I would rate the cost as six out of ten.

When it comes to the government, money is never an issue, so it was excellent in terms of the HPE OneView licensing cost.

You have to pay for additional expenses apart from the standard licensing fees because everything has a price for HPE.

Hitachi was cheaper, but I'd rate HPE OneView cost-wise as eight out of ten.

There is no license fee but if you wish to have a warranty, there is an annual charge for that. 

The solution is free to use, but if you want the management aspect you require a virtual machine such as C7000 or Synergy which require licenses.

I don't deal with the pricing or licensing and cannot speak to what the exact cost is. 

The solution offers two pricing models. 

Synergy does not require iLO licenses but requires the purchase of servers or enclosures that come with the default OneView. 

The older platform requires iLO licenses but does not require the purchase of servers. This platform has problems because it is dependent on old class enclosures and hardware that cannot link or be managed with the solution. 

This license cost for OneView was $3,000 USD.

I don't know about the pricing since I am not a part of the team that looks into the solution's pricing and financial part.

I feel the product's price falls a bit on the higher side.

As the guy that does the work and not the guy that handles the money, I am interested in whatever makes my job easier. Simple is always better. If it's a simple, straightforward solution, that is always the best solution for me as an engineer. 

For the people that handle the purse strings, I guess money is a greater concern. As far as the technology goes, anything that makes my life easier and I don't get calls in the middle of the night, that's what matters to me. That should matter to the business as well. Obviously, if I'm not getting calls, then things are up. If it's simple, it's better for everybody, in terms of the roll-out times, troubleshooting, and fewer pieces to break.

To be honest, the price point is pretty spot on.

I think that the price of OneView is $500 USD per server, which is a little high. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.

Before looking into the solution, I was looking for something which could buy us changes, but at the time, HPE had some other solutions, but they were actually quite expensive to buy. So, when OneView came along, it was kind of reasonable in terms of price for licenses, etc.
