We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I only deal with it from a security analyst's point of view. I don't really get into the features of the actual FortiGate. From the security point of view, it works, and it does its job.""Web filtering and two-factor authentication are great features.""It's super reliable. I don't think I've ever had a reliability issue with it.""The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are the APIs. They are the most widely known.""The license management is very valuable. You can get a new license each year, or you can enroll every two to four years. You can get the logs, and you will get the information on the risk in your network and the entire organization. With this information, you can take action on your actives, computers, or devices. You can bring your own device as an SSE.""The security on offer is very good.""The web filtering facility and application control are the most valuable features from the point of view of our clients. The VPN feature is also quite popular amongst our clients. Two-factor authentication is one of the good features in Fortinet. These features are important for the current scenario of security. Security has become a necessity nowadays. With cyber-attacks becoming more common, protecting an organization's data is one of the major tasks. It is also very stable and scalable, and it is very straightforward to configure. Their technical support is also good.""The web filtering feature and the intrusion protection system are the most valuable. It is a resilient appliance. I never had an issue with it in terms of any security breaches."

"The classification of the websites is helpful.""It has a lot of scalability abilities which makes it easy to scale.""The solution is extremely scalable.""FortiOS' most valuable features are management, security, and easy updates with no downtime.""I like that the firewall gives me a lot of control in terms of outgoing and inbound traffic, and it scores better in deep packet inspections when compared with the Azure Firewall.""The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiOS are its constant updates and definitions.""For ten to 12 years it has been quite secure.""Fortinet has optimized the WAN environment for connecting users to the application."

"Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection.""It enables us to not only detect but also prevent various types of incoming threats, allowing us to take appropriate corrective actions and exercise control over the network.""The product is very fast and reliable.""In our hospital, Sangfor NGAF works well for us in terms of ensuring confidentiality and availability, which are crucial in the healthcare industry.""It's a very simple to use product.""The stability of Sangfor NGAF is good.""In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated. Performance is also valuable.""I think Sangfor NGAF is more valuable than Cisco products because of its simplicity and ease of management. If I compare it with Palo Alto and Cisco, both are quite complex products. And if I compare it with FortiGate firewalls from Fortinet, I have also used all these products. Fortinet and Sangfor NGAF are similar products because the applications behind the application and policy layers are almost identical."

Cons
"Reporting is limited to providing an external appliance for improving the reporting capabilities of the FortiAnalyzer. It does not offer a central management and is also sold separably as an appliance.""Fortinet FortiGate could improve if it had a cloud-managed solution.""I think there could be more QoS features""There is one big configuration file with no separations for the unique VDOMs. Maybe they could separate individual VDOM configuration files with the root VDOM configuration file referencing the individual VDOM config files.""The price of FortiGate should be reduced because there are some other leading products that are cheaper.""I think they need to improve more in order to be a competitor with the leaders of the field.""I would like Fortinet to add more automation to FortiGate.""There is room for improvement related to the logging and reporting aspect."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"The solution could improve by making the dashboard easier to use.""There is some room for improvement in the support.""Real-time threat monitoring is not there.""FortiOS could provide a more detailed analysis of the network and connected devices.""It would be better if AWS instances were available. If I want to upgrade from T2.small to T2.medium, it should be available rather than having a big instance and paying a lot of money for that. The issue is that we had deployed in AWS Cloud, and we were using a very small instance. Recently we wanted to move in-house and deploy it on the big instance because it was struggling with the RAM. If we use T2.small, we cannot upgrade it to the T2.medium. It has predefined instances in the marketplace with a lot of cost differences. If I can increase the RAM, I have to choose the T3.large instance. If I'm paying $270 for the small instance, I have to pay more than double the cost for T3.large. It is about $850, and this is not good. So, it would be better if it was cheaper. I think both AWS and Fortinet should think about that. They should provide it on lower instances as well. If I want to upgrade it from T2.small to T2.medium, it should be available, but it's a problem.""Their first-level support is often poorly trained.""Fortinet FortiOS's integration could be improved.""The reporting and monitoring could improve, they have a lot of limitations. The monitoring is not easy compared to the other firewall."

More Fortinet FortiOS Cons →

"Sangfor need greater exposer in the market because the market is mainly saturated by Fortinet. The user experience of Fortinet is quite different compared to NGAF. If we want to switch our users from Fortinet to NGAF, we have to convince them that the user experience will be much easier once once they start to use it.""The web interface needs to be improved, making it more user-friendly.""The support for YouTube or the Internet is not enough.""Sangfor NGAF could improve the policies and default criteria. They could be much better.""It does not offer any recommendations on how to mitigate or control attacks.""The solution should be able to work in a hybrid setup.""An area of improvement for Sangfor NGAF could be in the field of reporting and logging.""There is room for improvement in dependency on certain infrastructure, like the DNS dependency on the current DNS server that the company has. It should be standalone. It should not depend on any other DNS server."
