Overall, I would rate Business Warehouse a seven out of ten.

If all the products are from SAP, I can rate SAP Business Warehouse a ten out of ten. It becomes very complex if the customer wants to integrate a SAP product into a non-SAP solution. In that case, I rate SAP Business Warehouse a six out of ten. I recommend the tool to a small or medium company with SAP solutions and no third-party products. If the organization is big and has multiple solutions, I wouldn’t recommend the tool to them. Our customers do not use the tool effectively. Overall, I rate the solution a six out of ten.

SAP Business Warehouse excels as a corporate data warehouse, providing integrated ETL, warehousing, and reporting capabilities. While other solutions may offer more flexibility, SAP BW stands out as an all-in-one solution, especially for clients using SAP's backend systems like ERP and CRM. It is a logical choice for organizations seeking a comprehensive data warehousing solution tailored to their SAP ecosystem.

Before HANA, SAP Business Warehouse's ETL functions were basic compared to competitors, fulfilling their job but lacking sophistication. However, with HANA technology, there has been a significant improvement. Now, we can work with real-time data warehousing, breaking the traditional paradigm of nightly data updates. HANA enables real-time data integration, a substantial advancement in SAP's data warehousing capabilities.

By using online database replication, SAP Business Warehouse provides real-time integration of data from multiple sources into the data warehouse. With BW's modeling and transformation features, raw data becomes actionable insights, presented in user-friendly formats, aiding informed decision-making.

SAP Business Warehouse's data modeling capabilities have significantly improved our decision-making processes. By leveraging features like Core Data Services and HANA graphical calculation views, we can model data closely to SQL standards and transform it effectively for reporting needs. This enables us to have real-time data in a structured environment optimized for reporting, providing insights that were previously difficult to obtain from transactional systems.

If you are considering using SAP Business Warehouse, my advice would be to let the business lead the project, not IT.

Overall, I would rate SAP Business Warehouse as an eight out of ten.

I'm an implementer and end-user and handle a bit of sales.

It can be on the cloud on Azure or AWS. A new product has come up from SAP, which is called SAP Data Warehousing Cloud. Slowly, there will be a shift from the existing BW4HANA to Data Warehousing Cloud in, I would say, three to four, maybe five years. They are working on moving to the cloud. It is pretty new in the market, so it will take time to settle down.

It's the best data warehousing tool in the market. It's got tight integration with SAP. If you have SAP as your source, then you should not look outside for any other data warehousing tool and go ahead with SAP BW due to the integration with SAP, and it's very tightly integrated with any SAP source, as well as any SAP reporting.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. 

My company provides services to customers, and SAP Business Warehouse is one of the modules it provides.

SAP Business Warehouse is being taken over by another cloud product from SAP, but it's a useful product so I would recommend it to others.

I'm rating SAP Business Warehouse seven out of ten.

My suggestion for those considering the solution is to prioritize setting up the core engine, the ERP. Once that is established, they can evaluate various BI tools available in the market before deciding.

Considering factors such as data extraction, data pushing, and the solution's accuracy, I rate the overall solution a six or seven out of ten.

My company is an SAP Business Warehouse customer.

The initial deployment of SAP Business Warehouse requires between twenty to thirty people, but two to three people for maintenance would suffice.

Right now, everyone in the organization is using SAP Business Warehouse in one way or the other. The core or power users would be around three hundred people from finance, reinsurance, IT, etc., but mostly from finance.

I wouldn't recommend SAP Business Warehouse to startup organizations or people just starting out because the product demands many people to run and maintain it. SAP Business Warehouse would be a good product for medium-sized organizations where the data is becoming bigger and bigger. It'll be wonderful to use because if you have many systems, then SAP Business Warehouse can feed data into your systems, so it's perfect for a medium-sized organization, at least.

I work with SAP, so I have experience with SAP Business Warehouse.

I'm using version 7.5 of SAP Business Warehouse.

My company has approximately two hundred fifty users of SAP Business Warehouse. Three people maintain the solution.

I recommend SAP Business Warehouse to people and companies using SAP ERP systems. Still, if your company has more presence in other databases, such as SQL, Azure, and other ERP systems, I would not suggest SAP Business Warehouse because the solution is friendlier when connected to SAP systems. For non-SAP systems, you'll need to exert more effort to bring the data in when you use SAP Business Warehouse.

My rating for the solution is seven out of ten.

My company is a customer of SAP.

I would not recommend it to organizations that are starting out because it demands a huge number of people to run and maintain it. I would recommend it for medium organizations with a lot of data.

I recommend SAP Business Warehouse to others and rate it an eight out of ten. It has a well-documented and straightforward installation process.

My advice when considering this solution is that a proper planning strategy is a must for going on a journey with a reporting and analytics solution. From my experience, I can tell you that organizations just venture in for a reporting, analytics solution without even framing a proper strategy as to what they would like to see as the end result and how they would like to approach it. That is the only thing that is important. Otherwise, the journey is smooth with SAP products. But you need to be clear in your head, and planning really takes the majority of the time. If you have twelve months, then I think you should plan for four months, so that the last eight months are a smooth journey for you.

