Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers are Intel-based servers, but they offer certain big features, like features related to Cisco UCS Virtual Interface Card (VIC). Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers hook up to Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects, and then it goes as a leaf in Cisco ACI, and such an architecture gives a good network and bandwidth for both north-south and east-west access. Bandwidth is never a constraint because of Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects. The rack server itself is mostly networking since everything remaining is available with any other vendor. With rack servers, Cisco UCS VIC capabilities are good, allowing them to connect to Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects, so bandwidth is never a constraint.

The best feature is the flexibility to virtualize virtual machines in the product. The UCS is a server where users create virtual machines and deploy servers.

On the Cisco side, there is a benefit in terms of server management. Cisco provides UCS Manager, which is a multi-tenant site manager. We can manage multiple sites while maintaining disaster recovery, a feature not available on other platforms.  That's about the added value.

In terms of the features that I have found most valuable, that is the hardware, which is more dynamic. Cisco has the channels for the people to buy it. It has the red configurations, you can have more RAM and their CPUs have more code, depending on what kind of server you have, because there are three or four variations. So those options are available. Most of the customers we deal with have a smaller setting, like a voice solution. So they want the Cisco Call Manager. They go for the C 220 version, where they can employ two or three servers and two or three virtual machines, not the physical server. And they can get their voice setup working. If the customer is looking for more servers and more options, they go for more hardware, and a higher version of that server, such as 220, 240, and the like.

Performance is good, as well as manageability.

The interface is good.

It is very stable and easy to use. It integrates easily with Cisco's cloud-based UC solutions. There are tools for management that make the management a bit easier, but we don't use them. We don't use what you would term as power users.

What I really like about the Cisco USC Server is its service profile. They're using software abstraction, which means that the hardware is abstracted as a layer of software and managed by the UCS manager.
