FireMon Security Manager Stability
I have use cases where it's been running for two and a half years, and I've never had a problem with it. They're smaller companies where there aren't a lot of changes going on, but FireMon is just clicking away the whole time. It's stable.
Once it's put in, you pretty much walk away from it. You come back every morning to see if anything is going on and, if not, keep moving. It has made life a whole lot easier for us.

Stability has been very good. The solution is set it and forget it.
View full review »FireMon is quite stable overall. However, there is one issue I encounter when attempting to run reports. Occasionally, it indicates that I do not have to report the web services. I'm uncertain if this problem is unique to our system or not, as it seems to be an ongoing concern. I have submitted several tickets, with five more related to this particular issue. Aside from that, FireMon remains stable and does not experience frequent downtimes. The only inconvenience arises when running reports, as it occasionally prompts an error, leading to a need for a web server restart.

We don't have too many issues with FireMon. When it comes to the application, we don't have any issues. Sometimes we get white noise, meaning false positives, but that is just in terms of performance, and not necessarily the system itself.

It's pretty stable. We do have false negatives about things going awry, but when we submit a CRQ, or submit a ticket to FireMon about it, they're usually aware of the problem. In some cases, we've had swap file issues, which goes into the yellow, and that's normal.

There has been one issue when I try to run reports. Sometimes it gives me an error and I have to reboot the web services. I'm not sure if that's unique to us or an ongoing issue. I've opened quite a few tickets with FireMon on that.
Apart from that, it's pretty stable. It doesn't go down.

The stability is favorable. We have been running it for a year. We have been able to restore from a backup. We did that as an exercise and that process was very straightforward.
They have built-in monitoring that sends out alerts whenever the CPU or disc usage triggers the thresholds, which are set at intelligent levels.
I have heard from the people at FireMon: When going from version 8 to version 9, that upgrade path was a little bit dicey in terms of stability. Since we installed version 9, I feel like we have been pretty good this whole time on stability.

We've had some stability issues in the past with FireMon. We still have a few that they say are fixed in version 9.5. But we can't run version 9.5 yet because they took out the SNMP management and our ability to remotely monitor our FireMon instance. As a result, we can't put that version into production yet. They're putting that ability back. That's a feature that we absolutely require. We're not the only ones that require It. In talking with them, a number of customers have complained about that.
We've had some issues with file systems filling up because it identifies unused or unlicensed firewalls and it adds them to the list. It's trying to pull unused firewalls and that is filling up the file system and crashing the system. It still does that on version 9.3, but they say it's fixed in version 9.5.

The solution is stable. The main platform has gone through many iterations of version upgrades with no problems, no hitches. The devices themselves are very stable. The most frequent problem that we have is the loss of connectivity between firewalls and FireMon. That's more due to configuration changes on the firewall side, as opposed to anything that has to with the actual FireMon devices.

It is stable, which is acceptable. I don't have any negatives with it. This is not a concern of mine, as we don't have any issues with stability.
We have probably one full-time equivalent managing the tool right now. Our ultimate end goal, that I am envisioning, is that we would need more support to manage the tool.

It's recently become much more stable. We had an undersized box, and FireMon actually gave us a very much bigger server for free, which was very good of them to do. It brought our stability to about 99-percent-up.
View full review »We haven't had any issues with stability yet. Well, we did during the upgrade, to be honest. So, when we did the upgrade, we had to get new versions written for us so that the upgrade worked. It didn't work just off the bat, but once we had that done, it worked fine.
View full review »It crashed one time but that's because of a design issue on our part. It's not something that, I think, was on FireMon's part. We need to offload the storage, and our hard drives are filling up, so that causes problems with our servers, but as far as FireMon, I haven't really had a problem with FireMon crashing on its own.

It has been stable until this year when we had three weeks of downtime. We had an issue with data collectors, and they couldn't figure out what the issue was. They were troubleshooting for more than two weeks. It was up and down. It was probably related to the hardware because since we have moved to the virtual machine, we haven't had that issue.
View full review »We have a centralized server with data collector appliances placed between two data centers. We were losing change data because one of the collectors had too much load on it but we never knew. Support had to dig deep when we had our 7.x install and help balance out our firewall to collector ratio to ensure we weren't flooding any one collector.

The solution is very stable. We've found it to be reliable. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's not buggy or glitchy.
View full review »We have an issue sometimes with the listener for logging. Sometimes the listeners, the ports, go down and the server has to be rebooted. It's very, very rare that that happens, but we have noticed that's really the only stability issue that we've had. The server application itself seems to be very, very stable. Even when the port goes down, the app stays up. It just has to be reset. That may be every three months or so we may notice that.
View full review »We have not encountered any stability issues with the product itself. It's been easy to maintain, to upgrade and to do all of the support work for it. There hasn't been an issue with that at all.
View full review »There were a few issues with stability initially, but luckily FireMon is very supportive in terms of their support staff. They have been able to identify the issues that we've been having, and in turn implement some kind of compensating mechanism or come up with a solution in order to fix it, so as to help us resolve our issues. Overall, we've been pretty happy with the support team.

View full review »We haven’t had any stability problems. I had one or two minor issues since the upgrade, such as upgrade failures. I couldn’t get the system to accept a maintenance release. Those issues were resolved pretty quickly. There have been no stability issues, nor long-term outage issues.
View full review »When we transferred from one release to the next, the most recent upgrade, the integration with Check Point gateways was very poor and so it was for almost a year that the product was unusable to us.
