With the Agentless monitoring and ability to create custom plugins, we've been able to transform the tool not just into a great APM solution but a really good enterprise monitoring solution too.Dynatrace helped us with root cause analysis of poor performing components of our applications.The product allows us to build preferred/customized business transactions to track complex transactions. UEM (User Experience Monitoring) agents track user experience on webRequests. The advantage is that Dynatrace correlates the measures on the devices with those on the backend servers, giving us an end-to-end view of the transaction, from the user's phone deep into the backend servers.It has helped us improve the performance of many of our applications.With the latest version, the AI engine highlights the root causes automatically.The major improvement was the ability to find errors immediately and predict future failures, or when resources reach the maximum capacity.The most valuable feature is the ability to perform synthetic checks for monitoring sites using click paths.Dynatrace helped us to get a better understanding of how our services are communicating with each other, as well as better problem detection before something really breaks

The most valuable feature of New Relic APM is the dashboard, New Relic Insights. I configured my own dashboard to monitor certain parameters.As soon as it monitors all our systems and is integrated with PagerDuty, the operations team just needs to wait for alerts on their cellphones to fix things.They have baseline level alerting.We detect issues using dashboards that we built on New Relic.Every time there is a crisis, high traffic, or if we see a problem with a server, we go to New Relic and monitor it to determine the cause.The deep insights, which will give you the metrics (not a high level), so we can build out at the database level where the bottleneck is. This has been pretty helpful.New Relic has helped us in terms of the optimizing our print and loading times.It is a software solution as a service, so I don't have to manage it on-premise.

This solution could be improved with better compatibility with legacy applications.It would be nice if there were a way that it could be made simpler, given the complexity of the things that we're monitoring.This solution needs better support for security and monolithic batch processes.If the user interface were made more intuitive then it would really benefit the product.Sometimes it is hard to find the right setting for what you want to change.This solution needs improvement in terms of automation.We would like the AI to produce more scientific data with less configuration.The reporting is still too young and needs to be improved.

I would like to see the company implement the AI auto-baseline feature which Dynatrace has.I would like if it could have predictive analysis. Today, we only have the option to configure thresholds.I would like an infrastructure network that provides real-time views, showing the issues.Compared to their competitors, they are missing some features at the moment.The APIs could be better. I would also like more APIs and features to integrate with streaming solutions, like Kinesis or Kafka.I would like to be able to invest less time in IT and ad hocs. We should be concentrating on other issues.I would like to have storage monitoring. E.g., being able to monitor SANS, specifically protocols, like NFS and CIFS metrics.The integration and configuration of this product in our AWS environment needs improvement on the filtering part. I would like it to go more granular on accounts.

Pricing and Cost Advice
Our annual costs were about the same for both AppDynamics and Dynatrace.Pricing can be high, especially for Portuguese standards. But as one says, you get what you pay for.Setup cost is very low considering that it is an almost totally, automatic process.Licensing is very interesting, as you pay only for what is being monitored. A lot of things are given away for no additional cost. If you have a great IT consolidation, it will be pretty cheap. If you have a lot of servers, it will be heavier.I have not been able to observe more than 1% overhead, despite Dynatrace saying that it can be slightly higher in some situations.Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace is excellent.The pricing and licensing are very expensive.Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was a pretty straightforward process. We had no hiccups.

Pricing is better with New Relic APM than Dynatrace.The new licensing model is great, as we pay for what we use (in computational units). However, the pricing is expensive compared to other tools.The detection piece of it brings us a big return on investment.The pricing could be better. We did not purchase the full version. Maybe if we applied all the other features of the full version of New Relic, we could get all the features that we feel are missing.Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was easy. The product is easy to deploy and manage, which is why our company purchased through the AWS Marketplace.The pricing model is a little confusing for beginners. They find it a little expensive, and if you are using it already, then that is not good.The pricing is okay comparatively their competitors. The only concern was whether it should be purchased on demand or bring your own license, and which way passes some savings onto the end customers.We deploy everything on AWS. Purchasing the product on AWS Marketplace made it easier for us.

“Hands down” it would be Dynatrace. I did a POC, business case for it and used it for 7 years, both APM and One Agent (this last one was only a few months).
The biggest advantages to Dynatrace “One Agent”:
1. Agentless, i.e., do not have to configure startup processes, e.g., JVM args.
2. Automatically discovers your integration touchpoints out-of-the-box.
3. Can do root cause analysis down to the line of code in minutes.
4. Excellent integration to familiar perf test tools for easy correlation of APM data to Script steps.
