost per copy, use or if the load rose dramatically we did not know how that would impact the final price."
  • "The monthly cost is based on writing data and queries to the database."
  • "The pricing component is a bit confusing when it comes to what exactly you'll pay for, but I wouldn't say it's expensive."
  • "The moment you go into volumes, then you work on a pay-per-volume basis."
  • "The price of Google Firebase is very good."
  • "We are using the free version of Google Firebase."
  • "Pricing for Google Firebase is not so expensive, and if you're a start-up with a small amount of data, it will be quite cheap, and there's even a free tier that you can use. If you're doing a pilot with a reasonable amount of data, for example, just a few gigabytes, it's still on the free tier. If you increase the amount of data, Google Firebase pricing is still reasonable."

Amazon Web Services, Rackspace OpenStack, Microsoft Windows Azure and Google are the major cloud hosting and storage service providers. Athough Amazon is top of them and is oldest in cloud market, Rackspace, Microsoft and Google are giving tough competition to each other and to Amazon also for alluring IT customers. This article give brief history of these cloud hosting service providers and compares the cloud services provided by them. -- Amazon Web Services -- It's hard to find someone who doesn't agree that Amazon Web Services is the market leader in IaaS cloud computing. The company has one of the widest breadths of cloud services - including compute, storage, networking, databases, load balancers, applications and application development platforms all delivered as a cloud service. Amazon has dropped its prices 21 times since it debuted its cloud six years ago and fairly consistently fills whatever gaps it has in the size of virtual machine instances on its platform - the company recently rolled out new high-memory instances, for example. There are some cautions for Amazon though. Namely, its cloud has experienced three major outages in two years. One analyst, Jillian Mirandi of Technology Business Researcher, has suggested that continued outages could eventually start hindering businesses' willingness to invest in Amazon infrastructure. That sentiment gets to a larger point about AWS though - the service seems to be popular in the startup community, providing the IT… Read more →
