A scalable tool that offers features allowing users to see all the digital footprints related to processes in a particular environment
Pros and Cons
  • "Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Celonis is a wonderful tool, so you cannot find any drawbacks at the right moment."
  • "With Celonis, the way to use the product is one of the main difficulties users face in our company."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to deal with API processes, to understand business flows, and end-to-end processes.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the solution are Celonis Process Explorer and Variant Explorer, which allow users to see all the digital footprints related to processes.

What needs improvement?

With Celonis, the way to use the product is one of the main difficulties users face in our company. In our company, we use Celonis for analysis, KPIs, and dashboards, and though the creation of new views is not too difficult for me, I cannot use all the luxurious things that we use in Celonis in our company while dealing with the analysis part. In general, the tool is easy to use, but our company doesn't get the luxury of using all the components in the analysis area of the product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Celonis for a year. My company has a partnership with Celonis.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In terms of scalability, Celonis has more potential than Tableau and Power BI. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten. Celonis is a wonderful tool, so you cannot find any drawbacks at the right moment.

How are customer service and support?

My company connects daily with Celonis' technical support team. Celonis' technical support team is very supportive, and our company can reach out directly to the support team if we have any queries.

Within a day or two, the technical support team of Celonis solves our company's issues.

I rate Celonis' technical support team a seven out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

In Celonis, when our company has all the configuration permissions, then the initial setup phase becomes easy, especially when we want to connect to their source system. Otherwise, users can use Slack to deal with the product's initial setup phase, which is an easy process. The source system makes documentation available in Celonis, so it is not difficult for anybody to deal with the product's setup phase.

The solution is deployed on the cloud, and if you don't want to connect to the systems, then it can always provide the data in a flash file.

Celonis doesn't need users to follow a deployment process since one has to just give users access to Celonis EMS to users so that they can see the process flow. There are no deployment issues in Celonis, and once any model is built with the product, our company has to provide training to the client on how to use all the dashboards and KPIs with Celonis Process Explorer and Variant Explorer.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Though Celonis is a bit pricey, it is worth it.

What other advice do I have?

I suggest that others who plan to use the solution first use Celonis Academy Training.

With Celonis, my company builds apps and publishes them in marketplaces, and if anybody wants to use a particular app, then our company builds it for them, after which they can download it or purchase it from us.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.

An execution management and process mining solution with a useful "spaghetti" process feature
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the spaghetti it throws off when configuring the sequence of processes and tracking the endpoint. I also like the variation from these defined processes and what is being observed on the ground. I'm exploring the root cause analysis a lot these days, and it seems to be quite interesting. But again, there are a lot of external dependencies on that. But I think the spaghetti, and the one that shows the variation and the performance gap, is something which I really like."
  • "I would really appreciate it if Celonis had significant compatibility with robotic process automation solutions. Once they define the process and understand it, streamline it, optimize it, and take inputs around it. When they reconfigure the process, there should be good compatibility with any of the automation tools, wherein I can integrate for robotic process automation, where I can streamline many of these processes on the application itself. Today, I need to extract this process and reload it into other tools, like UiPath, to integrate them with Automation Anywhere. If this tool can provide that efficiency, that would be great. I'm a data analytics guy. I lead a data analytics team. So technically, I would primarily look at if this can give me a visualization opportunity and integrate that in terms of the data."

What is our primary use case?

I use Celonis for some of the requirements needed to complete my tasks as a data analyst.

What is most valuable?

I like the spaghetti it throws off when configuring the sequence of processes and tracking the endpoint. I also like the variation from these defined processes and what is being observed on the ground.

I'm exploring the root cause analysis a lot these days, and it seems to be quite interesting. But again, there are a lot of external dependencies on that. But I think the spaghetti, and the one that shows the variation and the performance gap, is something which I really like.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with Celonis for more than four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is quite adequate for our requirements. I have not faced a massive glitch, which I need to be concerned about.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have not tried to scale it because we just have it in a couple of people's systems. We have not seen any challenges at this point in time, and our usage is limited to a small team. We have about 15 users.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used other tools, like the IBM tool and SAP Signavio, and I think UiPath is good. Ignoring the lack of automation capabilities, I think Celonis is pretty nice. I prefer Celonis because of its user-friendliness, visualization and process comparison, spaghetti, and user reviews. I think it's much more comfortable.

