Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows [EOL] Initial Setup

It was complex for us as we have distributed servers for backup. It took around 10 to 15 minutes for the preconfigured setup. There are six administrators for the solution.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward and simple. You just click and install the Veeam agent on the client.

While it is on-premises, I just install it on the cloud. I have many servers on AWS or Azure. Actually, I was recently working on a multi-cloud environment. They had desk solutions or multi-cloud environments in the organization, and I deployed the Veeam agent on AWS and Azure as well. The working criteria are fabulous. Veeam is working very well on this type of agent.

The deployment is fast. In one click, it is installed.

The initial setup is quite simple and straightforward. We have good documentation on the website, which makes it easy.

The deployment took less than one day. We just followed the steps and created a proxy for the VM. We did the setup a while ago.

We have four people who are able to handle maintenance tasks.

The difficulty of each deployment depends on which version. They have improved the latest version, however, before, on Version 4, while the installation was straightforward, the problem was that it had a prerequisite requirement, which is the development framework on 4.7.2. This framework is not usually installed on all Windows operating systems. The problem is that it is free, and you can download it at any time and install it, however, it will require the service to be restarted and that means planned downtime.

Fortunately, they fixed that with Version 5. They changed the framework dependency to 4.5.2. so that there is no more forced downtime.

The time it takes to deploy relies on various factors, however, assuming the prerequisites are all ready, it takes about 15 minutes.

The initial setup is very straightforward. In the newest versions, they have open-scale as well. It's very user-friendly.

I was able to deploy it in less than one hour.

I have to handle the prerequisite from the customer side, and then I have to ensure all the hypervisor versions are matching with the Veeam version. That might take some time; however, usually, everything goes fast.

With regards to the setup, the big issue there is you do need the latest version of .NET. If you want to install it on an older kind of machine. It doesn't really support all of that. It means you need to do system updates, all of those kinds of things, just before you can even install .NET, and it can become quite a headache to get it up and running initially.

To deploy it on a network can be quite tricky, and that's why most people would rather use Backup and Replication and deploy it through there instead of deploying it one by one. That's basically what you need to do with this. You need to go to a machine, install it, go to the next machine, and install it. Unless you try and push the installation through your active directly, which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. There are also issues with that as well.

The installation is not the simplest. We've had issues and had to redeploy our client's VMs.

The initial setup is very easy. The problems start when you run into errors.

The ease of setup, without issues, is ten out of ten.

The deployment takes several hours. We had one person on our side and one person on the customer side to handle the deployment. Only one person is needed for maintenance.

The initial setup is straightforward. Our deployment was completed in about two hours, during which we even tested out different policies to ensure that it was working properly.

Because only one solution can use our tape library, we had to break it up into zones where NetBackup uses one half and Veeam uses the other. Aside from this, our setup was straightforward.

The deployment method is normally on-premises.

For the most part, the setup is straightforward, depending on the solution that we implement for the customer. The complexities would depend on the customization.

The deployment time varies depending on the difficulties after implementation. A day after the implementation you have to do some fine-tuning activities. The tuning activities depend on the project. Sometimes you can implement and leave it with the customer as it is, whereas at other times it requires more tuning activities. When that happens you can expect that it will take days.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward. We have a few Microsoft 2016 servers we are using, so it's basically installed on that. We used an integrator for the deployment. We have four people from my IT department using this solution. Most are involved with the main database segment and backup recovery. We may increase usage in the future but not right now.
