We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One feature I like about CA Performance Management is the certification of the devices.""Since the implementation of the tool, it has cut down on probably 60% of our outages and letting us know what is going on.""There is another component of the tool called Network Flow Analysis. It gives us the ability to troubleshoot issues which do not appear right away.""What is most useful is visibility.""The capability where not only the traditional SNMP information is captured but also the netflow data; who is consuming the data on the WAN, and voice-related information, is helpful. The voice quality makes it very easy for first- and second-line operators to see where the issue is, and who is impacted.""We have been able to get a little bit better at seeing more things in real time and more just in time, so we're less reactionary.""Downloads and records are the most valuable features.""The solution's performance itself is very good because it is a vertical database that loads very fast in comparison to other products."

"The most useful feature is infrastructure monitoring including switches and servers.""The most valuable feature is the interface and its ease of use.""It's a very complete product with a lot of functionality.""One of the notable advantages is its ability to provide quick responses, especially in critical situations."

"It gives us a good overview of what's happening in our networks and the devices in the networks.""Most valuable function would have to the internal causal engine and its root cause analyzer which keep us updated on critical errors and incidents in our network environment.""We do not have any issues stability-wise.""If you install one node on Network Node Manager and want to scale it up, it's pretty easy to create more nodes.""Our monitoring and network teams of less than 100 people use this solution. The availability and fault monitoring are good.""The best feature is the solution's entire credibility with all vendors.""A good enterprise-level solution.""Real time network monitoring application: It is very stable, which provides quick root cause analysis (RCA) for any network faults."

Cons
"CA PM Business Hours Filtering: I understand that all monitoring systems have defects. The Business Hours Filtering does not always function properly. Sometimes, when applying business hours to CA PM reports that are 30 or more days in duration, the report generation times out and does not display results. We have other CA PM reports that, when we apply Business Hours Filtering, the report results displayed are the same as without the filter. We are not sure if this is a defect in CA PM or if it is a result of our complex configuration (folder structure) and application of business hours.""I think it would be helpful having a more comprehensive set of certifications so that I could natively deploy devices to my environment and the tool would immediately recognize and immediately be able to provide relevant performance information without a lot of tuning on my part.""It could be a little easier to integrate new metrics.""DX Performance Management should increase high availability. If one of my two data centers goes offline and the other is operational, I need a seamless transition from the primary to the secondary data center. It's crucial to maintain consistent monitoring of the devices during this transition. Therefore, I require continuous, 24/7 monitoring of my system using this tool.""When it goes through discovery, or whatever it is doing in the back-end that slows it down, sometimes we get some failures with it. ""I'm not a fan of many extra features since they usually burden the software and reduce its reliability.""We would like to be capable of reporting network performance with a report strictly focused on the times outside business hours, which CA PM does not currently support. We have discontinued the use of the Business Hours Filtering until CA engineers are able to resolve or offer guidance.""It seems like we escalate more than I would like to. If anything, they should look at how the tier support goes in place."

More DX Performance Management Cons →

"I would like to see additional modules included.""HPE Intelligent Management Center is a bit slow.""One notable deficiency is the lack of online support for the product.""The integration with other network devices needs improvement."

More HPE Intelligent Management Center Cons →

"The resources utilized could be a bit higher, and that is one of the challenges that isn't optimized""The solution should integrate with NAC servers.""As the technologies evolve, also these solutions or the monitoring tools should evolve to cover the progress in technology, including capabilities related to monitoring of virtualized devices today, as the DNS is on the table in this way.""Micro Focus Network Node Manager is not powered to drill down for traffic visibility.""Reporting. Even though this is available in separate software (iSPI) there is potential in making the reporting more SLA-aware and more intuitive.""Only to improve the GUI.""We had some issues with some of the features, some modules are not meeting expectations.""The way the solution currently works means I'm not able to customize my own reports."

  • "We were looking at other vendors in the marketplace for NetFlow, and CA just beat everybody else in price, cost, and the size to implement. "
  • "Do your homework and know how many devices you will be managing out of the gate. Be sure to project what your growth will be each year."
  • "They should provide more scalable licensing for the product."
  • "I like the licensing model because it's device-based."
  • "We purchase a license to use the solution every three years and we have multiple contracts. They have been increasing the price annually. We have a baseline for three years and then we need to pay the difference from the baseline, and we are in the process of negotiating a new price for all the licenses we need. The price overall is affordable."
  • "The tool's pricing is based on the number of network devices."
