If you do not have a central dashboard, there's a chance you might set a policy on one firewall and forget to do it for another.""The reports feature is excellent.""I appreciate the ability to connect via SSH through Fortinet FortiManager to the FortiGates I manage. This feature allows me to gather information about the interfaces without having to physically connect to the device. This is a convenient aspect that I find valuable.""The most valuable feature is the central configuration for firewall policies.""Stability is good within the product."

Cons
"The GUI is not ideal.""The presence of Fortinet in our region (Nigeria) needs to be stronger.""If you have more than one FortiMail device, you can't manage it then with FortiManager on FortiGate.""The compatibility with legacy products should be better. It would also be nice if the software could manage other devices from Fortinet and third parties.""This solution needs more experienced technical support staff. There's nothing special about it compared to other vendors.""The dashboard could use some improvement.""Troubleshooting for Fortinet products is more difficult than competing products like Cisco and Palo Alto.""There is a degradation of performance if we activate logs on FortiManager."

They could update it a bit.""The documentation gets a bit messy between versions and is not too detailed, which is a bit painful for first-timers, especially when they run into issues.""Sometimes, the documentation is a little bit written in Estonia – a country in Europe. The language barrier and translation to English can sometimes make it difficult to understand what they're trying to get at. It's just a language thing.""In terms of user-friendliness, large maps could be more interactive. We should be able to click on some areas and move some objects. It would make it simpler to see things while analyzing some dedicated parameters.""The user web interface is a little bit too basic, we need to link Zabbix to Grafana to have more options, such as graphs and charts. The interface needs to be improved. Additionally, there could be better integration with Grafana API.""Zabbix technical support is sold separately.""The solution needs to add features for finding loopholes or problems and their root causes."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
