Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"Auvik automatically updates network topology. Since it automatically updates the topology, we proactively know what is happening in a country or our branch offices. It also alerts us if there is a topology change, e.g., if it discovers anything new in that country. So, it has reduced the number of failures in our operations. We went from being reactive to proactive. So, we are no longer reacting to what is happening and others are doing. This has saved us about two to three hours a day. We used to spend two to three hours every morning checking the firewall and router logs for malicious behavior."

"I have found the cross analysis feature to be the most valuable.""We were able to standardize the internal processes across all internal departments, resulting in almost an elimination of non-standard process flows through our organization.""The most valuable feature is the auto-discovery, which is nice because you don't have to do anything to add a new component.""This product provides good visibility into applications at the backend.""What I like best is the configuration management functionality.""The most valuable feature is automatic discovery.""The fault management is perfect.""The most valuable feature is the ability to put health checks in place not only for the infrastructure but for some of the services that are on top of the infrastructure."

"The most important for us is how fast this solution is, as well as the granularity that you can get to, such as per-minute statistics.""We were having some issues with a certain site, and it was only Statseeker that showed us what the problem was.""The graphics and trends are the most valuable for us.""Being able to look back historically at the uptime and downtime is invaluable.""This solution allowed us to track down trouble users.""In terms of network visibility, Statseeker can be very granular. We can tell it exactly where we want it to go and where we want it to check, or it can do an SNMP walk and find out where everything is. It's very detailed.""Statseeker helps to quickly see if you have a spike or something going on. In the future, we need to get NetFlow in the tool so we can see what the IP is.""It also allows us to predict the capacity on WAN circuits, as well as other circuits, to help us plan for upgrading."

Cons
"They need to improve the reporting system. They still don't have a proper reporting system in Auvik. They have built a dashboard in Power BI using APIs, but they should build some sort of report within Auvik itself. If Auvik fixes the reporting or comes up with a good reporting module, it will change the game."

More Auvik Cons »

"For us, the implementation was quite complex but it's because of the large number of different environments we're dealing with.""We want to make our own choice for the AIOps solution and do not want to be forced to use the Broadcom OI solution by default.""The interface is not nice and needs to be improved.""There should be a facility to integrate with other monitoring applications that are currently running in the environment.""Huawei devices are not properly supported, and there are incompatibility issues related to certain protocols.""Event correlation only works on one server, rather than on all of the servers in the same cluster environment.""I think the management or configuration of devices needs some improvement.""Integration with some other tools, and integration with some Network Packet Broker, need some improvement."

More DX Spectrum Cons »

"I'd say the interface could improve a little bit. I find with new users, I tend to have to spend a bit of time walking them through how to use the interface. It could be a little more user friendly.""Maybe they could provide a little bit more flexibility on creating custom dashboards.""I would like to have soft alarming. If an inner-base all of a sudden triggers a threshold, we have to rely on a lot of other tools and then we go into Statseeker to verify it. If Statseeker would confirm it preemptively and trigger it into our network panel, that would be nice.""We haven't seen an ROI.""I would like the ability to update the dashboard. I would also like the ability to access via an API. Then I could produce a dashboard that my C level can understand. This is just so they can go and refresh whenever they want to and see what things look like.""With Statseeker I'd like to see some flow, i.e. what's tuning-up the network. The trend I like is managing the traffic load by going to the cloud.""The user interface needs to be made more intuitive.""This solution would be improved with better automatic discovery for ping-only devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Compared to other products, Auvik's pricing is more feasible since you get all its features. You pay for licenses on a per network device basis. It monitors hypervisors, but does not bill for that. There are no additional costs, which is something that I like."

More Auvik Pricing and Cost Advice »

"In general, the license cost will be about 30% of the total TCO for this tool (hardware/support team, OS costs, and OS management).""The product, support, and maintenance are all expensive, which is another reason that we are switching to another solution.""The price is very high."

More DX Spectrum Pricing and Cost Advice »

"We paid $5,000 to $10,000 a year in maintenance.""We have permanent licenses so there's really no cost, other than ongoing maintenance. When I think about it, that's running us about $20,000 a year.""It would definitely be a yearly licensing cost, but I don't know what it is.""It's probably $5K a year for the license.""Compared to other solutions such as Zabbix and AKiPS, this solution is very well priced.""We pay a yearly maintenance fee of approximately $40,000 USD.""The yearly cost varies as per the number of devices being monitored. The cost for 25,000 devices is about $4500.""When it came to selecting this solution, it came down to cost."
