Great for visibility but lacks many features and difficult to update

Pros and Cons

  • "As an Administrator, before we bought this AppInternals, I didn't have visibility on why items were slow or why an application was not running. This gives us the ability to see what's going on. The application is load balancing. We can now see if its own server has issues or just one specific server has issues."
  • "It would be great if the solution could offer fixed bundles and more features."

What other advice do I have?

We're customers. We don't have a special relationship with the company. I am the operation's application administrator. At the moment, the solution is monitoring the applications that we want it to monitor. We're not looking at it on a daily basis. We just use it here and there. The challenge we have is that we believe that Dynatrace can address some tasks we'd like done that are not possible to execute on this solution. Dynatrace includes monitoring of not just the logs, but the applications as well. Dynatrace also makes us include firewalls, etc. We could have it so there are end to end…

While this is still a good solution for database monitoring it has fallen from its place as a leader in the field

What is our primary use case?

The primary use we have for this product is application performance monitoring for mission-critical applications. We are a reseller.

Pros and Cons

  • "The product is stable and the technical support is good."
  • "The product lost its place as an industry leader."
  • "The setup, implementation and use are clumsy and need to be refined."

What other advice do I have?

As advice to people considering the solution, I would tell them to scope it out really well and to do a lot of research on their intended application and their business use cases. There may be another, better solution available for their needs. On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate this product as a seven. I would rate them at a seven because they definitely have a better product than several other products on the market, they have good functionality, and I think they are fairly affordable. The reason I would not rate them higher is because there…

Offers a service to monitor each and every specific feature in a server

What is our primary use case?

We are using the latest version of ManageEngine Applications Manager. We recently updated it. We are monitoring the performance of the GMR service using the Application Manager. We can collect the JVM parameters and that helps us to analyze the heat memory without even going into the missions or the servers. We can also monitor what other processes are running and check which one is occupying more memory. And we can also set the alarms, automatic alarms like email alerts, if something crosses a threshold. We monitor 1200 users and 25 servers with the Applications Manager.

Pros and Cons

  • "ManageEngine Applications Manager maintains the historical data and it's easy for us to analyze the trends and patterns and fix them accordingly."
  • "They could probably rearrange the UI so that it would be easy for people who are new to the Application Manager to configure things."

What other advice do I have?

I would rate ManageEngine Applications Manager a nine out of ten.

An expensive product with an old design that needs to be more lightweight

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is application monitoring.

Pros and Cons

  • "The technical support is good at resolving issues."
  • "When we want to monitor our encrypted traffic, this product doesn't work because our cipher is not supported."

What other advice do I have?

I have to say that I am very disappointed with this solution. It's very heavy, and it is a nightmare to deploy and maintain. Compared to all of the other solutions, Micro Focus is out of date. In summary, the design is very, very old and it is not the future for us. If you have an old-fashioned infrastructure with data center servers then this is a good solution for you. You can deploy RUM, connect it to the switch, configure the switch, and it works well. However, if you are a modern company and want to monitor cloud services, it is really hard to do. Essentially, it is not the right solution…

Reduced our migration time and downtime

What is our primary use case?

We use Skylight to monitor the performance of our network on different sites. We also use it to troubleshoot if there is an issue on the network/standard and the end user experience is good. Recently, we used Skylight to monitor the amount of external user VPNs. With COVID-19, we have many people who work at home. We used Skylight to count the number of users and monitor the Internet line to see if there was a point of saturation. It is mostly deployed on-premise with some services in the cloud.

Pros and Cons

  • "The solution’s UI and single pane of glass is good. The new dashboard is modern with its new design. The look of it is not pretty, but it is efficient, which is good. It is user-friendly; you can find what you need on the interface quickly."
  • "It needs the possibility to export data because it is not easy to see larger data sets, e.g., for one month. It would be interesting to export data into a PDF or dashboard to keep a history of the situation."

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution as an eight (out of 10). If they add exporting data to PDF, I could made the rating a 10.
