We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"When you install DOORS locally, you have the flexibility to do what you want with the solution. You can add functionality and do many things that you can't do with other tools or do well enough to satisfy your users' requirements.""I would say that the best feature of the solution is that since everything is in one place, and if you make any changes, then they are recorded or tracked.""The most valuable feature for me is the ability to enter data into one table, or context, and link it across modules.""Very customizable and can be as powerful as you want it to be.""It's a very interesting tool. I like that it's simple. You have to create your document, add your templates, and have your headings and definitions, and it's done. You must attribute the discipline and fill out the comment field for requirements. It also provides you with unique IDs for each requirement. I like that it never duplicates IDs.""Starting to use the solution is pretty straightforward. There isn't too much of a learning curve.""It has the features of: traceability, configuration management, and user access.""Traceability on requirements for a huge project in an organization is a big gain."

More IBM Rational DOORS Pros →

"It is good at requirements management and test management.""The most valuable feature is the user-friendly interface.""You can get full traceability with any other system. It also includes a test module, and you build the traceability matrix incrementally throughout the development process.""Technical support answers fairly quickly compared to others like IBM or Atlassian. They also offer quite a good knowledge base for advanced cases and how to plan it, etc. via videos that they provide. They are quite useful.""I like Jama Connect because it's easy to use and understand. The widgets are great, and linking is straightforward. The solution is not complex compared to its competitors.""Provides suitable tools for managing regulatory requirements.""Jama Connect is a good tool for the entire software development cycle."

More Jama Connect Pros →

"The timeline management is great.""Jira offers tools for managing projects using Agile methodology. I think it is good to encourage the development team to use Jira, so that the organization benefits from the proper execution of projects on time. Basically, it helps our organization to execute in a better way.""There are a lot of plugins in Jira and we purchase the ones we need.""The dashboard and reports tracking and the setup updates quickly, I am very impressed with those features. Additionally, it is user-friendly.""We do not have a lot of time for investigating new things, but Jira has saved us a great deal of time. It has a nice user interface and we can do a lot of things with it.""Some of the features that are most important to me of JIRA Agile are the sprint planning, being able to write user stories and being able to use task management.""This solution assists us with being able to quickly and easily start sprints and keep accurate track of them, including billing using a time-tracking add-on.""Reports, analytics, and a ton of widgets, they are great and intuitive. Perfect for an agile team."

Cons
"The kind of dashboard is not very convenient.""The images are not clear. We have to use them as OLE objects. And in the testing part, I'm not sure how to link it with it. This is my main concern.""The interface needs an area to be able to type your query and actually be able to find them.""Both the performance and the price could be improved.""It could be more user-friendly. It's not a beautiful tool. The user interface is gray. It has only lists inside, and it's horrible when you want to add tables. It's tough to add tables and manage them. It also becomes difficult when you want to add images.""One of the things that many people complain about is it's hard to manage attributes. For example, tables or figures. This is something that can be improved.""I think there is probably room to improve by offering free training.""IBM should integrate some solutions they already own toenhance the utility of the product further. Specifically import and export to Office products is more difficult than it needs to be."

More IBM Rational DOORS Cons →

"There are some security concerns with Jama Connect, including two-factor enablement.""The user interface could be modernized and the product lacks project management functionalities.""t is rather slow, so the speed of the process and consuming information should be improved. It doesn't have a nice way of viewing information. We would like to see better interfaces for consuming information.""Test management can be improved. It's not so scalable. The user interface needs to split things into small projects.""I have inquired about pricing for this solution but have not yet heard anything, so their response time in this regard is something that should be improved.""I believe one of the weak points is the reporting side. You must export inter-readable reports from Jama if you do not use the system as a repository for your design history file. Jama is great if you keep it in Jama, but reporting out requires some customization to get it right.""The initial setup could be better, it's complicated.""I think there's room for improvement, especially with the review process. Reviews should be integrated with requirement evaluation instead of being separate from it. The review should not run parallel to the requirement."

More Jama Connect Cons →

"Jira is a little bit old fashioned, it could be more user friendly.""I would like to see test execution modules.""It would be ideal if the solution could be available as a mobile application.""There's a really steep learning curve for configuration.""I manage the progress of the stories in an Excel chart with dates on work progress or thing to do. I don't like the progress or the stage changing from the stories in Jira.""Jira could improve the workflow, screen, and field configurability. They are lagging behind other solutions, such as Allegra in work system configurability.""The release of a MailServer feature within Jira would be beneficial.""I would like to see more integration available with more tools."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the IBM Rational DOORS solution.

