Quotes From Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros
"This solution allows me to have true visibility for any metrics when it comes to my cloud, and private.""This solution makes it a lot easier to figure out trends within very different data sources, which makes it easy to see why something is misbehaving.""The features I find most valuable is the querying and alerting capabilities.""People are very pleased with the implementation.""The most valuable aspects of the solution are its ease of use and its ease of implementation.""No issues with stability."

"The view it provides for default analysis is very nice. The way in which it showcases how the metrics have been captured and how lucidly that they are displayed. This is a good thing to have from a technical and non-technical perspective.""It reduces our efforts to identify services failing in production.""You don't have to configure it. It just needs to be installed.""It provides us a reference for being able to go back and look at data at a certain point, analyze it, then determine if something was the root cause.""The stability is rock solid. We put a lot of stress on it.""It gives us visibility into the product and what we are doing operationally.""The visibility that it provides through the application's behavior allows us to find trends based on our customized metrics.""The graphical interface is helpful, as it illustrates things well for anyone who wants to know about the information it provides."

"Aside from having the logs that are just on the firewall, we're able to get the traffic as it's going in between, throughout our network. It isolates end sources that are having issues, where we don't have any other tools that would be able to go down to an end-user's computer to find out what's going on.""It catches bigger issues on a weekly basis. That's how often we find something big enough that the only reason we know about it is because of the nGeniusONE. The bigger issues are mostly security-type issues: Odd traffic leaving our network or coming into it, that has found its way past a firewall.""Deep packet inspection is probably the strongest feature.""Valuable features include data threat detection, network analytics, and overall bandwidth monitoring.""For me, the most valuable features are the dashboards which we use to highlight the overall impact to the customers, and being able to drill down into the nitty-gritty of the customer experience.""The fact that it's able to capture and store packets from the wires is very useful for troubleshooting with our vendors, when issues do come up. It's valuable that we have that overall data for them.""The details it provides are among the most valuable features; the ability to drill down and get to the packet level.""If one of our network pipes is getting plugged up by somebody using too much bandwidth, we can use the NETSCOUT tool to examine and find out what is going on."

Cons
"I would like to see integration with Kubernetes cluster and APIs so that you can manage the entire stack.""I would like to see more out-of-the-box dashboards for in-depth application monitoring of standard products that are out there.""In the new version, I would love to see more prediction capabilities. It would be great if one could see the alerts get a little more enriched with information and become more human-friendly instead of the technical stuff that they put in there. I think those would be really awesome outcomes to get.""The implementation is a long process that should be improved.""They could make it more easy to plug-in data so that a nontechnical person will be able to use it, like accountants or finance people. That way they don't have to ask us.""It could use a URL document server. Everything in the market is moving towards automation and everybody's looking for the single click operations as well relational data locality."

"For the manage services, they work on CloudWatch logs and are given CloudWatch logs only. I would like more collaboration with AWS and insight into CloudWatch services. This would be valuable, especially when detecting the fault of the root cause analysis. It would make the process go faster.""They should include more mission learning into the product and provide additional performance metrics for application learning.""When compared with other tools, the experience needs improvement. I would like them to build out the interactions and make them friendlier.""I would like them to add serverless capabilities, because everyone is going there.""As we move into using more AWS native architectures, it should support everything that we want to do. We don't want to adopt another tool.""The new Managed Edition is too complex. I feel like a fish out of water.""Every time we spin up an EC2 instance, we have to slap an agent on it and that is more work. So, if it could go agentless, that would be great.""It needs a better way to figure out how to dig deeper into the details, e.g., sometimes we have to wade through multiple logs, etc."

"I'd like to see the nGeniusONE, the nGeniusPULSE, and the OptiView, their three separate products, work a little better together, a little more streamlined.""Another thing that would help out is if they packaged the NetFlow monitor into nGeniusONE. Their NetFlow monitor works with nGeniusONE where you can actually get the netflow of pretty much anything you hook it up to. But it's a separate box that you have to buy. If there was a way that could package that into nGeniusONE, it would be a complete package straight out of the box.""There are so many pieces of their product that integrate with one another that perhaps a recommendation for improvement would be some sort of bigger overview and map to help understand how all their pieces integrate together.""The feature I am looking for is the Arbor technology, especially to run in parallel with our firewall... It's getting there.""A lot of tools highlight what's going on but they don't actually pinpoint the user experience. It would be good if there were a small message or something highlighting what the user experience is like and any degradation that's actually occurring.""For individual subscriber tracings, sometimes it does not capture all the messages. There is a little bit of room for improvement there.""It could have an easier to understand interface.""One of the products we use is SolarWinds, and it provides a very cool mapping of an agent from end-to-end. If NETSCOUT could somehow implement that into their design... make it quicker and easier to get those net paths, it would be huge."

Pricing and Cost Advice
"Educational pricing is available for this solution.""We were given a year's worth of service. It was included within our ELA. We were trying to do a proof of concept, which is almost over now.""Different locations require different setups. In your terms, around 300 to around 400K USD."

"While it is quite good in respect to its functionality, there are few area in regards to pricing that they can look at how to possibly change. I have heard it's costly.""There is time savings. People's times have been cut in half using this solution because we were previously doing a lot of that manual work. Now, it's a lot more automated, and the data is just there.""The price could be improved.""The product is pricey, but it is feature-rich, which is why we probably haven't looked away from it.""Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace was a pretty straightforward process. We had no hiccups.""I think the pricing is at a fair value for what it is.""The pricing and licensing are very expensive.""Purchasing through the AWS Marketplace is excellent."

More Dynatrace Pricing and Cost Advice »

"Their pricing is very competitive with other solutions... But what I like about NETSCOUT's licensing is that it's shared across all their platforms. They don't create a new licensing scheme for every one of their products. So for nGeniusONE, you buy a certain license level, and it works on all of their products.""Cost is probably the biggest drawback. Compared to some of the newer vendors that have popped up in the space, it's definitely more on the expensive side... [But] it's been able to keep its value, even in the face of the cheaper competition.""The biggest problem we have with this product is the expense.""It can be expensive, but if you have a good configuration, based on what you are looking for, it's okay, it's manageable.""It is very expensive, but it's well worth the money.""It is a little overall pricey and expensive, but you get what you pay for.""The scalability becomes very expensive quickly.""The license becomes cost prohibitive very quickly."
