Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"The tools are built-in. You just plug and play, drag and drop, once you understand how to use the tools, it is easy.""The most valuable feature of this solution is data preparation.""Alteryx is so advanced. It's just drag and drop.""The solution offers excellent predicting power. The accuracy and confidence have been great.""This is a drag-and-drop tool which is easy-to-use and yet can be customized by creating your own components.""The ease-of-use allows non-technical business users to directly create their own solutions without the use of additional development resources.""Alteryx has made us more agile and increased the speed and effectiveness of decision making.""The product is very stable and super fast, five-star. It's significantly more stable than it's nearest competitor."

"This solution has simplified getting to and understanding our data, no matter where it is housed.""This is a very cool application with endless options of creativity and visuals.""On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL.""The language support is very good.""Our Qlikview applications help us to get a good idea of our Client Base Performance and assist us in the decision making for Seasonal Specials. On the other hand QlikView helps us to get a grasp on our Suppliers and helps us to negotiate pricing with them.""The user interface and dashboards are very good.""Easy to analyze data by click-through."

Cons
"I think better visualization would be helpful to this solution.""It is a little bit pricey.""It seems to me that it is not always user friendly.""The event handling, such that the file system watcher, is in need of improvement.""It would be great if Alteryx could take third party tools and incorporate them.""The solution could work on the BI side of the tool to make it a bit better.""The GUI interface functions but it could stand to be updated to a more modern look and feel.""There is currently no cloud solution and this would be valuable for many clients."

More Alteryx Cons »

"This solution would be improved with the inclusion of a feature that would allow us to add a common library of (our) commands used in load scripts and expressions, so with a keyword, we would get a drop down to select the command we are looking for, as opposed to the generic help.""I really wish the application was easier to use in the development phase.""If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlik view's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve.""There is no automation or drag and drop functionality.""It would be nice if QlikView could be plugged in into the company's website or an online portal such as QlikSense is capable of. There are ways around but it takes enormous time to develop.""The solution is quite costly.""The user interface is old."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"It can be a bit pricey, especially after the first year.""The pricing is $5000 per year per production license.""We have a yearly cost that we pay for the licensing. We do not pay any costs in addition to the licensing fees.""Opt for the three year subscription. It is 20% less than the yearly one.""ROI is huge. There are some secondary benefits, like analysts getting their post 5 PM time back or the ability to shorten all closing processes to a half or less.""It is $4,000 a year, so it is cheap versus other solutions. It also accomplishes three times the volume on the job in the same time (as the other solutions).""There are some implementation services and internal effort costs at the beginning but there is nothing else.""The price for Alteryx Designer is reasonable but the price for Alteryx Server for universal collaborations is too expensive."

More Alteryx Pricing and Cost Advice »

"The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."

Comparison Review
Guillermo (Bill) Cabiro
I do use both Tableau and QlikView. Although very different, I really like both solutions. They belong to the new BI generation known as Interactive Visual Analytics. In my opinion, QlikView has a more intuitive interface for regular users or executives that are not technical experts but the development side is a little more complex. Up to version 12 QlikView did not provide drag & drop features. If a user wanted to see something not included in the application the new object had to be created by a power user or developer because Qlikview's scripting has somewhat of a learning curve. On the positive side, QlikView's scripting is a great asset as it functions as an ETL allowing the integration of hundreds of different data sources into the same visual app. Another feature that’s extremely useful is Qlik’s proprietary Associative Model that allows the users to visualize data relationships that exist as well as those that do not. Tableau on the other hand is a lot easier to use for developers, analysts or power users who need to connect, manipulate and visualize data rather quickly. While this makes Tableau a better fit for the more analytical crowd, it may not be as appealing or intuitive to the regular or casual business users as QlikView is. Tableau has full pivot, drag & drop and drill down capabilities that are great for developers or power users. They can rotate measures and dimensions and graph them instantly using visualization best practices as suggested by… Read more »