I would rate the solution a seven out of ten. 

We are a manufacturing company, also running a factory and we implemented it in the ERP. I think BW is one of the best products at the moment. There are a lot of competitors that are adding features. Specialty Suites or the FETA Gartner and Logic requirement. It's important to check all options. A company needs to take into account what business or industry they have. Most are probably considering different solutions and for banks or insurance companies, it's possible that Microsoft solutions are better. 

I would rate this product an eight out of 10. 

I am not the one who is using the different transaction codes of BW since rights are provided to a minimal amount of technical personnel. Those who are going to prepare the cubes or make some queries or something like that would use it. Based on that queries, we are getting reports.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. 

Our solution is strictly on-premises due to our company policy to not place anything on the cloud. 

Consultants with technical experience are helpful. They need to understand the processes, as well, however, because designing is the key. Designing right from the start is the very important if you want the product to work for you. 

There are multiple teams within our company. In my team, we are only concerned with BW and BO. With other teams, there are probably many other instances where someone that is using the solution is connected to other data sources and may be providing the data to the suppliers outside SAP using the portal. I don't know much about it because I'm not involved in this process.

I'd rate the solution six out of ten.

SAP Business Warehouse is really good. I had already used it in four prior organizations and this will be my fifth organization using it. It is pretty good as far as SAP Data is concerned. So right now, our licenses are only limited to SAP Data because it is for external data, then we need to purchase additional licenses, which we have now gone ahead with.

So that's where one of the challenges is. They have ready-made connectors for the SAP, data transfers, extractions, cube production, and all the applications. We build the data and the reports. They are trying to deliver the data as compared to extracting the data from SAP to SQL Tables and then building the same logic and producing the report. We prefer that when it comes to SAP Data.

My advice would be if you have a data block and if you really want a big solution on the reporting side of it with slicing and dicing, definitely go ahead with BW when it comes to SAP related data.

On a scale of one to ten, I would rate SAP Business Warehouse an eight. 

As I said, a few things which are missing include the visualization of reports. That's where your costs and licensing become heavy. When it comes to this database compared to Microsoft Warehouse, it's an expensive solution.

Because if I already have an SQL Server, my licensing fees and the server licensing cost for installation all go drastically down.

They also give us a free reporting tool. For the data view, we need to have user-licensing and every cost gets increased, as I said. For example, we have a license for SAP Data, and for external data, we also have to purchase one more license, and again for a visualization tool. So that way, licensing costs keep increasing with BW.

I rate this solution a seven out of 10. You can start quickly but, when you have to get a little more detailed, when you have to change something, when you have to solve problems, it's not that easy. It's easy to start but evolving is not that easy.

To make it a 10 out of 10, SAP would have to have better tools for reporting. There is a lot of focus on boards and graphics and those kinds of features, but they are tools for newcomers. You don't have machine-learning tools that you can easily connect to your data. You have to download the data to a CSV or a text file, and then you have to analyze it with something like R or SPSS.

My advice is that SAP will give you a fast start, but in two to four years you will have to go fishing for another solution for sophisticated users who will not get enough from the SAP tool.

I would rate this solution 8 out of 10. 

For a company that's looking to implement BW on HANA, my advice is to go for it. But at the same time, also look out for the DWC, Data Warehouse Cloud, which currently comes with BW Bridge. I think the two together can basically cover all needs when it comes to integration.

The two clients that have been using SAP Business Warehouse have found that it does not quite fit their use case. However, there is not any CRM or ERP that fits their needs specifically. In the charity use case, they have found challenges.

I rate SAP Business Warehouse a ten out of ten.

We don't use any Data Quality or Identity Manager. Our company doesn't deal with customers directly as it is not open to the public. Our clients are mainly insurance companies. We will normally limit the amounts of data, so we don't have those components but we do have Business Warehouse where we pull in reports of incidents.

Recently, we were upgrading versions. We were on SAP BW version 4.7, and we have moved on to BW 6.0. Right now, we access Business Warehouse through an Excel add-on called BEx Analyzer which is also a product of SAP.

At this time, I wouldn't recommend the solution as the product support will be phased out by SAP. If others are interested in an SAP solution I would go for SAP Analytics Cloud.

I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

SAP offers so many solutions based on the type and size of the company.
I would advise to always use best practices, establish strong project governance, define the scope of the project, maintain a project plan, etc.

SAP Business Warehouse is a good option if you are interested in memory analytics including HANA.

I would rate SAP Business Warehouse an eight out of ten.

I'm an independent consultant. I have no direct relationship with SAP, with the vendor.

It's an application that is being migrated to HANA. I would recommend only the HANA version right now.

I would advise those considering this or a similar solution that they need to hire an experienced consultant, or to study the technical details of the project before starting using it.