How was the initial setup?

I never had any challenges in setting up the Celonis. I don't think it was difficult.

What about the implementation team?

I implemented this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price could be better. If you ask a customer, they will always say it's highly-priced. In my personal opinion, the cost can be at the lower end. I think it's suitable for large organizations at this point in time.

What other advice do I have?

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Celonis an eight.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A good overall product that is easy to use and easy to configure
Pros and Cons
  • "The real-time replication was just implemented and is quite useful."
  • "The solution can be a bit expensive."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for process mining.

I've installed various Celonis agents. We are disconnected from the Celonis cloud and doing real-time replication of the tables.

What is most valuable?

There is good business process intelligence to be explored.

It is easy to use. The product offers easy configurations.

The real-time replication was just implemented and is quite useful.

There are business process reports that can be leveraged.

It's a good product. It extracts the customer business process, and it identifies all the issues in the current business processes. Issues are visible in the dashboard, and they can start working on improving those business processes based on what they see there.

It's scalable.

The solution is now stable.

What needs improvement?

The solution can be a bit expensive.

For how long have I used the solution?

The company has been using the solution for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We use a small agent on our landscape. When I initially install this agent, I didn't dedicate or allocate a separate server. I already have some other server that has small agents. I tried to use the same agent and the same server to install this agent. However, when we started doing real-time replication, that's when we saw some hiccups in ICPO usage, and we ended up installing it on a separate dedicated server.

This likely was not due to the Celonis. We already had some other processes and agents running on the same server and Celonis reported there are latency issues. That's when we made a decision to write code and allocate a separate server for Celonis and it has worked fine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I cannot reuse the same Celonis agent for all kinds of Celonis features. It has to be a separate agent. There are Celonis automation and Celonis data extraction - two different agents. We cannot have one agent accommodating both of them. Initially, we started with Celonis automation, and later we end up installing Celonisdata extraction for real-time replication. It can scale well.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple, and it is easy to configure. It takes less than one hour to configure to Celonis cloud and hand over the system to business process experts, and they can start extracting the data.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm not sure of the exact licensing cost.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I've also looked into SAP.

What other advice do I have?

We are Celonis partners.

I've seen Celonis actively used by many other customers. I'd rate it eight out of ten.

Great execution management and process intelligence
Pros and Cons
  • "My two favorite features are execution management and process intelligence, which provide 360-degree data."
  • "It would be helpful if they could categorize processes into tier levels."

What is our primary use case?

Celonis helps to understand the processes within a company. For example, if you are an insurance company, you can use it to check how the end user or the person who's doing data entry of underwriting is performing their tasks. You can also analyze the flow of insurance and determine how it should be done. This can help you reduce your costs by 30 to 40 percent.

Additionally, you can use Celonis to define and optimize your existing processes. By doing this, you can derive the perfect process mapping and customer claims processing can be streamlined. Celonis can be used for various processes, including underwriting, procurement, and end-customer claims.

How has it helped my organization?

We have around 110 to 120 developers under that, or multiple teams are there. They tend to do a lot of specific work for Celonis or process mining.

What is most valuable?

My two favorite features are execution management and process intelligence, which provide 360-degree data. These are my favorite features because they offer an implementation strategy for specific processes and provide recommendations. It's like having an expert provide a solution for a mining problem.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see additional features, such as starting up a kind of prototype based on the domain. For example, in the insurance domain, they could provide templates for top-tier processes. Currently, we are stating our own processes.

Additionally, it would be helpful if they could categorize processes into tier levels, such as tier one, two, and three, and provide guidance on aligning oneself accordingly. This could be useful in considering costs and other factors.

