We performed a comparison between HPE SimpliVity and HPE StoreVirtual based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, Nutanix, VMware and others in HCI."The price was right."
"We like their high availability. It reduces the downtime for our entire organization's environment."
"StarWind Virtual SAN is a very easy-to-use solution that can be quickly and easily deployed and configured without intimate and specific knowledge in the virtualization sphere."
"The fact that we can expand our storage and add on to our compute nodes easily and how amazing the StarWind technical support team is really adding value to our purchase."
"High Availability is the best feature of product."
"The management interface on the software is very simple. It is insanely simple compared to most SANs. The interface is also powerful when used to complete tasks that an IT administrator needs to complete."
"The most important feature is the ability to experience the loss of one node or one storage device, and not lose the entire cluster."
"The license price is one of the cheapest in the market."
"It has reduced my data center activities."
"The backup and recovery is very fast, effective, and easy to use."
"Its ease of use is valuable. It is being used in a mining company. They wanted their working nodes to be seamless, and they wanted ease of use. That's why they opted for SimpliVity. They are running VMware virtual machines on it."
"The solution is scalable."
"It has a proven track record of stability."
"Improves backup time and DR solution."
"The most valuable features of SimpliVity are the built-in backup and immunity to ransomware."
"PCX card implementation improves speed."
"HPE StoreVirtual is very easy to use from the management console."
"It allows compute and storage to operate separately, and has the ability to take SAN nodes out of production for maintenance with little effort and zero downtime."
"Data is stored in two different places, leveraging more security and availability. Therefore, network problems are having less affect on iSCSI."
"he interface and the installation makes it easy as it's all in one piece of hardware and it doesn't need to be connected to anything else."
"I guess on the top of the list is certainly ease of use."
"The initial setup is straightforward, not a complex procedure."
"The seamlessness behind the scenes of block management."
"Thin provisioning lets us get the most value from the hard drives."
"The main issue we ran into was the documentation. We attempted to set up the product in our test environment by ourselves and ran into several areas of the documentation that were unclear to us."
"I did not see any indication that StarWinds vSAN is a usable solution with non-GUI instances of Hyper-V."
"Perhaps the developer should refine the product management through PowerShell."
"For someone entering the IT sector with little knowledge of storage, iSCSI, and virtual disks, they might not find the GUI immediately obvious."
"It would be nice to add the ability to use raw partitions instead of file containers."
"I would like an automated installation/configuration despite the fact that their service is very collaborative, a customer should be able to deploy the solution by themselves."
"If it's possible to make a driver/solution that does not make use of the iSCSI targets of Windows, that would be great. I don't know if that's possible, however, it could make the configuration a little easier."
"We would like the documentation to be more complete. Most items are covered, but if you don't know something, you may need to contact their support."
"I have a free project with SimpliVity deployment in the next three months. What can be improved is that in one or two of these projects, I need a cloud backup for the infrastructure and data. As for the infrastructure of the product as it relates to customer size, it is not very good at this moment in Peru. I need a solution for the cloud. In Peru, it's a three or four solution provider for cloud services."
"The setup was complex, as it has multiple integrations with multiple orients."
"The solution could have an optimization site."
"They could have better-specialized support for more countries."
"SimpliVity has little to no integrations."
"HPE could give us more options for server models to chose when using the product. Right now, we can only use the DL380."
"The biggest feature, which should be included, is some method to handle archival backup or cloud-based backup. Where SimpliVIty typically falls down with their data structure is: The longer a backup is kept, the more space it ends up inevitably using. When you get into things that you have to keep for five or seven years for legal requirements or regulatory compliance, then you start taking up a lot of space with these old dead backups that you are probably never going to use again. Being able to offload those to a separate platform or cloud storage location would be ideal."
"The interface is good but takes some time to get used to."
"User interface could be improved."
"The solution needs to ensure it is on par with the industry in terms of availability of features and various other options."
"The penalty for the availability is performance. So, you have to balance or choose between the availability and the performance."
"The GUI is a bit old-fashioned. It should be updated."
"Hardware and disk failures are happening frequently."
"It would be nice if there were more parts available in Brazil and HPE could swap out faulty equipment quicker."
"I would like to have this solution easily integrate with VMware."
"In our country, Qatar, most of the industry isn't using too much HP. StoreVirtual doesn't move fast. It's not a popular product."
