Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of Prometheus is the ease of pulling the metrics.""The feature I found most valuable is the number of integrations. It is the industry standard for metrics.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The most valuable features of Prometheus for metrics collection and monitoring are its stability, robustness, and rich set of features.""The sky is the limit because the solution is a flexible open box that can be used vastly to do anything you need to monitor applications.""The dashboard is very valuable.""The product’s scalability is valuable.""The good thing is it integrates well with the Grafana dashboard. It comes with a UI where you see everything as a graph."

More Prometheus Pros →

"The most valuable features are network bandwidth monitoring and monitoring device health.""The interactive mapping interface for scrolling, zooming, and drilling down on an element to learn about a network issue is good. When we see a network there will sometimes be a spot that has one link. You can go into a particular part of the topology map, scroll in, and see exactly which module it is.""We no longer have to manually search for problems because we are alerted when something in the network goes down.""The product is reasonably priced.""The solution effectively monitors network devices and servers.""It handles the basics of monitoring.""WhatsUp Gold is very easy to deploy.""The installation and configuration process are easy."

Cons
"The setup process could be more straightforward.""The product must improve its documentation.""The scalability must be improved.""Prometheus' UI color can improve. Using the Prometheus UI for configuration or analyzing queries is a horrible experience.""The query language in Prometheus is an area of concern where improvements are required.""The setup could be made easier for new users because it requires a bit of advance knowledge or experience.""Prometheus can be initially difficult for users since it has its query language, PromQL. The minimalistic interface is complicated to understand. They need to improve their interface so that users who don't know PromQL can also use it. You can only leverage the tool when you know PromQL.""Prometheus requires improvement on the query side."

More Prometheus Cons →

"Regional product team support is not very good.""The initial setup of WhatsUp Gold is a medium range of difficulty levels. However, if it is your first time it could be difficult.""You have to invest a few days to become an expert in this solution.""One of the biggest things that made us start to look at another product is we're not able to have an end to end monitoring from a user perspective throughout the system and back to the user. All the monitoring is from inside out, we need something that also can give us from outside in.""WhatsUp Gold should work on real-time monitoring and configuration management. If they succeed in doing this, the solution will cover all the network troubleshooting aspects and will be a benefit.""The licensing model could be improved. Right now, the levels are too far apart. This causes the solution to be more expensive than it needs to be.""I might like to see a better interface in the future.""I would like to see them do an enhancement to the application monitoring. A lot of other products do better application monitoring so they should do some improvements to the application monitoring."
