Pros
"We can manage the entire system across the network and troubleshoot the pain points."

"The product's most valuable feature is network analysis.""The product is easy to use and you don't need to have any training. You can use it even if you don't have an IT background.""The product is easy to understand.""If an event is detected, such as a resource running low on storage or RAM, the product will notify you via email. Upon receiving the notification, action must be taken to address and resolve the issue. The feature I find most effective is its comprehensive nature. It's like having a permanent eye monitoring the network and all its nodes. Instead of manual monitoring, it detects anomalies automatically and alerts us accordingly.""It provides a vast array of options for dashboard creation and monitoring of the activities within the environment."

More PRTG Enterprise Monitor Pros →

"The most valuable feature of PRTG Network Monitor is the dashboards. We can check to see the resources and the uptime.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""What I've found most valuable is the custom sensor, which allows you to write scripts or code to monitor a specific metric in your environment.""The initial setup is very simple.""The solution is scalable.""The authentication links into our standard Active Directory authentication, which is very good.""The feature I like is that it can easily do a lot of mapping.""PRTG Network Monitor helps us quickly and easily discover a large number of sensors, so we can spend minimal time monitoring customer sites."

Cons
"The Wi-Fi side needs improvement."

More Juniper Mist Premium Analytics Cons →

"PRTG Enterprise Monitor should include more functionalities and features that are similar to SolarWinds.""There could be more security features included in PRTG Enterprise Monitor.""They should work on minimizing false positives by sending alerts promptly and confirming errors with minimal troubleshooting requirements.""The support must be improved.""In my opinion, one area that could be improved in PRTG Enterprise Monitor is the capability to send SMS notifications. Notifications are crucial for alerting us to areas that require attention."

More PRTG Enterprise Monitor Cons →

"PRTG does not allow us to scan devices like we can scan software or another problem in it. Also, I cannot draw graphical graphs in Woodview/look. Another problem is that we cannot draw a good diagram in PRTG.""In a very few cases, customers want more detailed reports, which we cannot meet.""When using PRTG Network Monitor it is beneficial if you have prior experience with it, the user interface could improve.""I would like to see them take their graphing tools and convert them into a collector so that we can point telemetry to them""We need something that is more predictive. We would prefer if it wasn't a solution that was corrective and instead offered predictive insights so that we can handle problems before they even occur.""A room for improvement in PRTG Network Monitor is its sensors. Its application technology sensor, such as the IAS, .NET, etc., needs some improvement because it doesn't work as expected. For example, the IAS sensor doesn't give immediate information, and the information you get from it isn't of good value. The web GUI of PRTG Network Monitor also needs improvement because errors keep popping up if it's not been updated to the latest version. What I'd like to see in the next release of the tool is end-to-end topology mapping for the business model, and that should be required. There has to be a technical map. Technical mapping and topological creation are missing in PRTG Network Monitor, so I would like to see those in the future.""This solution is a good product so far, but I haven't been using it long enough to know how it could be improved.""Other monitoring tools that I have used are easier to use."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
