We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We did not need technical support because the documentation is good.""Tech support is super-quick to respond, and always on target with answers specific to the current issue.""The technical support has been, in one word, perfect. Every time I call, I’m on the phone with a representative within five minutes who is highly skilled and willing to help, whether in the case of critical issues or simple advice.""The ability to handle a sequence of front- and back-ends gives the user the opportunity to send traffic through different services.""I estimate that this product has saved our company hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in possible downtime from previous load balancers. We make a lot of our money from online sales, so it is critical to have 99.9% uptime.""HAProxy potentially has a good return on investment""Advanced traffic rules, including stick tables and ACLs, which allow me to shape traffic while it's load balanced.""Load balancing is valuable, and we are also using the WAF feature."

"The most beneficial function of using the ADC is to ensure this resiliency.""When you configure the listening services, you can implement a lot of security features like the Edge Security Pack that intercepts the requests and processes those before they are sent to the real servers.""I like the way this solution handles multiple SSLs in different domains while still load balancing.""The base feature of Kemp LoadMaster load balancing ticks all the boxes but the most valuable features would be the security features Intrusion Prevention (IPS) and Web Application Firewall (WAF).""The user interface is very easy to work with.""When the templates are used, there is not much left to configure and they just work!""The most valuable feature is the load balancing and allowing for high availability of our web services.""Managing and maintaining multiple servers is done in a single place."

More Kemp LoadMaster Pros →

"The load balancers have an easy installation and a relatively simple, easy user interface to use.""The support we have received from Loadbalancer.org has been good.""It's pretty much a Swiss Army knife for managing all the load balancing techniques.""The user interface precludes need to be well versed with Linux IPVS command line. This make it easy for junior team members to participate in managing load balancing needs.""The connection that this solution helps our servers maintain has been most useful.""It does what it’s supposed to do which is balancing an important intranet site we are using, so if one server dies, the second becomes active straight away.""Loadbalancer is easy to use. It performs well, with low latency.""We now get notifications when pool members go down, and we eliminate our downtime by not sending traffic to downed pool members."

Cons
"Improving the documentation with multiple examples and scenarios would be beneficial. Most users encounter similar situations, so having a variety of scenarios readily available on the tool's website would be helpful. For instance, if I were part of the HAProxy team, I'd create a webpage with different scenarios and provide files for each scenario. This way, users wouldn't have to start from scratch every time.""While troubleshooting, we are having some difficulties. There are no issues when it is running; it is stable and very good; however, if there is a troubleshooting issue or an incident occurs, we will have issues because this is open-source.""They should introduce one feature that I know many people, including me, are waiting for: HAProxy should have provide hot-swipe for back-end servers. Also, they need a more detailed GUI for monitoring and configuration.""HAProxy could do with some good combination integrations.""There are three main areas to improve: 1) Make remote management more modern by adding API. 2) Propose a general HA solution for HAProxy (no I'm using keepalived for this). 3) Thread option should be a bit more stable.""The reconfigurability in terms of the tooling could be improved and maybe an editor plugin can be added.""HAProxy is very weak in the logging and monitoring part and requires improvement.""Maybe HAProxy could be more modular."

More HAProxy Cons →

"The product is really good as-is out of the box. If there is one thing I would change is to have the license file not be coupled with the MAC address of the device. This is actually not really useful in a virtual environment where if you have a single VM with KEMP LoadMaster and you have not set up static MAC Address, if you, for example, recreate the VM and just load the disk file on a new VM it will get new MAC address and the NLB will not work as it will not see a proper license.""Although Kemp is very user-friendly, it lacks a more custom configuration.""If there is anything that needs to be updated, the GUI can get a refresh to make it look more like 2020, although it is just a cosmetic change.""UI is very basic and unattractive.""Several elements of the GUI need work. For example, if you have many content switches, it’s difficult to find the ones you need. And where is the search feature?""It would be nice if the historical metrics were easily exportable from the interface.""To make it a perfect ten out of ten it would need better connection logging. If there is an active connection, that there is better logging. It should also have better management monitoring tools.""The only thing that I miss is that the TMG server was giving me live information about who is connected and what is the request about."

More Kemp LoadMaster Cons →

"The configuration is somewhat complicated. Someone who does not know the solution may find this challenging.""You can run into an issue when one engineer passes the case over to another engineer after their shift and they don't know what the first engineer worked on up to that point.""I'd like to see scalability improved; it can be costly.""Possibly a more graphical overview page (with colors) to give a two second overview to see if everything is working fine.""I would like a notification when a new version of the software is available. They told me to sign up for their newsletter, but I have not received any notification for a newer software version.""The automatic refresh of the System Overview webpage: It sometimes has an extra webpage reload (after a change) before you see it is executed. This can be confusing.""If I have to say something, I suppose they could add an automated configuration backup to an FTP location (or something similar) so you don’t have to manually do it. I don’t see this as a problem, of course, as the configuration rarely changes and we only need one backup, but maybe for other users that feature would be handy.""The configuration is somewhat complicated. Someone who does not know the solution may find this challenging."

    Reviews from Real Users

Having the right load balancing solution – which is what HAProxy is – and protection in place gives organizations peace of mind.” - Nathanel S., Platform Architect at SES

“I use HAProxy for individuals who can not buy low balancers. I built NFV in a box and send individuals a pathway into an HAProxy VM. The setup was not difficult; it usually takes a day to complete for a VPC. When it comes to pricing, HAProxy is free.” - Nasir O., Network & Cloud Architect at Koala Compute Inc.

Kemp LoadMaster is a powerful load balancing solution that also serves as a web application firewall. Its primary use case is load balancing and application load balancing, making it an ideal solution for organizations that must distribute traffic across multiple servers. Kemp's integration with an active directory for ESP usage, hosting/deployment of SSL certificates, and pricing are some of its most valuable features.

Using Kemp has helped organizations mitigate cross-scripting vulnerabilities, cookie-related issues, and content security policy issues. It has also allowed them to handle everything with Kemp instead of working on each application individually.

Loadbalancer.org is a versatile solution that offers load balancing for small businesses, multiple instances of applications, web application firewall, publishing Windows and SQL applications, and security for telephone service systems. It is easy to use, cost-effective, and performs well with low latency.

Loadbalancer.org has helped organizations reduce the impact of connection issues, provide security, and ensure no downtime or impact on productivity.

    Reviews from Real Users

“Loadbalancer.org is less complex than Citrix. In some cases, our customers do not have an engineer on staff who can support this device. These customers have a large number of Linux engineers but don't have the money. We suggested using Loadbalancer.org and other open-source tools. Many customers are of different sizes and have different budgets. Loadbalancer.org has everything that is needed.” - Artem M., System Engineer at CROC

“We use Loadbalancer for balancing loads in our main application. Loadbalancer is easy to use. It performs well, with low latency.” - Walid M., Network and Security Engineer at a logistics company