PeerSpot user Juergen A., System Engineer, Requirements Engineer, Managing Director at CCC Systems Engineering Suisse GmbH, says, “One of the most valuable features of the program is the usability. It is really simple to use and its logic, look and feel are familiar to most customers. Let's say it is more of an old-fashioned interface design. If you look at the software, you will notice that the layout is similar to the old Microsoft Windows Explorer. This is helpful to customers who have long-term experience because the look and feel is something they remember from the structure of Explorer and they find it familiar when they go to use DOORS.” He also adds, “There are several other features in the product that are valuable to users and to us. These features would have to do with the traceability and the possibilities for customization of the RP (Relying Party). This is important because several of our clients run an awful lot of customizations.”

A Project Manager at a tech services company mentions, "We have different generations of all products. It lets us select and see unique attributes for each release or generation. You can use attributes to define a selection area to see which equipment are for the old versions and which ones are for the new versions. This inbuilt view is what I like in IBM Rational DOORS. So, for a database and a set of requirements, it will select and show unique attributes for a release or a generation."

A Sr. Systems Engineer at a manufacturing company comments, “I like the user interface with regard to creating links between requirements and tracing links to requirements. I like the DXL Wizard, in particular, to build custom views that I save. I am a fan of the DOORS Change Proposal System, although a lot of people where I'm working have their own homegrown system. I continue to push them to migrate to the DOORS CPS.”

Julie K., Lead Modeling & Simulation Engineer at a tech services company, explains, “Being able to track changes to requirements and being able to export is the solution's most valuable aspect.”

Jira is a powerful cloud- and subscription-based application lifecycle and issue management solution. It is designed to aid users both in project management and in resolving any issues that arise at any point in the software development process. It is especially concerned with easing the ability of developers to collaborate.

    Jira Benefits

Some of the ways that organizations can benefit by choosing to deploy Jira include:

    • DevOps lifecycle visibility and planning. Jira provides application developers with tools that enable them to track and visualize where they are in the development process. This means that a DevOps team can measure their progress at all times. Jira’s roadmapping feature also enables a DevOps team to work more efficiently by setting goals for their projects, keeping them on track. Additionally, they are able to track whether they are meeting the goals that they set for their projects.
    • Regular product updates. Atlassian is constantly updating Jira so that it is continuously evolving into an ever more powerful and user-friendly solution. Users can be sure that the product that they are using is always being tweaked so as to provide them with the best possible project management solution.
    • Flexibility. Jira enables users to customize their workflows and dashboard so that the solution is operating in a way that best matches their needs. Jira can also integrate with more than 3,000 other applications and integrations. Organizations can use it to expand their project management and DevOps capabilities in many different ways.

    Jira Features

    • Security capabilities. Jira is equipped with a number of useful security features. It gives administrators the ability to restrict access to certain tools so that only users who are authorized to complete certain tasks have access to the tools related to the completion of that task. Users can also set default permissions so that only particular users can work on new projects or particular projects.
    • Real-time notification feature. Users can set Jira so that it offers them notifications that contain critical information in real time. It can send users email notifications when pressing issues have been updated. They can also set it to notify them about tasks that may be due, or other similar events.

    • Activity log. Jira has the ability to track any and all changes that are taking place within the software framework. Users can keep a close eye on everything that is going on. This promotes a high level of visibility and can be leveraged to aid developers in their collaboration efforts.

    Reviews from Real Users

Jira is a powerful solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Two major advantages it offers are its workflow engine and its highly customizable dashboard.

Bharath R., the tool implementation and project management lead at a financial services firm, writes, “I feel the strongest feature of Jira is its workflow engine. It empowers us to automate our workflows within our organization. It's the one characteristic of Jira which I think can help any organization, be it in any domain.”

Uday J., a staff engineer at a computer company, says, “Another thing that I like a lot about Jira is that in the dashboard, you can plug the modules that you want. You can enable certain sections. For example, you can show trend history, open Jira tickets, etc. Some of the managers have created a dashboard for each engineer.”
