We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"HCL Domino is the best product from a security point of view.""They offer good support and provide a roadmap.""The full-text searching capabilities are great.""It is an excellent solution.""Domino's dual functionality as both a messaging and application solution is a standout feature compared to Exchange, which solely focuses on messaging.""The most valuable features of the solution are security and integration.""The pricing is excellent.""We have been able to set up a portal using a special XPage application that gives our customers access to this system."

"I find the desktop version of Microsoft Exchange looks better than the online version. You can make it a white background. You might be able to make the online background white, but I have no idea how to do that. I know how to do it only on the desktop version""Exchange is easy to use. It also has a built-in calendar for all the stuff I'm supposed to be looking at and doing. Exchange tells you if you have a doctor's appointment or a scheduled call. It also has a place to store and manage your contacts. If I want to add a new contact, it will put in information about that contact stored anywhere within the Microsoft Suite.""The best features are that Exchange is very customer-friendly, its interface is self-explanatory, it doesn't hang, and it keeps evolving.""The technical support is fine.""The search tools are good.""It is easy to set up.""The product can scale.""It is a very stable tool...It is a very scalable tool."

Cons
"The product's user interface is one of its shortcomings since it is outdated, making it an area for improvement.""An area for improvement in HCL Domino is security. New enhancements in the IT industry mean that security should be improved. The HCL Domino GUI also needs improvement.""Recently, IBM sold the product to HCL. Since Pakistan and India have some problems on a domestic level, we were actually considering replacing it with Indian products from the organization. We're just facing some regulatory issues.""The solution could improve Kubernetes or Dockers migration to new environments in the cloud.""The solution is expensive.""It would be advantageous if the web server could seamlessly pick up configuration changes without the need for a complete restart.""Its performance and integration could be better. It has capabilities for large deployment with several servers, but in the latest interface, running with different servers isn't supported.""The client version of this solution could be faster and be made simpler for non-IT users. You will need to have some knowledge of Notes to correctly install this solution."

"The desktop version of Microsoft Exchange receives emails a little slower than the online version.""Sometimes we don't get support quickly enough - for example, if there's some global hacker attack, we don't get served as quickly. The skills of the technical staff can also vary, and Microsoft could perhaps improve their training.""The solution could be more user-friendly.""Exchange can be a little finicky, sometimes, or flakey. Last week, for example, I had gone into my calendar to check on some briefings that I had established, and then went back into my inbox, and suddenly the view had changed. I had no idea what it was that I had done, and I couldn't figure out how to get that view back. I took a productivity hit as a result of that, trying to fix it, due to the fact that it just wasn't what I wanted. It wasn't what I was used to working with. Two different tech support people had to work with me in order to get the view back to what I wanted just so I could be productive.""The only thing that could be improved is the pricing.""I would like to see Microsoft Exchange improve their documentation.""One thing for improvement would be to have an offline version of Exchange available for use if our connection goes down.""There can be occasional challenges during the product's implementation phase, making it an area where improvements are needed."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Price is reasonable compared to the other solutions."
  • "We're happy with the price of our license — it's pretty standard."
  • "We pay annually for the use of this solution and it is only a standard fee."
  • "We chose to pay for our licensing fees annually."
  • "Customers have to pay for a license for the Notes Client, not for the Domino database. There is a quarter license that we use."
  • "HCL Domino has reasonable pricing. It's not expensive."
  • "For 30 licenses, we pay $1,500 every year. It is not an expensive product."
  • "HCL Domino is costly, but it still depends on how your organization views it price-wise."

  • "They are flexible when it comes to pricing, unlike most of the other vendors I have dealt with."
  • "It's working very well. There is no problem, but the price is not the best."
  • "Its price is okay."
  • "It's a little bit expensive."
  • "Its price is very affordable, and basically, it is the standard of the industry. We have the Exchange 365 subscription, which includes the usage of Exchange Online. I don't know the specific cost, but it is the retail price of Microsoft 365 E3 licenses. Microsoft's licensing is not very easy to understand. Microsoft changes rules every other day, which makes it difficult for us to understand the licensing not only for Exchange but also for other products. It can sometimes be really complex to understand what you need to have in order to comply with Microsoft licensing."
  • "Microsoft doesn't have a unit price, it's based on the quantity, and they offer great discounts."
  • "We are currently using enterprise licenses for the solution. They are different pricing models available. There are individual, cloud-based, and enterprise licenses all with different pricing models. The larger the number of users, the lesser the price. For small to medium companies like us, we feel it is expensive."
  • "Its price is fair."
