Informatica Cloud Data Integration Other Advice

Fernando Santos - PeerSpot reviewer

I give the solution a ten out of ten.

As a partner, I'm very comfortable with the level of implementation and the technology involved independently of the price but for our customers whose primary concern is cost, the price of the solution is very high.

The comfort and simplicity of the products are unbelievable. The ability to implement, operate, and develop is very easy. We reduce the time and know-how required for developers to implement Informatica Cloud Data Integration because of the easy deployment.

It's a good tool to start with in the beginning.

The product is maturing and has not matured yet. If I look at the market, there are other tools that are providing this stable solution. I rate the overall solution between five to six out of ten.

In the cloud, Informatica has migrated to a different environment in a single platform named IDMC, on which one can have cloud data migration, cloud application integration, data quality, and data governance, making everything combined with a single platform. Earlier in our company, we had to rely on different software or platforms for each functionality, but now we can use a single URL and work on a single platform.

I would like to speak about Informatica Cloud Data Integration's performance, which is too slow but works overall as a tool. To those planning to use Informatica Cloud, I would say that it is the second-best product in the marketplace, and soon it will become the leading product.

On a daily basis, the product has been increasing their overall availability and performance .On a weekly basis, the product gives out some new updates while fixing its old defects. It will be a good product in the coming years. Improvements in the current product will continue for some time.

I rate the overall product a seven out of ten.

We chose Informatica Cloud because we have Salesforce. If you're using Data Integration, App Integration, and many other features like operational insights, then the price is worth it. If you're only using the solution for data integration, then the price definitely isn't worth it.

I rate this solution a nine out of ten. Regarding advice, it is a great solution, but users should understand their source and target system. For example, we also deal with Oracle Fusion, and it's a bit challenging to push data because Oracle has multiple models, financial supply chain and HR. Hence, it is difficult for a developer. Therefore, it is difficult to push data.

They should decide whether they are comfortable using Informatica Cloud Data Integration as their middleware tool or whether they want to use Oracle or OCI. OCI is a different middleware tool owned by Oracle.

Regarding additional features in the next release, Informatica Cloud Data Integration doesn't have image merging transformation or capability. We can do it without the solution, but it is a lengthy process. So, it would be helpful if they added the transformation to play with images and deal with invoices and financial data. We sometimes need to add 200 out of 800 invoices, and it's a bit challenging without the additional features.

This is a good tool and others should use it. This solution is known for its ability to handle large amounts of data and in the market, there are not that many tools available. However, there are competitors in the market, such as Oracle and IBM.

If an organization's data is very limited and they are not using large amounts of data, then I would suggest going for a smaller targeting solution, such as Dell Boomi. When it comes to large and secure data, I would recommend others to use this solution or SAP BODS or IBM.

Informatica Cloud Data Integration has a nice GDP rating and a good European market.

I rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration a seven out of ten.

I rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration eight out of 10. I recommend Informatica as an integration tool for large and medium-sized enterprises migrating to the cloud. Cost is something to keep in mind because Informatica might be too pricey for smaller companies. Large and medium-sized companies can easily afford it if they plan to use it as a one-stop solution for all their cloud integration and management needs.

If you need a middle layer to build your pipeline, that can be achieved using Azure Data Factory or any other data integration tool. Still, Informatica has some advantages in terms of connectors and help desk resources. When you contact the Informatica help desk, you can speak with engineers who helped develop the Informatica platform, so they have rich experience with integration technologies. The product itself is highly reliable and suitable for your integration needs.

Azure Data Factory has almost 80 percent of the same features, and it might work for you if you have a Microsoft ecosystem. Using Data Factory is cheaper. However, if you're a large or medium-sized organization or a reseller and your data is more valuable, it might make more sense to use Informatica at that scale. You'll be interacting with many more types of applications and might need to integrate the applications in various ways.

The feature of the product that I find the most beneficial for data warehousing tasks is the use of the tool for extracting and loading purposes, which depends upon the connector's availability. Many connectors in Informatica are not free or out of the box, and you have to purchase them. The tool has quality connectors.

I haven't used the tool for real-time data analytics, but I have used it in my company for batch-oriented purposes. Data integration will not be supported in real-time in Informatica Cloud Data Integration. For real-time data integration, you have to go with either the application integration or other products like Informatica PowerExchange.