For how long have I used the solution?

We are using version 2022.4.4 of Celonis.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is great. I would rate it a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. The number of users varies from 10 to 12 because that's set up for the mining team

How are customer service and support?

The customer support is pretty good. They provide both on-call and email support, and they also have a good library of troubleshooting guides to refer to.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

For the last two years, my team and I have been working on the deployment processes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have a yearly subscription model. They started with nice protection, but it is pretty high now.

What other advice do I have?

For anyone doing process mining, this is the top tool available. It is the best one.

Overall, I would rate it an eight out of ten. The only drawback is the lack of domain-specific templates based on tier levels.

Effective multi-hop analysis, highly scalable, but other programming languages needed
Pros and Cons
  • "The documentation, multi-hop analysis, and SLA breaches are the most valuable features we have discovered."
  • "The Process Query Language (PQL) native language used in Celonis needs improvements. It has most of the process-related functions but we have queries from clients that cannot be done in PQL."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution in the telecom sector for a number of things, such as multi-hop analysis and SLA breaches.

What is most valuable?

The documentation, multi-hop analysis, and SLA breaches are the most valuable features we have discovered.

What needs improvement?

The Process Query Language (PQL) native language used in Celonis needs improvements. It has most of the process-related functions but we have queries from clients that cannot be done in PQL.

Most of the KPIs are done in PQL, if we could have support for other languages, such as Python. We could directly configure our KPIs using these other languages and it would be a great help.

When I am uploading data to Celonis it sometimes fails and this should be fixed in an upcoming release.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution within the last 12 months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable and reliable. It has all the security features needed.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found Celonis highly scalable, they have various connectors which we can directly download and connect to many source systems.

We have approximately 100 people using this solution in my organization and we plan to increase usage. We are targeting US and European markets, we definitely have a good pipeline for Celonis at the moment.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is responsive but I would not rate them as being very good because sometimes they get stuck and are not able to provide a reliable solution. There are times they do not understand the exact issue. They respond quickly but when we connect with them, we are faced with these issues.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was complex. The full deployment took approximately three months, this includes all the connectivity and KPI configuring. If you have a more basic setup it could take approximately two months.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution requires an annual license. There is room for improvement because it is priced for organizations and not for individuals. For an individual, it would be too expensive for them to use it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated a couple of software solutions before we chose Celonis for our clients because it has most of the features we were looking for, it is quite user-friendly, and it has an Azure configure.

I have evaluated and have a good understanding of Minit and UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Celonis to anybody who wants to enter into process mining space. My advice would be to have as much SQL knowledge as possible. They should learn SQL first before using this solution, it will make everything a lot easier.

I rate Celonis a seven out of ten.

A highly stable and easy-to-deploy solution that provides excellent features and customer support
Pros and Cons
  • "Action Flows are good."
  • "With every upgrade, the product is completely changed."

What is our primary use case?

The product is used for the core business processes like accounts payable, accounts receivable, and order management.

What is most valuable?

Celonis Studio was introduced recently. Earlier, Celonis was case-centric. It worked on a case level. Now, it groups object-centric things. Action Flows are good. Most of the features in Studio are valuable to us. The solution has many features.

What needs improvement?

With every upgrade, the product is completely changed. When we work on technological tools, improvements will be made. However, the product should be similar to its previous version even after upgrades. With Celonis, the product and its features are completely changed after upgrades. The new features launched are unrelated to the previous version's features. A person experienced with last year's version cannot use the features introduced in the latest version.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the solution for almost four to five years. I am working with the latest version of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool’s stability is good. There are no issues. I rate the stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the scalability of the tool an eight out of ten. Nearly 100 people in my organization are using the product. My clients are enterprise businesses.

How are customer service and support?

Earlier, the technical support was the worst. Now, it has improved.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I rate the ease of setup an eight out of ten. The solution is deployed on the cloud mostly. The product can be deployed within eight to ten weeks if the process is less complex. A complex process with more use cases would take more time.

