Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is stable and scalable.""Support for plug-ins (RMQ, Redis etc.) is a valuable feature.""It has a simple initial setup.""Their technical support is pretty good and responsive. We have a real good relationship with them.""We detect issues using dashboards that we built on New Relic.""The solution is good for sending alerts, drawing graphs about system usage, and creating plug-ins.""There are many valuable features in New Relic APM. We developed some software applications and we are able to monitor the errors very easily. Their log security retention is very good.""We like the performance of the product."

"Flexible dashboard with the availability of widgets.""We haven't faced any stability issues. There hasn't been any crashes or glitches.""The Performance Manager provides great insight into our systems' performance.""The integration with the ticketing tool makes sure that there is a record for every issue.""You can create an application topology that shows relationships between different components.""From our monitoring perspective or from a visibility perspective, HPE UCMDB is a must have. It's an amazing piece of software.""The event correlation is the most valuable aspect of the solution.""It is stable."

Cons
"There are times when you restart the engines and the servers have a unique ID for the host and you need to remove the server. It is difficult because some are on-premise and others are production hosts. Having downtime is not very good when updating. However, it is not a constant issue.""The price could improve.""The older view is much better than the new view that they have. We'd like to go back to that previous version. The user interface just isn't as nice as it used to be.""Data Dog captures the entire session and then provides it as a video player path, which gives more insight into what the user was doing. It's pretty impressive. New Relic does that, yet it only captures using a couple of screenshots, which is not very detailed since you are unable to see the entire user flow.""The solution needs to have staging.""It is complicated, especially in how you interpret the data that it provides. If it had a bit more canned, out-of-the-box features, especially some of the reporting features, that would be more useful.""The solution is quite expensive.""I haven't come across any features that are lacking."

More New Relic Cons →

"The price is quite expensive, and because of this, we may try another solution.""It is a very complicated product. It's difficult to manage. Nowadays, products are very easy to manage, deploy, and integrate, but Operations Bridge is very complicated to manage.""Our issues are largely support related due to where we are and the knowledge base that we have here. This issue relates both HPE in general and to the technical products.""The service takes a very long time to start and it requires a lot of resources.""pology-based event correlation does not work well with NNM events.""Reporting has to be tackled a bit more. Conceptually, it is there and conceptually it is amazing, but somehow the module itself is suffering.""The pricing could be improved.""The deployment of agents on new CI should be improved. There should be some kind of automation to directly deploy them from the console. It can maybe have some more AI functions because most of the other tools are going in that direction."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "New Relic is either free with low retention and minimal functionalities, or expensive with full options and retention."
  • "The monthly cost os $1000 per server per month, but it could be even more. We pay about $250 for the server, and then New Relic wants over $1000 to give us statistics on those servers."
  • "Cost is significant with a lot of extras."
  • "It would be nice if we could buy it annually instead of monthly."
  • "If it’s the right tool, it doesn’t matter what it costs because you’re going to get it back many-fold from your productivity."
  • "I recommend using the free version of New Relic. If you like the free version and understand its importance for your company, you can move to the trial. Then, you can migrate to the paid version."
  • "There is a picture which goes to your browser and it monitors requests from other users. However, it's impossible to use now because the price is very high. The feature is very nice, but I tried it during the trial period, and the current price makes it impossible to use."
  • "They gave us aggressive discounts when they were brought in for the first time, but they have also kept them for the year-on-year renewals, which has been absolutely fine."

  • "Setup costs can be high depending on the partner, but it is worth it."
  • "It is competitive."
  • "Pricing is very flexible and depends on the modules selected as per the requirement."
  • "The licensing cost for this solution is approximately $1,000 USD."
  • "The cost is very high."
  • "As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
  • "The licensing model for Micro Focus Operations Bridge is unit-based so it can be one device or ten devices depending on your situation or model. Cost-wise, it's much more if you have more devices and features such as infrastructure monitoring, analytic dashboard, and business dashboard in your model."
