Acronis Cyber Protect Other Solutions Considered
We've been looking at Redstone, Acronis CyberProtect, and also the Veeam Azure component. But we want to stay on-premises at this point in time, mainly because the data storage costs in the cloud are exorbitant.
We're currently using Acronis, but we're considering moving to Veeam. We always considered going with Veeam, but in the beginning, Veeam was much more expensive than Acronis.
However, now we're finding that their price points are much closer together, so the move to Veeam is not such a dramatic jump as it was a couple of years ago.

We briefly considered Veeam, Metallic IO and Redstor. As a backup solution, Acronis is great.

Barracuda Backup and EaseUS Todo Backup.
We evaluated Symantec Ghost and this product.
View full review »We did look around at the different options. I can’t recall the names of them now, but other commercial server-level products that would do the same thing, but they were probably a little higher in price. At the time they are higher in price and Acronis was more competitive that way.

View full review »I looked at VeeAm, Backup Exec, Solarwinds and Redstor. Veeam requires the installation of SQL even on workstations. In my experience this impacted overall performance of workstations. Backup Exec I found frustrating to administer and Solarwinds, although fantastic for File Backups and Office365, is not ideal for image backups. The bare metal restore (BMR) for Solarwinds is extremely basic and only restores to the first available SATA drive it finds. I accidentally overwrote important data using Solarwinds BMR since it does not warn you or give you an option to choose a destination drive for the restore. And after the BMR the machine did not want to boot, meaning I could not rely on the solution in times of crisis. Redstor is a great product and works well, but it is complicated to get to know and even after a course on it, I still felt a bit lost. Plus it was really expensive compared to Acronis.

Before one of my recent clients choose Acronis Backup, I was looking to see if there any other products that were preferable. However, my client ultimately preferred Acronis.

A few solutions, even a freeware solution, I think
The most reliable solution that I found, it was Acronis because of the program, which is why I would choose Acronis.

We did an evaluation of many different solutions, primarily because we were moving from more on-premise to cloud-based solutions. So, as a result of going to the cloud, we looked at the Best of Breed in the cloud space.
Ultimately, we implemented two solutions. We use a Veeam cloud backup appliance solution and a leveraged TSM environment for our core operations provider. It was decided based on cost flexibility and technology richness.

We have been evaluating Barracuda to learn more about the services it offers.
View full review »If I was to compare this product with Veritas, Druva, or Azure, the main difference I see is that those products only include the backup functionality. What Acronis provides is much more than that. It provides backup, management, and security, as well as vulnerability management and patch management, and a little bit of DLP. They include many packages. It adds an extra layer to the offering.

View full review »We did yes. We looked at Symantec and Microsoft. Symantec seemed very clunky and not too up-to-date backing up to digital medium.
View full review »We did look at other solutions. I had used Acronis before this version, i.e., just a single standalone setup that had the whole user interface. So, I was familiar with Acronis and I leaned towards it versus trying a lot of the other ones. I was using the Windows one prior to it. I didn't really evaluate too many options. The price was right, so I just went with it.

I evaluated Mozy at the time I was evaluating Acronis Backup. Acronis could do what Mozy could not. I realized that they had a local distributor for us, who offered us a lot of help.
View full review »Yes, but it was so long ago that I don’t remember the names of the alternative products.
View full review »The reason I got Acronis was really for it's universal restore. The ability to restore on a brand new, bare bones, different mother board-type of computer. A total different build. That was my main reason for getting it, which so far has been great, because I've done it two, three times already.
The other backup type is file back, which is where I used Seagate. Seagate has backup software that backs up any files that are changed, that have new time stamps on them. So that's the only other type of backup I had, but that has nothing to do with bare-bones, which is what Acronis is mainly for.
View full review »I had several choices. I don't recall all the names. We narrowed it down to a choice between two or three products, and we had some specific features in mind that we wanted to make sure that we could do. Being able to run servers virtually off-site, and some other things like that.

Discovered Acronis first, and went with the solution. Found it to be more user friendly and flexible.
View full review »Yes, we evaluated Norton, which I don't like. Acronis. And then, of course, the Microsoft solution.
I like Acronis as a company and the backup solution. Like I said, I've used it before, and it was very easy to use. It was a different backup solution than the one I'm currently using, but still made by Acronis.
The same thing with Norton, I've had experiences with Norton, and it's a pain. There is always a problem, I have had configuration issues and restore issues using Norton. I don't know if it was that particular situation where it was a problem, but I've use Norton a couple of times and it's always been problematic. Every time I've used Acronis in the past - I've been doing this for 25 years - I haven't had any problems. So my experience in the past taught me to steer away from certain things. I don't use anything that has that word "Norton" on it. Seriously, whether it's antivirus, backup, it doesn't matter. Every time I've ever use any of their products it's always been a pain to get it configured and for it to work properly.
I did not. This product was recommended to me. I tried it and investigated it. I found that it suited our needs at a reasonable cost.