What about the implementation team?

To deploy the solution, we need to understand the customer’s database environment and make a real-time connection. It is the most challenging part of the process. Customers don't allow us to connect to their databases. We must explain to them how we maintain their privacy and store their data. Once the connection is made, we just follow the normal procedures.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution’s pricing is high when compared to other process mining tools. I rate the pricing a seven out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

People looking to use the solution should understand the basics and how Celonis works at the architecture level. Many users get trained and come to the job directly without understanding how the architecture works. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Easy to use, scalable, and keeps adding good features regularly
Pros and Cons
  • "What I found most valuable in Celonis is the ease of use. I also like that users can compare and contrast and derive any KPIs, keep track and see what's happening within the process via Celonis."
  • "The task mining feature of Celonis needs improvement because it's more challenging than it looks."

What is our primary use case?

I've used Celonis for process mining, and it's the same as any process mining platform. I worked on the financial processes and the management side and did some benchmarking against KPIs.

What is most valuable?

What I found most valuable in Celonis is the ease of use.

I also like that users can compare and contrast and derive any KPIs, keep track and see what's happening within the process via Celonis.

The solution also allows different user levels, not just the C-suite level, to look at some of the cost corrections that can be done to reach goals. I find this helpful, mainly because the leadership team doesn't usually have an idea of what exactly happens in the day-to-day process, and this gives leaders good insight into what is happening and how it affects the KPIs.

What needs improvement?

The task mining feature of Celonis needs improvement because it's more challenging than it looks. The solution still has a long way to go in that area.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been on a break, but I used Celonis within the last twelve months. My experience with it is one and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Celonis stability is an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Celonis is a pretty scalable solution, but you must be more careful about the data you bring into the system. Do you think it's required? Otherwise, you'd have another data duplication on the cloud, where the cost could increase quickly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I haven't used any other solution apart from Celonis.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for Celonis is an eight out of ten, but it still depends on the data quality.

You need engineers and the development team to get the process started. Still, if you don't have the correct data, you'd spend a lot of time getting that in the proper format and extracting it from different systems.

Celonis can be fully deployed between three to six months, depending on the complexity.

What about the implementation team?

A third party implements Celonis projects for my company. I come from consulting, and I have clients on Celonis.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Pricing-wise, Celonis is a five out of ten right now because my clients just started with the solution. When my clients start looking at scaling Celonis, the cost will grow. Every user has an additional charge, and every gig of data you bring in costs extra. That's where you have to be careful when scaling the solution.

What other advice do I have?

The number of people involved in deploying Celonis depends on the scale of projects, but for one process, such as a financial end-to-end AP process, the initial development to deployment requires anywhere between three to four people, including engineers, processors, and consultants, at least.

My rating for Celonis is eight out of ten because it's coming up with many good features. Every day, there's something new about Celonis.

A stable solution that provides customizable overviews of the process but doesn't integrate easily with other cloud-based software
Pros and Cons
  • "The analyst role within this solution is very good; it provides a transaction dashboard, and KPI module, that are completely customizable."
  • "We would like this solution to be more flexible in how it interacts with other cloud-based database solutions, so that we can operate more seamlessly."

What is our primary use case?

We are currently using this solution for our P2P and O2C processes, as well as for the audit and conformance functions that the product provides.

What is most valuable?

The analyst role within this solution is very good; it provides a transaction dashboard, and KPI module, that are completely customizable.

What needs improvement?

We would like this solution to be more flexible in how it interacts with other cloud-based database solutions, so that we can operate more seamlessly.

We would also like the data compression element of the solution to be improved.  This would allow us to be more efficient with our data storage.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have found the solution to be stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have found that the solution is only scalable if an organization runs particular types of software.

How are customer service and support?

We have found the customer support to be very good.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward, but the deployment took 14 weeks from end to end due to the extent of our integration needs.

What other advice do I have?

We would advise companies to consider the software that this solution would need to integrate with before implementing the product, as this could make the implementation process a lot more complex.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
