Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The best feature is the customization.""Its user-friendly interface makes it straightforward to operate, offering a plethora of features for data preparation, buffering, and format conversion.""The solution's UI allows me to collect all the information and see the code lines.""Every feature in Apache Airflow is valuable. The number of operators and features I've used are mainly related to connectivity services and integrated services because I primarily work with GCP.""The solution is quite configurable so it is easy to code within a configuration kind of environment.""The user interface for monitoring and managing workflows has been excellent, particularly in the latest version. c""The product is stable.""One of its most valuable features is the graphical user interface, providing a visual representation of the pipeline status, successes, failures, and informative developer messages."

"Bizagi is a very useful tool because it does not require you to program. The user logic is very easy to understand even for people who are not engineers or developers.""The approval process is simple.""Agility is most valuable because we can develop so much faster than other tools. We can make requirements, develop, and go out to production much faster. So, agility in the software cycle is most valuable.""The user logic is very easy to understand, even for people who are not engineers nor developers.""It automates a completely manual, complicated process.""Great mapping feature that's easy to use.""The documentation capabilities are very good. Very structured documents and process versions are valuable features, and being able to communicate that to our customers is also a very good feature. It has a good balance between the effort and the result. So, you don't need to be too detailed. You can document while you are modeling, which is a very good feature.""The product enables the users to automate the processes and provides a good user experience."

"The BPMN diagram is valuable. For our use case of transferring money from one account to another, the connections have to be done in the traditional financial ways. There are a lot of unexpected errors and a lot of instability with this kind of system, and we are using Camunda in order to have clear flows. With BPMN, I can show a flow to my business partner, and the business team can easily understand what's going on. The technical team can understand what the implementation is, and we can model different errors and the process for recovering from these errors.""I love that Camunda is a very developer-friendly platform, and my customers have evaluated the pricing as reasonable.""It's user friendly, much better than most tools I have seen."", Camunda can be a powerful tool to work with when used in an optimized and well-implemented manner.""The modeler is useful for creating the flow. The way to access the data through their REST API is also valuable. This is what we're using right now.""The number of client implementations and cross-language capabilities to support multiple frameworks is very pluggable compared to Pega. It's also more portable.""The most valuable feature is the scheduling.""It is an absolutely stable solution."

Cons
"The dashboard is connected into the BPM flow that could be improved.""The dashboards could be enhanced.""The platform's stability needs improvement, particularly regarding occasional interruptions due to networking issues.""It would be beneficial to improve the pricing structure.""There is a need for more features on experimental evolution steps.""Apache Airflow should have better integration with cloud platforms.""There is an area for improvement in onboarding new people. They should make it simple for newcomers. Else, we have to put a senior engineer to operate it.""I want to see Apache Airflow have more integrations with more production-based databases since it is an area where the product lacks currently."

More Apache Airflow Cons →

"Its price can be improved. The price is high for the application as well as for maintaining and developing applications. When you develop, for example, a BPM, you need to pay a lot for Bizagi.""Agriculture, Industry.""The product must make automation easier.""The product used to have a simulation feature, which I had used quite often. However, it's since been discontinued. It might have originally been a paid feature. It would be nice if they could bring it back and offer it for free.""It works slowly on the cloud, sometimes.""One thing that I don't like very much is related to integration: we have to develop some connectors... I would need a connector that connects to a REST service and that uses client ID in secret... They provide the means to develop a connector and use it, but they should implement this because REST services are among the most used protocols for web services.""Bizagi doesn't have integrations with other solutions, such as ERP systems. In the industry and your company, you have a lot of systems with which you need to integrate, but Bizagi doesn't have such integrations, which makes it very difficult. Its scalability can also be improved. It is good for a startup, but when you need something more complex, it is not good.""It would be helpful if they added some extra features in the next update."

More Bizagi Cons →

"If they could build some scripts or some configuration to get it up and running in a Docker environment, that would be good. I didn't find anything when on Docker, however, maybe they have something and I didn't see it yet.""I'm from the .NET world and I would like to use it, rather than Java.""An improvement would be to support Angular 2 instead of AngularJS, which is quite old.""Documentation can be improved.""Especially when you use the open-source version, there are issues with performance.""The documentation could use improvement.""The migration strategy needs to be improved.""Like all BPM tools, they're very bad with proprietary UIs. In general, anyone who uses BPM tools should not expect to use their proprietary UI."

    Overview

Apache Airflow is an open-source workflow management system (WMS) that is primarily used to programmatically author, orchestrate, schedule, and monitor data pipelines as well as workflows. The solution makes it possible for you to manage your data pipelines by authoring workflows as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) of tasks. By using Apache Airflow, you can orchestrate data pipelines over object stores and data warehouses, run workflows that are not data-related, and can also create and manage scripted data pipelines as code (Python).

    Apache Airflow Features

Apache Airflow has many valuable key features. Some of the most useful ones include:

    • Smart sensor: In Apache Airflow, tasks are executed sequentially. The smart sensors are executed in bundles, and therefore consume fewer resources.
    • Dockerfile: By using Apache Airflow’s dockerfile feature, you can run your business’s Airflow code without having to document and automate the process of running Airflow on a server.
    • Scalability: Because Apache Airflow has a modular architecture and uses a message queue to orchestrate an arbitrary number of workers, you can easily scale it.
    • Plug-and-play operators: With Apache Airflow, you can choose from several plug-and-play operators that are ready to execute your tasks on many third-party services.

    Apache Airflow Benefits

There are many benefits to implementing Apache Airflow. Some of the biggest advantages the solution offers include:

    • User friendly: Using Apache Airflow requires minimal python knowledge to get started.
    • Intuitive user interface: The Apache Airflow user interface enables you to visualize pipelines running in production, monitor progress, and also troubleshoot issues when needed.
    • Easy integration: Apache Airflow can easily be integrated with cloud platforms (Google, AWS, Azure, etc).
    • Visual DAGs: Apache Airflow’s visual DAGs provide data lineage, which facilitates debugging of data flows and also aids in auditing and data governance.
    • Flexibility: Apache Airflow provides you with several ways to make DAG objects more flexible. At runtime, a context variable is passed to each workflow execution, which is quickly incorporated into an SQL statement that includes the run ID, execution date, and last and next run times.
    • Multiple deployment options: With Apache Airflow, you have several options for deployment, including self-service, open source, or a managed service.
    • Several data source connections: Apache Airflow can connect to a variety of data sources, including APIs, databases, data warehouses, and more.

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Apache Airflow solution.

A Senior Solutions Architect/Software Architect says, “The product integrates well with other pipelines and solutions. The ease of building different processes is very valuable to us. The difference between Kafka and Airflow, is that it's better for dealing with the specific flows that we want to do some transformation. It's very easy to create flows.”

An Assistant Manager at a comms service provider mentions, “The best part of Airflow is its direct support for Python, especially because Python is so important for data science, engineering, and design. This makes the programmatic aspect of our work easy for us, and it means we can automate a lot.”

A Senior Software Engineer at a pharma/biotech company comments that he likes Apache Airflow because it is “Feature rich, open-source, and good for building data pipelines.”
