Informatica Cloud Data Integration Scalability

Fernando Santos - PeerSpot reviewer
Delivery Manager at Softtek

It is very easy to scale the Informatica platform. I have never seen another platform that is so easy to implement. For example, my organization in Brazil uses the Informatica platform to integrate some systems with its data warehouse. In parallel, IBM developed their own solution, which we developed in parallel with their technology and implementation velocity. IBM is confusing to configure and slow to implement. With Informatica, it is easy to configure and fast to implement. There is no wasted time with the particularities involved for each solution.

I give the solution a ten out of ten for scalability.

The solution can be easily scaled up since we just need to take the aid of some PIM processor and increase the data volume as per what we want.

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

The scalability of Informatica Cloud Data Integration is high. With advanced pushdown optimization, it performs well in various environments like Snowflake and AWS. It is suitable for companies of all sizes; for small to medium enterprises, starting with fewer IPUs is cost-effective, and scalability allows for growth as needed.

There is a slowdown when using the mapping feature. This may be due to the processor's speed or may be a result of the complexity of the browser.

Normally, I wouldn't offer Informatica for small clients - small or medium enterprises. It's an enterprise-grade solution. We are talking about many, many users.

This is not a traditional cloud like AWS and Azure, which offer virtual machines, data storage, and compute power. With Informatica cloud, this is not the offering. You need to understand the offering. They are offering a data integration service. The scalability context here would be from the services aspect. If you want to have more data integration, you can do it instantly the way you want. You will be charged if it is beyond your subscription. They also have data quality and all the data management tools.

We've just completed the first part of the implementation. In the upcoming months we plan to carry out multiple implementations and then we might see some challenges in the scalability. I think it will be fine. I have about 35 users in my team - around 40% are developers, 30% are testers and QAs and then a few are designers, data modelers, and architects.
