What is most valuable?

The interface in the last few years it has been a lot greater, they are much more user-friendly. I like the interface.

What needs improvement?

One of the biggest things that made us start to look at another product is we're not able to have an end to end monitoring from a user perspective throughout the system and back to the user. All the monitoring is from inside out, we need… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In terms of pricing, I'd say that the pricing is nice and the product is good. If your needs are within what the product delivers I'd say go for it.

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

WhatsUp was my first entry to the world of monitoring, when I was questioned to do change task at work and take over the monitoring, we were already running WhatsApp. So WhatsApp was the product of choice by them and has been ever since.

What other advice do I have?

I would give the solution a seven out of 10. It does what it's supposed to do so if the product fulfills your needs I have no problem recommending the product. I'm currently looking at changing it to another solution because it's not giving… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We offer PRTG Network Monitor as an alternative solution to our customers, some of whom choose this because of the lower cost.

What is most valuable?

It is very good at monitoring the network and keeps us up to date on the status of internal devices.

How has it helped my organization?

It has been used for internal network monitoring but now we need to extend our capabilities and it does not appear to have this solution.

What needs improvement?

This product should add other options for monitoring. It does not currently meet the broader needs of the banking industry in the version we have deployed. We are looking to monitor our ATMs Machina .

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We only use the product for monitoring our network devices. We don't look to it to provide security because adding that functionality adds that price to our costs. Overall, the pricing is a little… more»

What needs improvement?

I think there are a few bugs now. Although they give some resolution for this, we cannot share the network remotely because of our company policy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are some subscription charges that are quite heavy. I need to pay for support every year and these charges can be quite expensive. Aside from the initial cost for the tool, you need to pay additionally for support.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend WhatsUp Gold. I would rate it eight out of ten. Although the features are nice, it is quite expensive. It's not cost-effective.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also considered PRTG and SolarWinds. I do not remember the report, but we came to the conclusion that WhatsUp Gold was the system for our position.

What is most valuable?

The threshold alerting is the most valuable feature.

How has it helped my organization?

We've been using it for many years and we use it typically for early warning. It notifies customers of problems prior to failure.

What needs improvement?

The user interface has room for improvement. I would like to see them do an enhancement to the application monitoring. A lot of other products do better application monitoring so they should do some… more»

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the monitoring of resources. The reporting of uptime and other statistics is also useful.

What needs improvement?

The version that we are using seems pretty clunky and not very well-designed. I would like to see the user interface improved to provide a better flow. It seems that the interface is designed by an engineer. I like to have a technical interface, but in this solution, some things need to be better… more»

What other advice do I have?

We are running an older version of this solution, so it is tough to say. In general, this solution does its job, but if you are looking for bells and whistles then look elsewhere. I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My understanding is that there are better products out there that do a better job.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are network bandwidth monitoring and monitoring device health.

What needs improvement?

Integrations with other devices. I want to have a product that has full integration with my active directory so I can track user activity. I want to track my complete user activity, so I'm looking for a product to implement in the near future, which will have full integration with my network and active directory users. It became very difficult to track user activity.
