Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention Other Advice

CP
Director at Specsia

For those new to DLP seeking basic protection, Trend Micro is a feasible option, especially for those with limited budgets.

However, for customers needing advanced security features, such as data protection in motion and at rest with granular control, we recommend Forcepoint, which offers cloud-based and on-premises solutions tailored to the customer's infrastructure and budget.

Overall, I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. We have regular interactions and training sessions with Trend Micro, which helps maintain a good relationship with them.

I will suggest a product to a customer based on their budget. If users have the budget to buy a product like Trend Micro Apex One, they can buy it. Customers can also go for other products, like Seqrite, Sophos, CrowStrike, and Cisco AMP. Based on the customers' budgets, they can also go for Trend Micro Deep Security. Trend Micro provides Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention, and Trend Micro Deep Security supports legacy operating systems in areas like installations. Even Sophos supports legacy operating systems.

There are no server requirements to deploy the product, meaning users can install it using existing products in their environment, like Trend Micro Apex One.

I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.

We are partners and resellers of the solution.

In terms of using the solution, it all starts with policies. If new users have clear policies, and they're able actually to implement that, and they are able actually to identify their information and correctly classify that information, then Trend Micro, any other DLP would work. However, if the classification policies are not in place and companies are not properly classifying the data, then DLP is a nightmare.

A company needs to have dedicated admins just to administer data leakage issues. They need to have people who can implement policies and monitor them regularly. If someone is trying to implement DLP, then they need to address the issues first. Once that's done, buying the solution is just a click away. It is the rest of the stuff that takes time.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

I didn't use any dashboard in Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention. I'm just a user, not an administrator, so I couldn't see the dashboard.

Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention had 50 users within the company. There were no plans for increasing the number of users because the solution is no longer being used.

I would recommend Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention to people who may want to start using it.

I'm rating Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention a seven. It's a good enough score because I don't have reason to give it an eight, nine, or ten out of ten. I only give a ten or nine or eight when I see extra "feel good" benefits given to customers such as additional features bundled in the package. For example, Sophos is an endpoint security solution, but it also has a DLP feature. It's not a DLP product, but it gives you a DLP feature. It's an add-on that will make customers feel fine.

The advice I would give to others who are looking into implementing this product is that I'm not sure that I will recommend this product. There are a lot of compatible products available in the market. The customer service and technical support are better than Trend Micro.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I would give Trend Micro a 7 out of 10.

I'd rate the solution at three out of ten.

We see many options and update our configurations to get more prevention options.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about the solution. I need to learn about it and to acquire some skills before I can really talk about its pros and cons. Currently, it's okay, but largely our support company helps us with the IT environment.

I don't know if I would recommend it to other companies.

I would tell those planning to use the solution that they don't opt for it. The product and support for the solution are bad, as the solution has many bugs. Also, the solution is not very reliable. I rate the overall solution a one out of ten.

I would advise anyone using Trend Micro Data Loss Prevention to ascertain exactly what the departments in their organization are and how many there are in total before launch.

This will make the process easier for deployment. Overall, I would rate Trend Micro Data Loss Prevention a nine out of ten. It is good.
