Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"Straightforward to integrate and automate.""Datadog has given us near-live visibility across our entire cloud platform.""This is definitely a good product and I would consider them one of the leaders within the application monitoring and cloud monitoring space.""The most valuable features are the dashboards and the reporting.""The most valuable feature is the dashboards that are provided out of the box, as well as ones we were able to configure.""The visibility that it provides is valuable. It is helping in being proactive around incident management. It is helping us to be able to get more visibility into our customers' applications so that we can assist them at the application layer. We also provide them the infrastructure from an AWS standpoint. We are able to make sure that our customers are aware of certain critical things around the analytical piece of either the network or the application. We're able to call customers before they even know about the issue. From there, we can start putting together some change management processes and help them a bit.""Having a clear view, not only of our infrastructure but our apps and services as well, has brought a great added value to our customers.""Its logs are most valuable."

Cons
"Its pricing model can be improved. Its settings should be improved for a better understanding of billing. They should also provide some alerts when there is an increase in the usage. For example, if there is 20% more increase from one week to another, the customer should get an alert.""Once agents are connected to the Datadog portal, we should be able to upgrade them quickly.""Could be a little more user friendly.""I'd like to see better pricing and more integration in the next release.""More pre-configured "Monitor Alerts" would be helpful.""The Log Explorer could be better. I don't think it has log manipulation as Splunk does.""I'm still exploring the trial version, and it is fine. One thing that I haven't been able to figure out is how to retrieve a report. This is something that could be improved. I probably need to navigate to a place to access the reports.""It can have an artificial intelligence component. Even though I can seamlessly look at end-to-end security, it would be better to have alerts and notifications powered by an AI engine. I am not sure if they have an AI component. We have not reached out to them or looked at it, but this is something that I keep on talking about within our company in terms of features. Such a feature would be good to have, and it would further optimize my Security Ops team's abilities."

"The solution does not provide input on how the page performs in a big group. It just says that the page performance is bad, but it does not say what can be done to improve it. If they could provide some insight or guidance on how to make improvements, that would be a big help.""It would help customers if there were an on-premises version available."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"If you do your homework, you'll find that if you're really concerned with cost, it's good.""It has a module-based pricing model.""It didn't scale well from the cost perspective. We had a custom package deal.""Datadog does not provide any free plans to use the solution. When I start with a proof of concept it would be sensible to have a free plan to test the tool and check whether it fits the requirements of the project. Before the production stage, it is always good to have a free plan with some limited features, number of requests, or logs.""My advice is to really keep an eye on your overage costs, as they can spiral really fast.""Our licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis.""It is easy to run up a large bill, so become familiar with the cost of each piece of your bill and use the metrics they supply to estimate and monitor your bill.""The price is better than some competing products."

"This is an expensive product.""The solution is quite expensive. It costs around $5,000 a month. There aren't any additional costs above that."

Overview
Datadog is a monitoring service for IT, Dev and Ops teams who write and run applications at scale, and want to turn the massive amounts of data produced by their apps, tools and services into actionable insight.
New Relic Browser provides deep visibility and actionable insights into real users' experiences on your website. With standard page load timing (sometimes referred to as real user monitoring or RUM), New Relic measures the overall time to load the entire webpage. However, New Relic Browser goes beyond RUM to also help you monitor the performance of individual sessions, AJAX requests, and JavaScript errors extending the monitoring throughout the entire life cycle of the page.
