SharePoint Designer Initial Setup
The initial setup was very easy for me.
View full review »The solution has a steep learning curve. Once you start working on it, hands-on, then it becomes generally easier. That said, once you open the software for the first time, you probably might find it very jarring or tough. Later on, when you start working on it, it gets easier. For me, I've worked with a lot of software in my lifetime, and SharePoint, once you start working on it, does become easier.
The time it takes to deploy varies as we have to give access permissions, et cetera.
We developed it on our systems and then gave access to the clients to enter into our servers and then enter their data. Now, this particular process was not very streamlined for us, however, it fulfilled our purpose. We did not have any issues with the timelines of deployment. We just recreated everything on the client's environment. In that sense, there was no actual deployment.
We had a set of 120 different people who are users. We gave them group user access. It was relatively quick, and we did it in one or two days. Obviously, there were certain issues related to the firewall and their own SharePoint servers, which created an issue, however, these were diagnosed fairly quickly.

The initial setup is really easy. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a nine out of ten, where one being difficult and ten being easy.
But it depends on how you're using it. For someone with an IT background, it's a breeze. So, for me, it was pretty straightforward.
The deployment process was short. It just took a few minutes.

It took half an hour to deploy the tool.
Regarding the setup phase, it's easy and simple to use. There is nothing much to complain about.
It is based on one's experience and use cases that one reaches SharePoint. Then, you may want to share it with your colleagues based on the project. If you have a department and you want to share it among your department, you need to identify the use case before you post it with SharePoint. Once you establish the use case as a requirement, then it's easy, and it's like a sharing folder.
Two people are used for deployment and maintenance. We only have one system administrator and security team to support us on deployment.

I struggle with the installation. We are not a small company and there are three equal sides. You need to get them right, otherwise, SharePoint won't install properly. A single installation takes a couple of hours. You need time to do separate functionality.
The program wasn't easy to deploy either, because when I integrate solutions, I have to do so many things before I can deploy SharePoint. So the process is a little tedious due to the security features of the program, but once you get it, it becomes easier. But its always a challenge for someone who is unfamiliar with this program.