In Informatica Cloud Data Integration, the transformation feature was almost the same as that of Informatica PowerCenter. In Informatica Cloud Data Integration, the transformation features may offer a couple of more functionalities.

In terms of the ease of learning that the product provides, I would say that those who have experience with Informatica PowerCenter can easily adopt Informatica Cloud Data Integration. A person who has worked on Informatica Cloud Data Integration may not be comfortable with Informatica PowerCenter. In terms of ease of use, I consider Informatica PowerCenter to be easier than Informatica Cloud Data Integration.

I rate the ease of use experience attached to the tool a six out of ten.

Only after considering the use cases of people can I recommend the product to them. If a person only wants a product for extraction and loading purposes, then I feel that there are many cheap products in the market that can satisfy their needs. Suppose someone is looking at a tool that offers widespread features, like application integration and real-time functionalities. In that case, all of it comes under Informatica, which can be a good option.

The tool is the most expensive one compared to any of the other products in the market, especially in terms of ETL functionalities or integration features.

My company has integrated SAP, many databases, and APIs into Informatica Cloud Data Integration.

I can see that the performance of the product keeps improving with every new release, especially in the area of job executions, even though the hardware may be the same.

I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

I would rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration overall as an eight out of ten. It is a comprehensive platform covering data integration, API integration, data quality, data governance, master data, and privacy tools—all within one platform. The accessibility to all functionalities with the purchase of IPUs is a significant advantage compared to the past where certain features required additional payments and permissions.

The amount of usage that we see in Informatica on Cloud is going to increase. And, correspondingly, the usage of the automized version of Informatica that we use is going to decrease because exchanges are going to be more towards the cloud.

I suggest that someone considering this solution should take a minimilaistic free license, and do a proper analysis of the solution.

It is dependent on the requirements. If the transformation requirements are not too complex, I believe they can use the Cloud. However, if they have too many application systems to connect to, or too many databases, and require richer transformation capabilities, they can use PowerCenter.

We have a partnership with Informatica.

I would Informatica Cloud Data Integration an eight out of ten.

Informatica is likely to make this their flagship product. It is a solid investment to move to this ETL now. There will continue to be a slew of new features and product improvements in the near future that may increase the cost of the license.

Understand the needs of your organization. I strongly advise an understanding of the Informatica PowerCenter, so as to achieve the full effectiveness of this tool.

For simple replication, it works well. However, there are some other free tools that can also do the trick of replication just as nicely.

I work as a director in a consulting company. We don't implement it. We implement it for our clients. We don't implement it internally.

I recommended the solution only for particular use cases. For example, let's say if you have a simple use case just simply integrating data, it would probably not be my first choice, Informatica. However, if it's an enterprise-grade implementation of a data platform, a data management platform for creating data from A to Z, then this is a perfect option.

I'd give the solution a solid none out of ten rating.

I am a fan of Informatica and it is definitely a product that I recommend because of its inbuilt capabilities. At the same time, I would like to see more data sources added. Inclusion of support for Azure and Google Cloud would be a game-changer, wherein companies can move their analytics capabilities to the cloud instead of being on-premises.

If you have the money then you should implement it. Otherwise, there are many open-source tools in the market, although you will still have to invest quite a lot in terms of resources because the individual transformations still need to be built.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

On a scale from one to ten, I rate this solution an eight. I haven't seen the functionalities of this tool yet. The data quality is good but I still need to test the B2B gateway of the data quality. I would like to have profiling functionalities and quality transformations in the cloud so that I can directly integrate quality transformations inside the cloud. In the next version, I would like to have more tools for monitoring and perhaps also a system dashboard on our homepage.

I would definitely recommend this solution. It is definitely worth a try, and you will definitely benefit from it and see the value of implementing it in your organization. They are a leader in the Gartner Quadrants. The offerings that these guys are giving with the new licensing model, such as IPUs consumption, are excellent. You don't need to worry about what do you want to purchase. You just need to worry about the number of IPUs that you need to purchase. You can shuffle around all types of services under the same umbrella.

I would rate Informatica Cloud Data Integration an eight out of ten. It loses two points because of the region limitations.
